How long it takes anyone to play the game depends how quickly they play it, really... =/ There's no straight answer for this. If you've played any other Pokemon games though, this one is two regions long (Johto and Kanto, with Kanto being more a FR/LG size than the GSC size), you can refight gym leaders and whatnot, there's the Pokethlon replacing Contests to try out, a Battle Frontier, etc, so really you're looking at 15-20+ hours at a very bare minimum if you don't do anything after beating everyone, but I'd say easily you'll be able to spend far more time than that on this game if you don't rush through with some level 100 traded over and do side-quests, etc. But a simple google search or checking through the rules/Known Info thread would have given you a fair indication.
