Suggestion: How to possibly get rid of the slowness

I realized that these forums are rather slow. My suggestion is to remove all the members whom haven't been active in years because I've seen some accounts that haven't been active since 2005 while browsing the member list.

I figure the less members you guys have the smoother the forum would run.

That won't help any because inactive members has more to do with disk space (which from what I understand isn't a problem), while the slowness has to do with the number of people who are accessing the forums at the same time, which can only be increased by purchasing a better server or more bandwidth, something the staff has said it cannot afford right now.

inactive members take up no space at all, this has been brought up so much.
Like don said, its the number of people trying to use the site (as you can see is quite allot). With so many people browsing and clicking and whatnot, puts strain on the server.
We already tried cutting away at some features that pc used to have, which seems to have worked.
It could only be fixed with a better server, again as Don said.

As for the slowness, maybe your internet connection also? Pc seems pretty good to me. /besides posting

At least you're not on staff. We double post everywhere because of it. But yeah, there's really nothing that can be done, and removing members wouldn't be helpful at all. Plus, and I think a few people can attest to this, some people do actually come back that may not have even made a post back when they joined. I see that causing more problems tbh.

we should have less slow downs as compared to oh lets say 6 months or a year ago.. we've added some more RAMs to the server, which has helped a LOT during high usage times.

For me, anyway, PC loads up pretty fast almost all of the time now.. with only a few times where it was a bit slow.. and again that was due to many peoples trying to connect and post at once, so it was basically the web server waiting for the database server to supply data. (vB will lock some data tables as it's using them making other requests for same table wait, which in turn makes you wait)
