Which movie is your favorite, and what do you guys think about the series? I've seen the first and second movies, and personally I prefer the first in terms of plot-the only thing that kept me watching the second were the songs. I'm not planning on watching the third until a couple years from now when it finally airs on Disney Channel.

I despise them all, but I guess the first is the least terrible...

I really don't like any of the High School Musical movies mainly because none of that stuff would really happen...but I have to say that I think the second one is the least cheesiest...

    *Enter the dying cats* :\
Seriously, I think that they all are bad (even though I've only seen the first one XD)
Anyway, since I've only seen the first one I guess thats my favourite XD Sorta :(
Nah, I'll just say I dont have a favourite (Sorry if this post offended anyone :()

None of them. I just after a few minutes of that thing and I knew that Disney has killed more poor children of the vulnerable 21st Century generation.

Oh great, a High School Musical 4 ad. What is it now? "College Crap Chorals"?

I hate HSM as a whole, but if I had to choose I would take the original - it seemed the most... ah... hm. How do I describe it? It's like the first one was an actual movie designed to please people; 2 and 3 were just to make the franchise go farther and ake people more money.

    HSM?
Well I have watched the first and the second one, the stories are fine, and musics too.
I prefer the first lol, coz that's the original and great! I don't really liked the songs but it stuck on my head when I heard one of their songs...><

I'm not a fan of HSM, watched a bit of the first and got bored...

just not my style of movie.

I've watched all three. Yeah, I admit it. Keep in mind that I didn't watch them because I wanted to, but because my friends and I had a vote and for the first time in my life I wasn't able to convert people to view my side of the story. Did I like them? I liked the songs; they're catchy and upbeat. The plots were unoriginal and it was pretty obvious who the target audience was after a few minutes. Gabriella has possibly one of the most irritating voices in all of history. Did anyone else feel like walking away after the fiftieth time she said, 'heyyyyyyyyy Troy' ? I know I did.

So basically, they were good movies if you ignore the fact that the songs are excrutiatingly antagonizingly catchy, the storyline is boring and cheesy and the characters are incredibly irritating.

I've yet to see the third one, so I have no opinion on it.
Buuuut if I had to decide between the first two, I'd most likely choose the first one.
    In my opinion the songs were better, and I liked the idea of them being IN High School, rather than them being on a summer vacation. XD;

I've only seen the first and have no intention of seeing the other two. They're pretty well-done given their target audience, and while I'll never like them, I've seen way worse. Then again, it has to be one of the more unrealistic views of high school I've seen, hahaha.

I mean really, the hate they get is probably deserved for being over-the-top and childish in many respects, but they aren't like infamous movie blunders of the past like Rocky 5. If you go in expecting a real look at high school and love then of course you're going to hate it. It's a kids movie just like Madagascar and Monsters Inc. are. That's all I can really say in defense of the HSM series though, since the hype it gets is undeserved to be honest, and the music...it's not horrible, but how people can play thsoe songs over and over again baffles me =o

I think that the original one was much better than the ones they made after it. Thats just my opinion.

There really should be an "I hate them all" option. :/
I watched five minutes of the first movie and my brain turned into oatmeal. In my opinion, they're particularly painful to watch when you're actually IN high school and think of some of those naive 6-year-old girls who really think that high school students run around singing about how much their life sucks and whatnot.

Kay, I'm gonna lock this thread now. This thread was aimed towards people who enjoyed High School Musical, not to get flamed and joyed over how many people posted here dislike or even hates the series. Now, with that said, if you don't like something, don't constantly remind everyone on the fact that you hate it. Saying it once is enough, elaborating is appreciated, repeating it is just annoying and slightly irritating to readers; whether they like it or not.

Obviously High School Musical is not based on real life. Few movies from Disney are. If that's the only thing that's really keeping someone to continue to bash the series, since that's what I see the most, it's called open mindedness and is appreciated. But, like I said, it's one thing to state you hate it, it's another thing to bash it. Know that saying "no offense" to people who do like it doesn't stop the fact that you're doing what you're doing.

That said, here's an idea; if you see something of a topic you don't like, don't go in there, bash it by stating how much you dislike it, and then insult the movie's direction towards the audience and insult those who watch it that are not part of that audience.
