How many girls play video games?

I always hear girls don't like playing video games, unless they're very young. I've met many girls that like playing them, but almost every boy I know do so, so I'd like to know how big is the difference or if there is one between boys and girls that play or not.

BEFORE VOTING, READ THIS. With "playing video games", I don't mean borrowing your brother's GBA and playing Tetris once a year. I mean you have to buy games regularly and play them in your free time, well you know. Just to make sure you understand what I try to say.

I buy them regularly whenever I have the money. I've subscribed to Tips & Tricks magazine, Nintendo POWER, Game Informer before. I like to talk about video games to my friends all the time. I'm a really huge fan of Nintendo and buy their clothing accessories. Many of the clothes that I wear are Nintendo related, and now my math teacher blames my tardiness on video games. o_O I've even been labeled as a "female gamer" before. And one of the places that I've always wanted to visit is the Nintendo World Store located in New York. Video games as always been apart of my childhood and I can never leave it.

I'm a video gamer of the female persuasion. In fact, I have a shirt that says "Not now. I'm busy" and it shows a stick figure playing a video game. xD

I've been playing video games all my life. Still do. When I'm not writing or reading (science fiction and fantasy! ZOMG! More things that stereotypical girls don't like! =0 ) I'm playing games on my DS. Good games, like Final Fantasy 6 Advance. That's my baby. If I ever get the chance, I also play Harvest Moon and Breath of Fire. My other lurves.

Are you asking this in the right place? I mean, if anyone of us doesn't play video games, how do we know Pokémon? And this is a Pokémon forum, where most people will say they play video games.

Yeah, I generally buy games for my PS2 and DS every month, usually two or three of each. I also buy gaming magazines for previews on games, and other stuff. Yes. And sometimes, I end up having to stay up all night to finish my homework because I was playing my game for too long, with breaks in between, of course.

Well, I do play video games, but to be honest, not very much of them. I think everyone plays video games (well, a lot anyways), but it's the boys who tend to be seen bragging about it. However, when it comes to Pokemon games (or any other kind of fun/party/kiddie games), even those that don't play games will come and play those types of games. MMORPGs - definately lots of people, regardless of genders, play those. Perhaps more girls play MMORPGs than actual video-games, but of course I could be wrong! :D

There are actually plenty of girls who play videogames (especially online if anyone plays online multiplayer), its just that the amount are much less in comparison to guy gamers. I'm not trying to sound sexist or anything.. I'm just saying based on observation.. xD

I have almost every Pokemon Game for the GB series, not only the RP's but also Puzzle Challenge, MD and Pinball. For the non Pokemon games, my collection is not so big: only Beyblade.
I've also borrowed the legend of Zelda: Minish Cap from a classmate. I've finished it. ^^
We also have a Gamecube where I usually play on. The Game I'm playing most of the time is Super Mario Sunshine, followed by Pokemon Colloseum and Beyblade.
A long time ago I played Spyro on a friends Playstation.
When I'm in the bookstore, I always read/scan through the Nintendo magazine. And I really want to play the Legend of Zelda: Twighlight Princess.

I'm a girl and I love video games *-* They're so much fun, however my brother has all the gaming stattions whilst I'm stuck with a Nintendo 64 and a Gameboy Advanced =/ My brother lets me borrow his PS2 and XBOX, so I still buy video games for myself to play on them XD.

From the persons I actually know that play video games, only 3 are girls, and two of them (my sister and cousin) don't play anymore, but they used to play a lot when they were kids.

I didn't think it was going to be like this here. Up to now, it's men 14 and women 11.

As a guy who is rather feminine in his actions (There are times online in different places that i'm mistaken for a girl), Its is really good to hear that there are still quite a few females who play video games. Some of the games I played online seem to have 90% guys(not talking about player characters either), which is a real letdown. And they tend to hide too....
