1st Gen I believe you play as Ash in Pokémon Yellow

I posted this before on a different site, but I believe it's best to share my reason why I think Ash is playable in Yellow on this forum.

So I know people think you play as Red, the protagonist of Pokémon Red, Green, and Blue in Pokémon Yellow, but I believe that in Pokémon Yellow you play as Ash Ketchum and I have a few good reasons why. As most people know, Pokémon Yellow is based on the anime version of Pokémon and it changes stuff in Yellow to fit with the anime (which is why I think you play as Ash).

Here are a couple of reasons why I think you play as Ash.
- Pikachu is your starter Pokémon
- The main character was redesigned to look like Ash

- Brock and Misty's sprites were changed to fit the anime desings as well
- The rival of gen 1, Blue was changed as well to look like Gary Oak

- Jessie and James make appearances in Yellow, but not Red, Green, or Blue
- Pikachu's cry is replaced with his voice from the anime
- The protag gets Bulbasaur, Squirtle, and Charmander in similar ways like Ash did
- And finally Pikachu won't stay in a Pokéball instead he will follow you like in the anime

And that's about all that I could think of! As I said, I believe that Ash is the playable character of Pokémon Yellow and not Red. Of course, post your opinions if you want and let me know what you think!

It definitely mimics Ash's experiences in the anime, down to being able to find wild Pidgeotto in Viridian Forest (not something available in any other Kanto game) like Ash did. Ash is loosely based on Red, but there are a lot of parallels in Yellow that make it pretty clear it's strongly inspired by the anime specifically I think. Not entirely, but pretty darn strong I'd say! I tried to do an Ash Pokémon-only run at some point, not sure if I finished but I got pretty darn close lol.
