In the showcase, I cannot tell what platform the ROM or Hack is for. anyone able to help me out?

It should tell you when downloading, and you can always find out on the interwebz.

You could ask the creator of the Hack, or something like that. But, if you read the first post, it should say what the Base is. :)
And, well, it didn't really go here because this is Community Questions & Feedback . . which, while you're right, is for questions, but not for these kind of questions XD; They're more for general stuff. If you have a question about something like this in a particular forum, contact either the thread creator or a moderator of that section. They'll be glad to help you, if you're civil ^^;
But hey, it's not that big of a deal! You're new and stuff, and everyone makes mistakes XD;
