i need to try to catch this virus because im having alot of trouble with the elite 4. i don't really know anything about Pokerus except for it makes the stats of pokemon raise better

All i can say its rarer than a shiny pokemon...so if you get it you are very very very lucky

This is pretty much in the FAQ already.
It's all luck, you just have to keep battling wild pokemon with physical moves to catch it (also make sure you are not poisoned or whatever). I believe the odds are 3/65536. You have a better chance finding a shiny pokemon (1/8192) so I suggest trading for it in the trade forum.
