So I'm very curious about this sort of thing, I kind of wonder. So I shall ask.

Do you take any pleasure when you find out you ninja'd someone else who was posting

Do you get annoyed when you get ninja'd? If so, how much and how exactly do you react to it?

If you could somehow implement a non-invasive technical prevention of ninja-ing or being ninja'd, would you do it? Or do you have too much fun on PC as it is, Ninjas and all?

I do kinda get a smile out of it sometimes, but I don't exactly go out of my way to try to ninja anybody. Oftentimes I'm the one being ninja'd. XD

Nah. Not really. Life is too short to get annoyed about that.

I actually would implement that sort of system. But obviously doing so on an existing forum like this is impossible because the idea I have in mind would take a massive amount of modification. You'd have to like...install everything fresh and make the modifications before you let anyone post. So yeah, it's never going to happen and I'm never going to suggest it but it's a pipe dream. :p

Internet N00b question time: What the !@#!#$ is to ninja someone?!?

Internet N00b question time: What the !@#!#$ is to ninja someone?!?

To 'ninja' someone means when you are replying to a post in a thread and in the time it takes you to reply, someone else gets in before you and says what you were going to say :)

To be honest, it does irk me a little when someone ninja's me, but it's nobodies fault so it's just a mild irritation, nothing more. After all, the ninja couldn't have known they were ninja'ing somebody. That's also the reason I get no pleasure out of ninja-ing other people lol

I know there are fancy forum systems available to prevent ninja-ing, but I don't think they're really necessary. It's not that big of a deal to me personally, and if you think about it it's kind of cool knowing that more than one person is rushing to answer your threads :P

    To answer most simply, I /don't/ get ninja'd. ;o

But in all seriousness, I take my time posting and never really post something that can really be ninja'd in the sense that someone posting before me has any effect on my post. |D

    >Do you take any pleasure when you find out you ninja'd someone else who was posting
No, lol. What the hell who takes pleasure at this?

    >Do you get annoyed when you get ninja'd? If so, how much and how exactly do you react to it?
Nope, if I would get annoyed at just being ninja'd then I would be pretty easy to piss off as a person. Meaning, it doesn't really affect me. Besides, when I get ninja'd, I fail to notice it most of the time.

    >If you could somehow implement a non-invasive technical prevention of ninja-ing or being ninja'd, would you do it? Or do you have too much fun on PC as it is, Ninjas and all?
I don't care either way... but I guess with the forum as it is, we have one more poster classification; the ninjas.

I think people who take pleasure out of ninjaing someone need to get out of the house more and re-evaluate some things. Yeah, I get annoyed when I get ninja'd, since my answer is usually so much better and more helpful than someone else, but it isn't that big of a deal to me.

I also hate the word ninja being thrown around like this. What an insult to the real ninjas.

Sometimes, if I ninja someone I'll be like "HAHA SUCKAS" as a joke, but honestly, I don't care. I really don't give a crap if someone ninja's me. It's the internet, it's not a big deal. I can't take something as minor as that seriously. And if anyone cares *that* much about being ninja'd, I... really don't know what to say. They need to look at their lives, and look at their choices, seriously. And I don't think an anti-ninja system is necessary in the slightest, just edit your post accordingly if you get ninja'd, it's not that big of a deal.

    >Do you take any pleasure when you find out you ninja'd someone else who was posting?
Not really no. I feel kinda bad because then the other person might have used QR which doesn't show the last reply if it was posted after you got on the page, so then he goes off the page and has no idea, lol.

    >Do you get annoyed when you get ninja'd? If so, how much and how exactly do you react to it?
A little bit because I don't like deleting posts, but I don't want to leave a redundant post there. It's a bit of a pain. But not angry at anyone in particular.

CQF was kicking around a suggestion once for a thing that stops your post from posting if there has been another post since then, sends you back to the edit screen, and lets you read the latest post to see if you want to change your own. I've seen that on other forums and would be very happy to have that here.

    >Do you take any pleasure when you find out you ninja'd someone else who was posting?
I don't really get a kick out of ninja'ing people, but rather I am usually like "Wait what. I ninja'd him? Heh" because I usually take forever to type my posts out, so I am more amazed I managed to ninja someone, than pleased.

    >Do you get annoyed when you get ninja'd? If so, how much and how exactly do you react to it?
Not really, I mean, it's highly unlikely anyone was TRYING ot ninja you, so it was just a coincidence. :\

    >If you could somehow implement a non-invasive technical prevention of ninja-ing or being ninja'd, would you do it? Or do you have too much fun on PC as it is, Ninjas and all?

I like what Toujours said. xD

I take pleasure in the sense of someone taking pleasure in something cool happening to them without them realizing it.

I don't get annoyed, but I do say something like, "Dammit, ninja'd again!" like a villain who just got his plan foiled. I'm like Toujours, I hate deleting a post; so I'll edit it to clarify my getting ninja'd, and explain how my post was similar to the ninja's.

No. I have way too much fun here even with ninjas abound. However, I do like the idea Toujours posted with the "Return to the edit screen if there's a post that was made". I've seen it on another few forums, and it was implemented pretty well.

I cannot stand the term "ninja'd" and I will never use it in a serious manner. You post after someone, then whatever. No big deal. No point in deleting/editing your post to say "lolz ninja'd!!1" That being said, I don't really notice or care if I apparently ninja someone.

    No.

Nah. It's not really a big deal to me.

The only place I post in anymore is OVP, where you can't ninja people at all. Actually, that's why I don't post in CQ&F even if I really want to: by the time I'd finish my reply, a billion people would've already posted. If someone else's already replied, I don't see a need for me to as well. It's less an annoyance and more of mild disappointment and not wanting to be a waste of space. So I stay out of CQ&F. As for beating other people, if that happened, maybe I'd feel some minor amusement, but nothing more.

I wouldn't want software designed to yell at you if there's been a post after yours, not as someone who posts in forums where it doesn't even matter. It'd just be annoying to me.

Do you take any pleasure when you find out you ninja'd someone else who was posting?: For the most part, yes, though I kind of feel sorry for the person who posted after me.

Do you get annoyed when you get ninja'd? If so, how much and how exactly do you react to it?: Sometimes. When that happens, I put in "Accelgor'd" instead of the original "ninja'd" because Accelgor is a Pokemon based on a ninja.

If you could somehow implement a non-invasive technical prevention of ninja-ing or being ninja'd, would you do it? Or do you have too much fun on PC as it is, Ninjas and all?: I'd rather have fun ninjaing other people while getting ninja'd in return.

    >Do you take any pleasure when you find out you ninja'd someone else who was posting

Not really. But it's fun to see the ninja'd person's reaction sometimes. XD

    >Do you get annoyed when you get ninja'd? If so, how much and how exactly do you react to it?

lol no. I simply edit my post and said, "Ninja'd." And try to keep on topic.

    >If you could somehow implement a non-invasive technical prevention of ninja-ing or being ninja'd, would you do it? Or do you have too much fun on PC as it is, Ninjas and all?

    You mean like this?
    Spoiler:

    *shot*

Unless I'm aiming to be the first person to respond to a given topic, I don't care about being ninja'd. However, if previous responses make my own response obsolete, I guess I could get a little pissed off: especially if the previous responses are crappy in comparison to my eloquent and thought-out one (ha!). But, for the most part, it doesn't really bother me.

    Nope. ='D I don't really care if I ninja'd someone tbqh

Do you get annoyed when you get ninja'd? If so, how much and how exactly do you react to it?

I do however get kinda annoyed when I got ninja'd especially in other trivia games >.<

If you could somehow implement a non-invasive technical prevention of ninja-ing or being ninja'd, would you do it? Or do you have too much fun on PC as it is, Ninjas and all?

    I wouldn't bother to implement something like that to prevent myself or others being ninja'd because I thiiink it'd add some strain to the server which will cause it to crash more often and load slower than it is right now which is already reeeeeally slow ;A;

    Nope.

A bit. I just usually delete/edit the post that was ninja'd.

I do quite like it when I happen to ninja someone, I mean it's just a fun little thing that happens. No need to be serious about it. :3 I mean I don't try to ninja people--I just type my answer as fast as I can and hope it's helpful like everyone else.

Do you get annoyed when you get ninja'd? If so, how much and how exactly do you react to it?

    I like it when I get ninja'd. xD I think it's funny.

If you could somehow implement a non-invasive technical prevention of ninja-ing or being ninja'd, would you do it? Or do you have too much fun on PC as it is, Ninjas and all?

There is a way of doing this. Just click "Preview Post" while you're in advanced mode, and look down at the small list of posts to see if any have been made since you started posting.
Besides, if someone else just happened to finished first, that means they answered first and it should be shown that way. No need to be a sore loser about it. (Lol not really "loser" but you get what I mean.)

The first time I ever ninja'd somebody I was like 'yay' it wore off after like... 10 seconds. I don't really care when I get ninja'd. It doesn't happen much because I rarely post in the places where getting ninja'd happens a lot, except quick question threads but I'm usually p-quick at them. :3c What? lol no.
