I am playing a Nuzlocke challenge on Pokemon Platinum, and I've just got to Eterna Forest. My first wild encounter is a double battle with Buneary and Budew. I haven't caught any of the species before, and so the Species Clause, or whatever it's called, can not effect what I catch.
So what do I do?? Do I catch a specific Pokemon, do I just catch whichever I want or do I have to run?? (or perhaps, maybe can I catch both?)

Just catch whichever pokémon you want, simple as that. You can't catch both because the game literally won't let you, but you can faint one and catch the other.
    Thanks.
I already caught the Buneary, (WHILE I REALLY WANTED THE BUDEW, BUT THAT GOD DAMN CHANSEY GOT A CRITICAL EGGBOMB ON IT), and I guess I'm fine and didn't cheat.
    Thanks anyways :P

Glad you got the help you needed! Next time, since we do have a forum focused on Pokémon game challenges, you can ask these questions in the Challenges chat thread located in the Challenges forum itself as it's the better place for it rather than here.

Have fun playing and we'll be looking forward to seeing your progress there!
