7th Gen How do Ultra Sun & Moon compare to Sun & Moon?

Pokemon Ultra Sun and Moon took the franchise in a slightly different direction in terms of format. We received two games that weren't quite direct sequels but at the same time, they weren't the traditional third games we've seen in previous generations. For those who have played both, were you happy with how they turned out in the end? Were you satisfied with the changes that were made for two new games priced at the same price as Sun & Moon?

These two games pretty much make Sun and Moon obsolete, and that frustrates me.
