Spongebob's jokes are definitely NOT meant for 7-10 year-olds like who are probably one of the target audiences of the channel.

The time to stop is when it causes some sort of problem. For some people, it might be peer pressure in midle school. Others, it might be a bethrothed who refuses to live with a few mountains of pokemon collectables. For some someday, it might be something related to being old and how that conflicts with pokemon. I'm outta examples-

I went to Toys R' Us for the Darkrai event...I traded with college students
One man even had the courage to be covered in Pokemon buttons, a Pokemon hat, trading away 6 boxes worth of Pokemon to everyone he sees, and passing out DP stickers...I was almost embarrassed. I think the point I failed to make is try not to be obsessed with it.
 
I'd stop following other people and be yourself.. don't listen to others.. if they say it's for kids, well then thats their opinion, don't let it stop you from playing Pokemon! no matter what age, you can still play Pokemon!
 
I was a "freak" when I first started playing the games at age 14. Seriously, though, why is pokemon still thought of as childish while it is still okay for people to play Zelda and Mario games no matter how old they are (except for the little freaks who think that anything that doesn't involve blowing your enemies' brains out is "kiddie"). Actually I think I know the reason: outside of Japan, especially, they marketed it towards slobbered mouthed little brats (no offence to those of you who were under 10 when you first started playing). It was the mass marketing. Not only that but the anime was dumbed down, and more attention was placed on it than the games themselves.

Sorry... I just had to get that out after 10 years of holding it)

Anyway... here's what I think:

If you still like the games then go ahead and play them. If those around you have a problem with you playing what you like then SCREW THEM! People who give people a hard time due to the fact they have different preferences are retards!! As long as you don't bug them about playing when they dont' want to, they shouldn't have any problem with you playing the games you like. I know you can have just as much fun playing alone as you would have playing with friends.
 
I'm 13.

Age IS only a number, I can understand why some people would care (ex. getting made fun of at school), but you should not let people get to you anyways.
 
yeah, i've been playing pokemon games since close to when they came out (back when i was in 3rd grade...those were some good times). back when it was a HUGE HUGE HUGE HUGE craze, and even though it has died down i still love em! me and my best friend were saying the other day that we were going to be playing forever, and that we were going to be the ones engaging in pokemon battles with our grand kids. i really could honestly care less what other people think about it. i think playing games were you just kill everything that moves around you are stupid and pointless, but i dont care if people like them, so they shouldnt care if i like pokemon!

Age doesn't really matter. I'm on a Power Rangers forum as well, and the majority of the people on that are in their 20s. If you like it, don't give it up because someone said it's uncool. Then you'll just become another one of those people that blends with the crowd and doesn't want to show their originality and individuality.
 
Thanks for the support guys really appreciate it, I just keep it between me and a few mates that don't care/play the roms too.

Age s only a number but lets face it, its not good to be the only guy in school or whatever been so unpopular.

I myself have often "quit" playing pokemon, but as I said, got into it again recently, and this has been going on for quite some times. I just am in the pokemon mood sometimes, then don't play it for sometimes a year, and then play it again. And I don't mind as long as I enjoy it, and it doesn't hurt other people, or myself. Nothing bad about it.

Feaw is right. Liking something you enjoy... there is nothing wrong with taht. As Shakespeare once wrote: "To thine own self be true..." never to peer pressure or discrimination.
 
yeah, i am one of the few people who play pokemon that i know! and also i go through phases of interest. maybe one month its guitar hero, the next mario kart, then like SSBB or something. but sooner or later i'll start playing a pokemon game and get hooked all over again! but in the end, im still a pokemon fan in the end! and nothing anyone says to be can stop that!

something freaky did happen to me though, recently i had this dream that my mom was going to force me off of pokemon completely @_@
 
Anyone who says you HAVE to be under a certain age to Pokemon is full of (insert curse word here, not used since kids may venture the forums)

Seriously, words can not express how tired I am of people saying that ¬_¬
 
Shoot, I'm fourteen and I ain't stoppin'. Well, playing atleast. There are only like three other kids that still play though, and two ofthose three are fanatics, while me and my other friend are gaming but not showing it off. And peer pressure is a load of bull. You don't have to let them know you play Pokemans.
 
People can call and say what they want for us who still love pokemon after a certain age. They feel it's time to "grow up" Just because people like pokemon doesn't mean they aren't grown up. I know plenty of mature people who are still in love with it. It is for all ages!
 
Theres no certain age to stop playing.
But I know my little brother who is 10
says people in his grade make fun of
people who play pokemon. So perhaps
the age is lower than 10 for other people
who don't play to find it acceptable.
 
I love playing. I will never stop playing.
Even my grandfather who's age is 78 keeps playing
"Scrabble" In my Computer :3. He is soo smart and intelligent.
Just like meh. Haha ^_^
 
I'll play pokemon until I don't like it anymore - it's that simple. c:

if you enjoy something, you might aswell do it, no?
