How do you deal w/nervousness

When I'm nervous I will walk around a lot. I can never sit still when I'm nervous. Sometimes I bite my nails. But not that often.

Ahh pacing. Something I always do as well. It doesn't calm me down much, it really just a reason for me to get out of my chair, but since I'll do it several times in succession it's more like a reflex to stress now if anything.

But yeah, just trying to put things in perspective usually work. Either that or getting absorbed in conversations for a few hours XD

My teacher bought me this thingy from Greece. You swing it around your hand, and it makes you look so cool, you concentrate on IT and not what your nervous about XD

That's not it, and I know it. It's the fact that your just concentrating on it that you stop worrying. It works great for me!

Well usually I just do what Razer said to occupy my mind in something, even though that doesn't help me clam down
Usually I just freaked out at the last 5 minutes and uh...Talked to someone and then when it's 30 sec before showdown..I usually forgoet what I'm suppose to do cause well, somebody distracted me...xD
but then to destroy my Nervousness, I just try to not think about it at all...

Well thanks for all the help everyone! My test was last night and even though I took quite a beating I got through it.:) Thanks again.
 
I jsut practiced until I was to tired to worry. That and sleep.
 
what i do is think of other things
 
I just don't care at all. Plain and simple. If it's a martial arts class then just worry about kicking the crap outta someone. That's how I deal with things.
 
Drink choc milk lol it helps for me XD
 
I usually listen to some Heavy Metal or any type of Rock music and I blast the music loud so I can forget what I was nervous about.

I tend to do meditation

But befor that

I do some boxing or some paractice for what ver im doing.

I then meditate for a while.
And listen to a piece of relaxing music.

or
i eat a bit of choclate it alwas calms me down. and makes me happy.
 
To deal with nervousness is fairly simple for me. I have certain things I think about to reassure myself that I will be fine and to not be nervous. But sometimes its hard not to be. >_>
 
I can't deal with nervousness to save my life. Well actually it depends what it is. When I've got a piano concert I usually get a bit nervous but I just think "It's the same piece and the same hands so why should I go wrong?"

I'm just reviving this thread cos I want to see more people posting in it XD

Question: How do you deal with nerves when it's because of the person you're around?
 
When I'm nervous/scared I tend to just talk to my friends about it, it ussally make me feel better. Or I just think once it's done it's done.
 
Ahhh.... oh.. I don't know. I've never been to any kind of martial arts tests (can't afford to go to classes *cries*) so I can't relate to the same kind of nervousness.

However, before big exams, I study hard. Its the only way to be sure that I'm doing my absolute best. Having the knowledge that I cannot possibly do any better than I am at that moment calms my nerves.

I also kind of go cold. Before my exam, I change. Its wierd. Some days I can barely remember the exam. But what happens is, I turn into a complete robot. My emotions just run dry. I think of nothing but here, now, and the exam. I just cease to think in a normal way. I don't feel anything.

Its not voluntary either, but it helps.
