I have a route through my city which gives me over 900 items per hour. My pack is only 1000 items, so as I ride I dump red balls and revives to max out on the good stuff.

In case anyone doesn't believe me, I posted a video of the route on youtube -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7wgFvE48DEM

23 stops in 5 minutes gives me between 70-80 items. When I ride that loop 12 times in one hour I get ~900 items/hr (and 27600XP).

Heh...until someone posts a better route, I think I'm the king of collecting pokestops.

My bus route to work goes past five Pokéstops, plus there's an extra one right near where I work so on my morning/evening commute I could potentially be getting six lots of items. However, due to the inconsistency of the GPS on my phone, it tends to miss out a couple of them, so normally it's only three, maybe four lots of items.

Hah, I don't know if it's evident in my video, but I learned to use the GPS drift on my route.

There are several stops that I shouldn't be able to get, but I know if I pedal straight at a building and then make a quick turn the GPS will mistakenly walk into the building a bit and let me collect a stop on the other side.

    Other things that help:
    * I'm sure most people know by know you don't have to wait for the animation at each stop. Just push the X and you get all of the items.
    * You can click stops when you're still far away from them, and they *usually* turn blue as soon as you get close enough. It makes it much easier to get stops that are bunched together when you can line the first one up from far away. This doesn't always work, however, and if you find yourself on top of the stop and the picture is still purple it's a PITA to X out, reselect, and then collect.

My record was around 130 stops per hour. I left work that day around 6pm and didn't start heading home until 9. Tapped a total of 391 stops during that 3-hour period of time.

But that was completely on foot and mixed with catching Pokémon, evolving things, and hatching eggs. It's NYC. Many areas have half a dozen or more stops in a single block.

    Location, location, location...

Yeah, I started playing when I was in LA and the Walk of Fame was ridiculous. Like, every 3rd star was a pokestop.

I'm sure someone in a big city could do better than me, although my small city is nice in that I have little traffic. It'd be tough to make a complete route in LA without needing to wait for cars at some point.

My best over the course of one hour would be about 20, going back and forth between a 4 PokéStop cluster constantly with lures down. Man I really need to move to a bigger city...

Ok, now it all makes sense... Can I come live with you?

Dont forget, you get XP from a Poke Stop even if your bag is full ...

True, although it's still better to dump bad items for good ones. If I dump 100 red balls, only 50% of the new items I'll pick up will be red balls. I keep doing this until I have all potions, special balls, berries, and eggs.

I *never* dump potions (and I have *no* idea why so many guides recommend you do), but I will use them as I collect them until all the pokemons I care about are healed. Ultimately I aim to end my rides with full HP pokemon, ~700 balls, and ~200 potions.

Not sure on the EXACT numbers, but when I'm out and about downtown playing, I imagine I pick up around 100-200 items an hour, if not more considering I'm catching and battling gyms/healing along the way.

It's just all about location. Though learning that hitting the "x" at a Pokéstop automatically collects all the items for you saved me a lot of time!
