6th Gen How will Hoenn work now, in Gen VI?

It'll have more gates than the GBA version, that's for sure

Gates? What are you talking about? Hoenn doesn't need gates. owo

Considering the discussion of Rock Smash... Hmm... yeah, they need to bring it back as an HM. Otherwise, despite Rock Smash available at Mauvile, anybody can just trade a Pokemon with Rock Smash and skip most of Hoenn that way.

And I wish they'd include location-evolution in ORAS as well. I really wanted to use a Glaceon back at HGSS as well as B2W2, but surprise surprise, the rocks are not available in the former and post-game in the latter. I don't want to see that happening again in ORAS. .3.

Actually it did have gates, however, both belong to the Cycling Road xD.

I think they'll pull a B2W2 considering that Eevee and it's evolutions aren't in the dex and I doubt they'll add them in like that. Or worse they do pull a HGSS, continuing the Eeveelution curse in Remakes of not appearing unless they were introduced by the remake generation. Actually...I wonder if they'll even have Eevee available in these games...

I just hope we have a massive variety of water tiles to indicate depth. :E

Also, it would be strange for this not to work with PokeBank. ...maybe even an expansion for PokeBank? One can hope.

I just hope importing Pokemon from XY to ORAS with the use of PokeBank does not use real money :O

It's kinda hard if it needs real money tho coz you have to trade it in two 3DS's I believe? I don't know how GF will pull it off tho xD

@ XY > ORAS transfer will high likey run off local connections and 2DS-3DS fc info.

What are YOU talking aboot? Gates are part of the "unique egg hatch locations" for those collect em all peoples. Who needs reasons? Do barrel-roll! Bike in circles!

I'm sure all of X and Y's issues will be improved, remember when Gen 4 started? The battle system was sluggish, slow, and painful, but as Gen 4 progressed, so did the speed.
Gen 6 has just started, and Pokemon has been completely overhauled, we'll definitely see an improvement this time round, I'm certain of it! (I never even noticed any of these problems, apart from the 3D frame rate but I never use 3D anyway)
Agreed! I can't even go back to playing my old Diamond version nowadays since I've played HeartGold. It's superior over that engine in every way. They increased utilization of the bottom screen and really added on the polish. I'm thinking these games will be a lot like HGSS in that regard. Same engine, but with fixes to those little things that really grate on us. And I hope they'll fix the three dimensional movement too. It's really clunky on those rollarskates. Often, I can't get through a space because I'm going too fast to stop. I figure it's just the same issues that other games had when they switched to 3D in their early days.

I'm also hoping for a MOVABLE camera in-game. Rather than having it fixed at that same top-down angle most of the time, or... the hellish angle of Lumiose City that gets me lost all the time, they'll make it so that you can see the 3D dimensional environment at any angle that suits you. And maybe even a zoom-in feature! That'd make playing on this engine SO much better and make it more fitting to other 3D RPGs nowadays. I only hope if they do this, they do it RIGHT and don't have the camera dancing around all over the place like what tends to happen.

Cycling Roads in any region all have entrance gates so you wouldn't enter bikeless. Still not a route gate.

Pfft. The only unique hatch location I need is the Cathedral back at Sinnoh. P:

Also, varying depth water tiles is amazing, make it happen.

I wonder how they'll deal in making various camera angles without gates lol. xDD
Gates at my Hoenn is outrageous

Oh I thought we were talking about gates in general xD. Nope according to Bulbapedia (and my memory) those are the only gates in all of Hoenn. It's the most wide open region for that reason imo.

Sinnoh had the sandy desert zone in Battle Area gatehoused off north and south. Would not surprise me at all to see Rich Texan Wattson industrialize Mauville. "Wattson + bling hat" would be bronytastic.

Also
#1: dumb raised bike path had north and south gatehouse
#2: Fossil nerd-house of Emerald, where Ditto-Loudred cave was... way have gone next door to a gatehouse much like Copycat-girl did for the Johto trains
#3: westside Lilycove and that inconvenient route south from Mt Pyre with trees, dumb one-way ledges, and the Berry-atric oldies... might be gatehouse
#4: Sky Pillar cave entrance thing seems gatehousey

I wouldn't expect new gatehouses in Hoenn.

Technically, the gatehouses' original purpose in the first two gens was to serve as an excuse for the games to unload the set of graphics for the route you were coming from and load a different set of graphics for the route you were about to enter. It was back when Game Freak cared about making seamless transitions between locations on the overworld, and by that I mean Generations 1 to 4.

Since Gen 5, we get door-type transitions between maps while walking outside (the two areas of Nimbasa City, the streets of Castelia City, the two areas of Anistar City, the route west of Geonsenge Town, the transition between Dendemille Town and the outside area of the Frost Cavern...) , so I'm guessing they completely gave up on the seamless thing, and don't really have a reason to put up gatehouses anymore, other than tradition.

I agree, we probably won't be seeing more gates. However I do wonder if XY's gates aren't meant for the uploading of the areas seeing how the region is quite big. RSE managed to be seamless without having any gates between routes.
