Hi everyone, just thought I would stop by and introduce myself.
I'm a long-time Pokemon fan; I fell in love with the series back in '98 with Pokemon Blue and the anime. Sort of got "too cool" for the franchise during high school, so I completely missed Gens 3 and 4, but found my way back to the games in college with Pokemon White.
I still love the games, but have sort of been missing the carefreeness and difficulty I associated with them back when I didn't know any better (my original Pokemon Blue playthrough was essentially a solo-Venusaur run because it never occurred to me to put another Poke in the first slot). Since 1998 I've adopted a very completionist mentality with my RPGs, so I play through the games now with Bulbapedia open next to me, making sure I catch everything on a given route before I move on. I've always got an Egg I'm trying to hatch and a Pokemon I'll never use that I'm trying to evolve in my party. I love "catching 'em all" but needless to say it's gotten a little mundane.
So basically, looking for new, refreshing, and interesting ways to play the games is what led me to this site. I'm very eager to try a Nuzlocke challenge, but as I was researching that, I got very interested in the monotype challenge, so this weekend I started a mono-Flying challenge of FireRed and am absolutely loving it so far. It's forcing me to really strategize instead of relying almost exclusively on type advantages.
So yeah, that's me and my Pokemon..."journey" so far. Nice to meet you all! :)
