How do you catch mew in blue version?
You had to go to a Nintendo event. =/

Or 'shark, like Ian said.

There was this Toys R Us thing that went around.

I only remember it because it was on my birthday and we went out there at like 4 AM to get in the line. XD

:o *dies* Lol... I see, well still I didn't know that. ^^; Hmm... oh well, I guess the only way now is the shark.

I caught a Mew in... Blue with teh shark. xD It's so lame and cheesy though to cheat. xD Mews Pshycic will kill almost everything... regardless of resistence or weakness. -_- :P

EDIT: Crap, that's why everybody likes him. :P

I found Mew to be slightly... well, useless. He really isn't all that powerful.

Especially since you got him at level 5, even if rest of your party was at level 80. -_-'

Catching the Elusive Mew... the hard way

It is true that Mew cannot be caught in Pokemon Blue as others are caught, but it would seem that there are two ways to encounter it without using a cheating device.

1. While using the very glitchy MissingNo. item duplication cheat, there is a slight chance of encountering a level 255 Mew on the eastern coast of the righthand Seafoam Island. Unfortunately, the Pokemon you encounter there is not certain (I don't think it is precisely random, as I've heard that it has something to do with the selection of characters in your trainer's name). I see mostly Weezings and Squirtles for some reason... :mew2: even my trusty level 100 Mewtwo had troubles there. (Have you ever sustained a hit from a level 255 Squirtle using Skull Bash !? I didn't think so.)

2. I have not confirmed this method, but at Supercheats I found a few paragraphs that give very detailed instructions concerning how to catch a level 7 Mew. Unfortunately most people have to restart their games in order to use this, or have the knowledge necessary to find trainers to substitute for the ones mentioned. Here it is:

Restart your game and play until you get HM02 Fly from the house west of Celadon City.
DO NOT fight the following trainers:
The Youngster with a Slowpoke (Level 17) on the road to Bill's house (Route 25). He is the fourth trainer after you cross Nugget Bridge, standing directly above a female trainer and facing north.
The Gambler with two Poliwags and a Poliwhirl (all Level 22) between Lavender Town and Saffron City (Route 8). He is standing just east of the entrance to Saffron City, facing north toward the door of the Underground Path.
Carefully follow the series of steps illustrated below.

Make sure you have a Pokemon that knows Fly. On Route 8, stand in front of the door of the Underground Path. Save your game, since saving after this point will disrupt the procedure.
Walk down one step and immediately press Start. If you succeed, the menu will pop up before the Gambler "sees" you. Go to the Pokemon list and fly to Cerulean City.
The Gambler will see you just before you fly away.
Your Start button will no longer function. Go north across Nugget Bridge and head east until you find the trainer in this picture (he's the Youngster described above).
If you walk right up to the Youngster, the game will lock up, so you'll have to let him see you and walk up to you. Defeat his Slowpoke (afterwards, your Start button will work again), then fly to Lavender Town.
Head west into Route 8.
As soon as you enter the narrow path, the menu will pop up by itself. Press B to exit...
...and look who it is! Mew will be at Level 7 and its only attack will be Pound. Pokeball, go!

Once you've caught Mew, you can save your game without any ill-effects.

I hope this helps! :knockedou

There is also another way to catch a level 7 mew. This method can be done as early as the first time u enter cerulean.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It is call the TMG (Teleport Mew Glitch) and this is how to do
it. Ok, when you enter Cerulean City go to the Pokemon Center and heal even if
you have full hp. Then once you've done that, make sure you have 4 or less
pokemon. If not put enough in your PC so you have 4 or less pokemon. Then once
you have done that, head out and go north to nugget bridge. Then your rival
should come up. Beat him and go heal if you have to otherwise go and beat the 5
poeple on the bridge and the rocket person that gives you the prize (nugget)
After you beat him, SAVE IT. Once you have done that head north then left over
the river so your right next to the mountain. Then if you go down you should see
a guy hiding in the grass. DO NOT VERSE HIM. If you did, turn your gameboy off
and on and do it again. Instead of versing him. Keep walking around in the grass
untill you find an Abra. Then catch it. I have heard that you can only catch
Abra there only in Red and Blue. As for yellow, I think, that you can catch it
on Route 8. Well once you have caught it, save it. Abra should be in your
line-up now. After that head north just one step/screen above the guy in the
grass. Take one step to the right so that you are now directly above him but he
is still off your screen. *NOTE: If you verse him during the process of doing
this, turn you gameboy off and on.* So now that you are above him but cant see
him, press down and then press start quickly after you press down. If you did it
right, your start menu would now have popped up and you are able to see the guy
left of the start menu. If you did it wrong turn it off and on. Now that your
menu is up. Click POKEMON, then go to Abra and click Teleport. The guy will see
you just as you teleport away. Now you should be at the pokemon center without
the start button functioning. Now head back to nugget bridge but this time take
a right. You should come upon 2 hikers. Try to avoid them and find a way
through. After you have passed 3 trainers, you will see 2 more trainers. A boy
and a girl. Now we have to verse the boy. DO NOT WALK UP TO HIM otherwise your
game will freeze. Instead, simply walk up then right and make him walk towards
you. So now you are in a battle. He will send out a Slopoke. Beat him. After you
have beaten him, your start button will start to work properly again. So press
start and Teleport to the Pokemon Center again. Now if you haven't already,
stack up on pokeballs at the mart. You should have at LEAST 5 pokeballs. Once
you think you are ready, SAVE IT, cause if you mess up you would have to do it
all over again. Now head back to nugget bridge. Walk north to the bridge and
your start menu will pop up. Simply press B and await your Mew battle.
This has been tested and has worked many times.
can the TMG glitgh be used later in the game? and also..... they both use the slowpoke kid.....weird.....
You cannot catch him,you will have to get him at a nintendo event,which does not happen for mew anymore,so you can use codes,that's the only other way,or find someone who has one and duplicate it,or just simply trade for it.
hey............actually by usinga method which i posted it earlier............u could purposely lose to the slowpoke kid...........so u can do the trick over and over again...........
There's another way you can do it without the Slowpoke kid(with Merron's way).You need a Pokemon at Lvl.15 with a special stat of 21(I use a Psyduck I caught at the Safari Zone). Instead of flying to Cerulean fly to Fuschia. Again,your start button won't work. Go past Fuschia to that route on the opposite side of the bike route. Battle and beat any one trainer on this route(without going right up in his/her face,or else your game will glitch up). Then battle a Ditto in the grass. Make it turn into your Lvl.15 Pokemon before you beat it.Then fly to Lavender and do the rest the same way you did with the Slowpoke kid. Using this alternative,I have obtained multiple Mews. :) Also, there is a way to get any Pokemon in the game with this.(I'll tell you about that later because I have to go soon)
