Hey, hey, all! I'm brand new to the site. Found it a few days ago while exploring for rom hacks. Figured I'd make an account, as I am interested in creating a fan game eventually, and having access to the community for tips/advice would be excellent.
Not to mention that I just plain love Pokemon. Well, the older gens :). Haven't played a gen since X/Y.

Hello Killuachu, and welcome to the forums!
I guess you have already discovered the Fan Games section! ^^
What features do you plan to put in your fan game ?
Best of luck with your project!

I'm still in the early planning/learning phase, honestly. I know for sure that I want the game to feature a new region (I always enjoy fan games with new regions), Pokemon from as many gens as possible (variety is nice, but no Fakemon), a focus on narrative over simple badge collection (I'm a writer, so that's a no-brainer). I had an idea to create and add story "cutscenes" in the form of still images to emphasize certain story moments, if at all possible with a hack.
Despite how ambitious I'm sure my ideas will become (they always are lol), I want to create something that will help me learn a number of different skills as well as be something I'd be excited to play given I wasn't the one who made it haha.
What would the best tools be to begin practicing/working on the project?

Hello there Killuachu, and welcome to the PC forums!

I know nothing about fan games sadly, but I wish you luck on your project!

What is your favorite Pokemon Gen?

I really like Gen 2. Gen 4 was really fun from what I got a chance to play of it.

This looks really interesting! Fan games sure need more with different stories than about collecting pokémon, badges and beat the League stuff!
You can find everything for fan games in the dedicated sections!

Pikachu (obviously), Growlithe, and Eevee are probably my three favorite Pokemon.
