So how long did it take you to finish?

I just finished in less than a day with a Gyarados...

Took a couple weeks for me to beat Crystal, wanted to catch every Pokemon I saw.

Yer but MoonlightKnight, I'm talking bout the whole game, including Red...

I added bout 2 hours onto my time cause of getting my stupid Karp to lv20...

I presume the opening post was only talking about beating the elite four, I could do that in 8 hours max.
As for ripping through Kanto and beating Red thats another 6 hours worth

I beat the E4, took around 20-30 hours, bought it used so my internal battery died, after about 100 hr of gameplay total, it died. I kept starting new games

I was like 7, and didn't know how to make a team or w/e so i used my starter, and it was like 60-70 at the end of the E4, I struggled on the gyms that were hard, etc :P

Nope I mean from New Bark town,
    right up too Red xD

If this includes from New Bark to Red, it said 23:21, I spend most of my time playing games really, though that was when I was younger, anyhow, it was pretty boring after that, not much to do...

It depends on the person, and how much free time you have a day.
It could take about 30 hours of gameplay to finish it for one person, and 20 hours of gameplay for someone else.

You really shouldn't worry about time, and just enjoy the game.

About 10 hours by training only 1 pokemon... Chikorita.

I just got a new copy of Crystal today. I hope to take as long as possible so I can enjoy it. Heck, I got my Pokémon Diamond in September, and I'm still not finished it! I love to enjoy my games. I'm really excited about going to Kanto in Crystal... But I'll still take my time..

lol when I 1st got Red I was like 7 and it was one of my 1st video games ever. I couldn't even figure out how to get into the forest (right at the beginning of the game) for days. All I did was just train my Charmander in the tall grass and hope a lvl 5 Spearow showed up. Well I finally figured out what to do and the rest of the game was pretty each because when my Charmander was a lvl 28 Charmeleon by that time. I did end up catching some other pokemon, but those were last resorts for if my Charzard went down (which he didn't). He took out the Water gym on his own.

If I'm just rushiong through and using Legendary my best for beating Red is about 10 hours. You gotta love that Amulet coin. Helps with the money troubles of skipping over trainers.
