They have to make money, and they have to have enough to buy Full Restores and such. So how much monay do they make. (I know I misspelled money there it was suppose to make it sound funny if you say it out loud.)

They earn money by defeating the rookie trainers.

Well, I can imagine that working for the E4, but they also have to hand out thousands of dollars to the winners. 0.o

But in any one game there's really only one winner; you. :) That's why everyone freaks out about it.

Not every trainer can beat a Gym Leader. Why do you think only two names are the list of winners? Besides don't you have way more money than they give out?

Thats only for in-game memory. Obivously the games aren't going to put a long list of winning trainers, that would take forever. I've always imagined it to be like the anime where there is no written record of winning trainers. As for earning money, they get it the same way as normal trainers through their weekly allowance but they will earn more than the average trainer and the Elite Four getting more than gym leaders.

probably a lot seeing how their gyms are done. I think Volkner went broke after fixing up his gym, and Lance, gee willikers! His place is made out of gold!

What an odd ecnonomy the Pokemon world has, according to most people here... I'm sure, realistically speaking, they must get a good salary from whatever organisation holds the Indigo League. It's like some sports in the real world, fully organised with lots of popularity and money from sponsors; those tickets at the arena aren't free you know!

If the player happens to lose a battle, you're forced to pay out half the money you're currently holding. I always imagined that that applied to NPC's as well. This would mean that Lance had a total of P20,000 in his pocket when the player defeats him in HGSS...but that still gives no real indication of how much Lance earns from the Pokemon League for being a celebrity and all that. XD

Hmm.... whatever they make... it's a lot more than I'd know what to do with personally. Come to think of it... they've probably all got mansions somewhere, that is, if they get to leave their rooms O_o think about it they're always there day or night, same with gym leaders. They gotta get payed for that, lol

I'm pretty sure that the Elite Four would get paid from various organization. It's that, or they live off the money of fallen trainers....

they could be in the drug dealing business...

Nah, they probably kill some n00b trainers and steal some of their money :P

I don't think gym leaders get paid as much as the E4, They have to put money back into the upkeep of their Gym. I never thought about it or really paid attention to how much winnings I get from them XD

I highly doubt the Pokemon League would pay Gym Leaders. More like the other way around. They have to pay a yearly license fee to run an official Pokemon League Gym or something.

As for the Elite Four, they probably get paid. Although I don't think the champion would.

I think few people actually beat Gym Leaders. In the games there are various people that notice you have badges and think it's a big deal. Badges are certainly treated as a big deal in the anime. Also in the anime heaps of Gym Leaders (especially Gen I ones) are portrayed as very powerful and they show heaps of people losing to them.

I know. They even have universal health care for animals!

    Drug dealing... Hmm...

    Killing is illegal though. :3

Their respective Pokemon League must pay a fairly healthy salary considering how few trainers make it to face them and how many times you beat them on your way to Lv100.

I don't care about getting to one hundred. I just beat them up when I'm bored. :3

Other than getting money from defeated trainers i dont know how that would work
