Isn't Paralysis usually shown as struggling to move while random sparks are coming off the pokemon? Also, isn't Guts shown as a more... drastic increase in power, with glowing red eyes?

I'm assuming that Guts hadn't been shown in the animé until that point so they could have chosen to show it in that way. I don't think that another Pokémon with Guts has been shown to be in a similar situation as that so it works out I think. I also don't know when glowing red eyes have been shown when using Guts so can you say where you got that from?

It's just speculation of course.
