Hey there and welcome to the PC family! Nice to meet you, I'm Joey. Just like you, almost everyone here have been playing pokemon for a number of years. And since you're new to competitive battling, there is a section for it (I think :s I haven't been on here for sometime so I'm a bit sketchy on the sections).

Always lovely to meet new people in competitive play! I'm a fellow competitive player, so, anytime you need to learn some of the ropes, feel free to message me, and I'll help you out! PC also has a nice Battle Center where you can get some further assistance too; you can get your team rated, as a battle-related question over at the Qn'A thread. You'll find everything you'll need to know there, as out wonderful members will be glad to help! I've been playing competitive for.. a couple of years now, in which I've always find myself building offensive or Trick Room teams myself. But, you know, find your own style of play, and you'll do great. :3

I'm pretty new to it as well, although I've been learning about it for months...but my skills right now are pretty rusty. But that's okay, right? Eventually we'll get through it. Are you battling competitively via wi-fi or by Showdown? Aura Blackquill linked you the Showdown server where you'll find most of us there, including myself! You can battle competitively depending on the tier of your preference, and you can stop by our own Battle Center section where you can request a battle there, get your teams rated, as well as discuss competitive battling as a whole.
I've also been playing for yeeeeears as well, and Red was my first game, actually! Do you have X & Y?
