Lately as I've been replaying some of the older games and playing through a couple of hacks, I've been using my imagination a lot to fill plot holes and make the adventure feel more unique to me. For example, lately after I've caught a pokemon to put on my team, I look at it's nature not only for stat and breeding info, but also to think about during every fight and how the pokemon is acting during battle. My "quirky" natured pokemon I imagine is sort of awkward during fights and might have a strange thing they do as a quality to each attack they do, or my "calm" natured pokemon keeps a calm mentality even during the most dangerous of battles.
Another thing I do is fill in weird plot holes and awkward situations by imagining that my character does something that doesn't happen in the actual game play. For example, I like to imagine that my character is a roaming private investigator who is actively tracking each villainous team across the pokemon world. Every time I've defeated a bad guy in a pokemon fight I imagine upon defeating their pokemon team, my character ties them up before progressing to stop the other bad guys, which is why the trainers don't move after being defeated.
I like to think that adding these imaginative qualities to my game play has also made grinding less boring. Does anybody else do this while playing their game, if so, any interesting examples?
