Has anyone seen the trailers for this? Apparently it's Miyazaki Hayao's newest movie, and the first one since Spirited Away to be released in theaters, I believe. Unfortunately, I think it's only going to be in limited release, so odds are the great majority of us will have to wait until its DVD release to see it. Is anyone else interested in seeing this movie?

Yeah..I've seen the previews for it...Spirited Away is really good. Miyazaki is pretty popular in the anime world...I think I'll wait for itmto come out on dvd though...

For some reason, I didn't really like Spirited Away. o_O I know Miyazaki's popular for his (right?) Japanese animation. ^^ I liked Kiki's delivery Service, and I look forward to Howl's Moving Castle - It'll probably be the first Miyazaki film I'll see straight from beginning to end! (All others I only saw near the beginning, or near the end. XD)

Ok, sounding a bit prudish I know, but how can you like Kiki's Delivery Service over Spirited Away?

I mean, Kiki's has incredible amounts of charm, its very childish and relatively innocent, like most of his early works. But, it does not compare to the incredible conflict in Princess Monoke (sp? His arguably best film) or the rich, vibrant world painted in Spirited Away, where a mere child can turn the demon world upside down, nor can it compare to the pure beauty of Castle in the Sky.

Kiki's is good, but IMHO I can't believe it can be stated as being better then Spirted Away.

Oh, and does anyone have a link to where I can see the trailer for Howl's Castle?

I've been looking forward to Howl ever since I heard about it last year, as I read the book and it really is excellent~

    I just saw tha trailer!

YAY! MIYAZAKI-SAMA IS RETURNING TO HIS CASTLE IN THE SKY STYLE! WERIDNESS FOR EVERYONE! *cheers wildly*

Well, I saw it. Lots of times.... IT WAS SO COOL! I can't wait to watch it!

The only thing I've seen from Miyazaki was Spirited Away. I did though see previews for all his other work. I totally agree with you. I saw the preview many times for Kiki's Service and would so pick SA then KDS.

I've been waiting for this movie for a long time now, I've read the book, and I've seen it in Japanese. This week I was so looking foward to seeing, as it comes out today. But it's not playing anywhere in Florida...

Here's a link to the trailer and five clips of the English Dub... https://movies.yahoo.com/shop?d=hv&id=1808474150&cf=trailer

I've heard that it's being released nationwide next week...does anyone know if this is true?

Meh...I really think Miyazaki sold out a long time ago. Spirited Away was one of his last good films...whenever he says he's going to retire he needs to mean it, not come back two years later "reinvented".

As for this movie, it's okay, nothing big compared to his first few films.
    .

Well, I can't blame him for not wanting to stop making anime...

As long as he keeps making quality works, I won't complain if he refuses to retire. :D :P

Mmhmm...keyword: QUALITY. Nothing like Nausica? or Porco Rosso or anything like that. I know those are some of his earlier works, but I really don't think his style has changed that much since the early 1980s.

Well generally speaking Miyazaki didn't need to change style to stay "good". Personally Laputa (Castle in the sky) and My Neighbour Totoro (or however you spell it) will remain two of the biggest classics ever. Being that, if Miyazaki did decide to make anime with those same styles, should the animtor really be to blame?

    lol, Ha!

I've actually seen the actual film in Hong Kong last easter.

It was really funny, although the film can be quite boring in middle of jokes.
Music was not very good, unfortunately, IMO.

Was Nausicaa bad? I haven't seen it yet, but I heard good things...

It was pleasant to watch, but not exactly breathtaking. I still recommend watching it, but I was trying to hold it to the unfair standards of Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away when I watched it, so my perception was probably tainted.

Well, I've seen the trailers for this movie on Adult Swim. <3~~~ I really hope to see it - though I doubt it'll play where I live. <__< But I won't mind waiting for the DVD.

All I know is that this movie is bound to be awesome when you look back at how great Spirited Away was. ^^ But that's just my opinion. ^_~

When they said limited release, they weren't kidding. I can't even find a theater showing it in the entire state =/ It's unimaginable that they would think that they couldn't turn a profit releasing it in more than a handful of theaters...
