How would you react?

So with the introduction of sky battles in X & Y, it got me wondering. Only flying pokemon can battle in them, so what about trainers in the ocean often using pokemon that make no sense (they can't swim or fly above water).

So how would you react if they introduced a rule that only pokemon that can swim or fly could be used when versing trainers while surfing?

That's the thing. Not working sense, is what Japan does best.
You can't take away their nonsensical imagination like that.

I for one welcome it also. If rules were put in place.
not just restricted and or if have wings to FLY
or it can swim if it is a FISH pokemon or the other, AMPHIBIOUS in general.

I like this idea. It would make the game slightly more challenging too. As soon as I know I'm goning to be bombarded with swimmers I shove the likes of Ampharos to the top of the party so I spend the least time thinking as possible lol.

Well, we did get something in OR/AS where we now encounter Ace Trainers surfing so that means more diversity in trainers battled on water routes which I admit was nice to see.

I agree that it would make a lot more sense, and it would also make these kind of battles a bit more of a challenge; personally, I would not mind this change at all.

Eh, presumably there could be land areas at sea. At a certain point, these are people hanging around in the open waters populated by jellyfish and so on, and apparently worse, so trying to introduce too much realism there might make little sense. In addition, while it might be a tendency, making it a generic rule may seem unnecessary, as it doesn't necessarily accomplish much. In any case, the 'flying' Pokémon could get struck down, etc., and unable to swim, paralysis could lead to problems, and in general it could be problematic.
