Hi everyone, just thought I would stop by and introduce myself.

I'm a long-time Pokemon fan; I fell in love with the series back in '98 with Pokemon Blue and the anime. Sort of got "too cool" for the franchise during high school, so I completely missed Gens 3 and 4, but found my way back to the games in college with Pokemon White.

I still love the games, but have sort of been missing the carefreeness and difficulty I associated with them back when I didn't know any better (my original Pokemon Blue playthrough was essentially a solo-Venusaur run because it never occurred to me to put another Poke in the first slot). Since 1998 I've adopted a very completionist mentality with my RPGs, so I play through the games now with Bulbapedia open next to me, making sure I catch everything on a given route before I move on. I've always got an Egg I'm trying to hatch and a Pokemon I'll never use that I'm trying to evolve in my party. I love "catching 'em all" but needless to say it's gotten a little mundane.

So basically, looking for new, refreshing, and interesting ways to play the games is what led me to this site. I'm very eager to try a Nuzlocke challenge, but as I was researching that, I got very interested in the monotype challenge, so this weekend I started a mono-Flying challenge of FireRed and am absolutely loving it so far. It's forcing me to really strategize instead of relying almost exclusively on type advantages.

So yeah, that's me and my Pokemon..."journey" so far. Nice to meet you all! :)

    Howdy Chrono Eternal!

Welcome to PC. Nice to see you liked the anime. :) I loved watching the original few seasons, but haven't watched much after. Now, I'm more into the TCG. A new expansion called XY Breakthrough just came out today! There's some pretty cool stuff in the card game.

Anyway, glad you're here and I hope to see you around! :D

Thanks for welcoming me! Yeah, I was very into the anime as a kid, but stopped watching shortly after they went to Johto. It may be blasphemous to say here, but a certain other show featuring traveling kids and their monster companions replaced it as my childhood anime obsession. :pink_blush:

I haven't picked up the TCG in ages. I collected back in the day and still have a binder full of 'em at my parents' house, but never really battled or competed. I loved the TCG video game on Game Boy Color though.

Thanks Archy! Nice to meet you as well. Yeah, I'm loving the monotype challenge so far. Eager to try more challenges, as well as some ROM hacks. :)

Hi Chrono! Welcome to PC, very good having you ~

Challenges are a pretty great way to make the games more enjoyable, especially for those of us who have been playing for a long time and find them very easy (like me haha). Glad you're liking all the various ways to play! Nuzlockes are so insanely popular too. But it's probably going to take me 15 years to get back into my B2 Nuzlocke.. woops.

Anyways, see you around and if you need anything just ask. n~n
