3rd Gen I can't catch Sandaa [Zapdos]... and I even used 99 Haipaa booru [Ultra balls]!

hm... nothing is wrong... legendary and rare pokemon.... are not that pokeball-friendly. that would be .... all the balls except the stupid master ball.

to me its just another challenge to catch...... Sandaa... Zapdos....... but its fun. *goes into battle with Sandaa*

*uses master ball*
*Sandaa captured*
*stylish victory dance that ash does*

... hey..... if i was gonna use the master ball why did i weaken it?

That's how much trouble I had with Zapdos in Yellow version. It does seem that legends do get harder to catch if they are asleep so try paralyzing them instead. Works for me sometimes. But meh, sometimes you can be lucky and catch the hardest ones to catch with a Pokeball and no status ailments. It's pure luck.
 
Youre after Sandaa! Ahh, its a good pokemon
Best bet is to , get hold of a pokemon that can confuse them! and paralize them!
A snorlax is useful to!. Keep a few of them on you! and have a few revives handy!
Make sure you have body slam, for the paralizations!

it could hapen, i caught a rayquaza in ruby with a pokeball. you should try some otherballs maybe?
 
i caught a pikachu with a pokeball... and i didn't need to even weaken it! XD

the best thing you can do rite now...... is just give up if u can't catch santa clause.

or just write in your wish list for a pokeball containing a zapdos XD

well...

You have to make it sleep while its HP is red. So it will be weak and can't struggle as much (if at all). thats how i cought mine on red, I Had A LOT of trouble with Sandaa too, I even used a master ball and it missed... Wach out though those legendary brids can doge your pokeballs too.
 
If you guys noticed, in the newer Pok?mon games, the Pok?ball never misses anymore! I've noticed that only in the origianal R/B/Y series where you can miss with a Pok?ball.

Even then, I still successfully captured the three legendary birds without too much trouble. Here's how I caught them in R/B/Y:
1. Use Raticate's Super Fang about 8 times, thus lowering the Pok?mon's health to 1 HP, if not really close. (Anymore and you risk knocking it out when it does have 1 HP. Super Fang takes off half of the Pok?mon's health, but always rounds up the damage if it can't divide by 2 evenly.)
2. Use a Pok?mon that can use a move that causes sleep.
3. Use a Pok?ball.
4. Have to use different combinations of buttons to keep the bird in. Left+B seems to work a lot, but other ways seem to work on certain Pok?mon. (Because I use this method, I successfully obtained ALL Pok?mon in standard Pok?balls, in all of the Pok?mon games.)
 
This is how i catch legendaries
Needed items - a pokemon with mean look [only if opponent can run]
a pokemon with a sleeping move
a pokemon with false swipe (is that in FRLG) - if u don't have that then use a pokemon with 2 moves - one not super effective and one super effective
plenty ultra balls
Strategy - Lead with mean looker if nessary then switch to appropriate pokemon and use sleeping move
use false swipe 2 bring pokemon hp in red and then use ultra balls

Jynx should be used because she learns mean look and lovely kiss
and syther for false swipe or marowak[does he learn it?]
 
Ok, I'm just going to post this because this annoys me...

When you want to use a Pokemon's name in Japanese, don't be afraid to use the romanized version. Thunder rather than Sandaa and Hyper rather than Haipaa. They are interchangeable. Using strict unromanized Japanese doesn't make you cooler.

It's Sandah not Sandaa. Anyway catching Zapdos isn't that hard just let it sleep and weaken it... at least that worked for me catching my fave Poke.
