When you play through a game using a full party of 6 pokemon, do you spread your HMs throughout your team, or do you just have an HM slave that you bring whenever you need a certain HM?

I'm planning on playing through Platinum with 6 pokemon for the first time so I was just wondering.

I have an HM slave that, in Platinum, has Rock Smash, Strength, Rock Climb and Cut. Surf and Waterfall are on my Azumarill and my Tropius has Fly, both of which are generally in my main six, but I have my Staravia more than Tropius because it has Fly and Defog.

through out all my games I used hm on some of my pokemon. Now that I started over I used one pokemon for an hm slave. Which is Bidoof.

Yeah, I usually try to spread 4 of them out, and have an HM slave for the other 4. In the first 3 generations, I would try to spread them, but I thought it was a bit too hard with this series.

I usually have two HM slaves, but sometimes, I spread them out IF the HM is a awesome move like Surf, Waterfall etc.

I hate HMs. The idea of them is ridiculous. Gen 5 really needs to change it to items or learning skills that any Pokemon can use (without it having to be a move). How hard would it be to change cut into a key item 'hedgeclippers'? Or to change surf to a 'raft' or 'surfboard' item or something? Ugh.

I almost always feel the need to have a full team of six Pokemon, so I typically spread the HM's across all my team members and just get rid of the weak ones once I've played through the entire game.
