Of course the title is generic but you should already know the rest of it: How precise and detailed are you when it comes to hacking?

Do you like changing small and seemingly unimportant stuff?
For example, making running shoes work inside buildings for FR|LG. Not a vital part of your hack but something that might be convenient enough for the gameplay.

Do you "nitpick" in other hacks?
Do you like to feel other hacks to be innovative to the smallest detail? like, even changing the background music of 'everywhere'? Or do you just go along with the flow and enjoy a semi-modded ROM?

And a sub-question for those who like to specialize in researching the ROM itself:
Do you like to experiment on routines that normally don't need changing?
I think plenty of examples come to mind. If yes, then why do you do it?

I'd love to hear your answers on these questions. I'm a detailed individual myself, but even though I'm not exactly a fast learner I try to polish my hack as much as possible.

It really depends what I'm working on as to whether I'm detailed or not. When it come to tile inserting, I am absolutely OCD about making sure every tile has been divided in to it's smallest piece. So long as I'm not strapped for time, I sometimes find myself doing this for a tileset which will be largely empty. I guess I like making everything as efficient as possible and compressing simplified graphics into 8x8 squares :3

I'm also precise and detailed about my mapping, but I would say it isn't to the same extent as tile editing. I generally make a map and then go over it to make it better... Edit it some more to ensure it is perfect... Then edit it further to make the map a greater definition of 'perfect' in my eyes... This happens for a while and it is a never-ending battle.

I don't really obsess over scripting. If I can get a script to do what I want, then I'm happy - I'm not optimising anything :D

Uh it depends. I like to not reuse old scripts / sprites and stuff (but sometimes I can't find any so I just keep the old ones as placeholders). Oh and to replace tiles, although my current doesn't have new ones just because I'd like to keep it FR/LG style.

Like the Running Shoes in buildings? Erm... I don't think that matters much, especially since you play it on an emulator you can just speed it up anyway... But I do like changing the text scripts in Pokemon Center and PokeMart buildings and signs on routes, etc.

I'm extremely detailed, especially when it comes to placing Wild Pokemon with Advance Map. Instead of having 5 or 6 Pokemon with different levels, I make 12 Wild Pokemon available if I can be bothered.

Massively un-precise I have to map and re map each map i make about 7 times because every time I play through the game i found a new error and even then i feel the need to post virtually every map in the review thread just to make sure i have not missed anything crucial.

so am i precise for going over it and checking it silly amounts of times or am i not precise for making a shed loads of mistakes in the first place...?

I love changing stuff nobody will notice :D
I even like to add messages in the movement permissions, and secret areas and stuff.
Good things come in small packages. Lots of small packages mean lots of good things.
And, as Derrpy said about redoing maps all the time, well, I've lost count of how many times I've done that. Tiles too. Counting the old version, my current hack has went through 8 different styles.

And I'm not really that nitpicky tbh. There are a few things that annoy me but those are the same things that annoy pretty much anybody except fans of Flora Sky.

I'm a real nitpicker and try to make my hacks as close to perfect as I can in terms of maps/story/cutscenes(obviously sprites should move around a lot. My characters are very animated.) So I put a lot of time into making cutscenes more detailed.

But when it comes time for things no one can see, like movement permissions, 90% of the time I stick to 1s and Cs unless others are ABSOLUTELY needed. Unlike Gamefreak in R/S/E which has random movement permissions all over the place.

I wish some other completed GBA hacks had the same level of work put in as mine. I've seen some great maps, for example, but mediocre events and storyline.
