I don't think I'm breaking any rules by posting this on here but if I am I apologize.

I want to learn how to hack pokemon roms but I have no idea where to start or how to do it. Any tips and advice would be welcome as well as a good method to hack roms (just gba don't wanna mess with ds) without getting a virus on my computer or messing my computer up.

What types of things do you wish to accomplish?

A good starting point, in my view, is always a HEX editor. There are different types of tools available to make editing stuff easier, but I would tell a beginner to stay away from them, and learn the basics of the data works. That way, you'll learn.

Basically, come up with something that you want to change, and learn how to do with a HEX editor.

THIS thread (which was in the sentence "YOU SHOULD REALLY READ THIS THREAD" on the top of the begginer's lounge page) should help you out :)

Download Advanced Map 1.92 and start messing around editing the maps. Look at some AM tutorials. I wouldn't go into HEX editing yet, it all sounded a bit daunting to me at first, then I got the gist of other programs and suddenly Hexing (whilst confusing and doesn't seem to be working for me) doesn't sound that hard.
