I can't believe pokemon has turned to this, I have been a serious fan ever since red and blue, now look at the fans, its as if you forget what the game is about, its some fun. No one ever appricates simple playing anymore. It's a shame coz am 16 now and I'm growing out of pokemon, I loved it to, but no one can persuade me to keep it up. Anyway :( before I leave my childhood lol what was your favourite game? Character? Mine was Ash I guess, I'll never forget them old skool episodes, or the summer's sitting with friends playing on gold and silver all night waiting for eevee to evolve ^-^

What exactly do you mean by that? I know those games were classics, but I'm sure you wouldn't wanna play Gold and Silver over and over when a much better version is at your disposal.

I'm pretty sure when you join a website devoted to this game, you stop being a casual player.

But not to be spamming, I liked Yellow the best. Pikachu was awesome. I never ever evolved it though, I loved when it follows you around.

Why can't you carry on watching it?! ^_^ I think that as long as you love something, you should keep doing it however old you are growing :P I gave up Pokémon once for about two months, and then I realised I was being dumb :P So I carried on! ^_^ My favourite character is Misty and Cynthia ^_^

lol sorry to aggrevate anyone, I don't mean too. But its like you look at this site, then think back to blue and red (only for the old school pokemon fans this is) and think about it, can you believe it has turned into this. I LOVE pokemon don't get me wrong, but I feel like i should grow up or move on :(...but wotever, wots ur favourite gym leader of all time, mine was Erika of eKurtc city or w/e ^_^

Crystal, IMO, was the greatest Pokemon game of all time.

But you don't see me trying to compare it tot he newer games.

I'm 18, And I've been a fan since it's came to American shores. I hate the show (Save the Japanese version of the Raikou Special), but I LOVE the games (Plus I collect both Cards AND Action-Figures). I shamelessly bought a Cherrim Pokemon Plush recently, along with 8 Action Figures. I don't care what people think u.u

All Series have to grow up sometime. Final Fantasy went from Turn-Based, to ATB, to Real Time. Mario wents from 2D to 3D platforming. Pokemon made changes for the better. Abilities of the 3rd Gen and the Physical/Special Change of the 4th helped alot more Pokemon than it hurt. It's still changing, and I can see a bright, long, future for the franchise as a whole.

Anyways, I played the Color and Metal Generation games, and they were the best thing ever back then, so don't say I'm not an old school gamer.

I can't really remember any of the gyms though, too far back in my mind. I booted up my Yellow version the other day, and in my team I had a Mewtwo, Zapdos, Articuno, Moltres, Pikachu, and somin' else. I did love battling Lance of the E4, that was crazy fun.

I still don't exactly understand what your issue here actually is. Aside from apparently feeling you're too old to like Pokemon. If that's all it is, I don't really even understand the point of this post at all, then; since, if you feel you're too old and mature to like Pokemon, why have you joined a forum dedicated only to Pokemon, just to tell us you don't like it anymore?

Maybe it would help if you gave a more specific reason why you "can't believe it's come to this."

If you're talking about the whole obsession with EV/IV, then I am inclined to agree with you, it doesn't hold a whole lot of interest for me. But you don't HAVE to focus on that; there is much more to the game to enjoy.

I can see where he's coming from and it happens a lot with competitive games. I remember when I played the Yu-Gi-Oh TCG just for fun and then I started to play in tournaments and go to Regionals and found out that the game is a lot more complicated and it wasn't all just for "fun" anymore, but for pure competition for most people including myself.

Pokemon has a much lighter tone though, but now that I play it more competitively it's become more like YGO for me. However, I still have a lot more fun with it because I've been playing it ever since I was a kid, before I got into YGO and the whole "feel" or the game is a lot more entertaining.

I believe when the tone of a game changes like this it gets good and bad. The good thing is that now you know more about the game and can learn to play at a much higher competition level which some people like and some people don't. The bad thing is that most people who do play at this level don't play for "fun," but just to win and aren't as "fun" to play with and will resort to copying other player's set ups just because their's was more effective instead of being original. It's just the way it goes. It's happens with pretty much all multiplayer games, especially online games like Halo 3 and Final Fantasy 11.

Yeah, Im sixteen and I dont let people execpt for my bet friends know Im into Pokemon. Its like, Im bisexual and people expect me to be the cute, popular gay guy who has all the friends at a prodominately black school so, Im kinda glad its evolving. Its harder too but its hard to shake the old ways of training, not worrying about EVs and IVs. Its not really for littl kids any more. Its gotten mature as the original fans have.

On topic: Water Dragon, I could care less if you had a Pokemanz-inflicted nervous breakdown on a Pokemanz website. However, you haven't bothered to explain yourself, why you think Pokemon has become what it has become, or even what you think Pokemon has become. You've just been babbling incoherently about God-knows-what. So please: make some sense.

Fav game, Crystal. Fav character, Cynthia. I don't have a problem with how pokemon is today and neither should you.. If you're a real fan, just accept it how it is with all of the competitive and strategical flares with occasional cheaters and quirks and the ever so loved comment of pokemon being childish or lame.. Have fun with the games if you like them and you're still a kid so enjoy it while you can. It seriously hasn't changed that much..

This doesn't belong in the dp forum and I'm sure there are polls in pokemon general about fav games/characters now.. But yeah, you shouldn't be acting mopey and unclear about the series on a pokemon fan forum. Methinks this would be better closed.
