    Spoiler:

The Orange Islands count as a region. :\

To answer your question, they leave the region of Kanto and the Indigo Arc comes to a close in episode 82. This arc is significantly shorter than the first, having only 4 gyms instead of the usual 8.

    Spoiler:

Oh ok thank you i thought i would have to watch ALOT of filler episodes
well i still have to but whatever XD

Good luck with this! I recently got back into the Pokemon anime after about 8 years or so (I had forgotten about Pokemon for a few years). I started watching from the beginning about 6 months ago and I'm finally up to Diamond and Pearl (but not all the way caught up yet, I'm at the episode "Poketch Unavailable").

All I can say is, try not to pull your hair out or gouge out your eyes haha. I watched something like 470 episodes in a couple months. I don't know how many more Team Rocket mottos, mechas or haphazard plans I'll be able to take haha (not bashing TR by the way, Jessie and James have always been two of my favorite characters!).

If you really want a good experience, try watching the episodes in Japanese with subtitles. It made it much more interesting to me.

Just wait til you get to Johto: The land of filler episodes.

First season is really quick but they progressively get longer this season is about 120 episodes then he goes to jotho for about 50 episodes then hohen is about 250 episodes including battle frontier and shinnoh is already up to 140 and ash hasent even got the 8th badge

Hey! I used to have the cards back in 99 and sort of watched the Animé. But I recently decided to watch pokémon with my younger brother and have just realised how awesome it is! I'm totally obsessed with it! I just watched Ep 78 "Fire and Ice". I'm going to watch every ep and movie till the latest ep. Oh, by the way. Does "Pokémon: The First Movie" (1999) continue straight after the first season? Because I'm going to watch that one I've finished the first season.
Sometimes I feel like Team Rocket are pointless in some episode and they put them in just because they want TR in every Ep. Some time's they are in it for like 3 or 4 minutes then that's it lol. But I do love TR and they are great in some too.

It's important in the anime, but going by the video games, it's not really an official region. It was made for the anime.
That doesn't change the fact that, technically, it is considered a region. The video games don't decide what counts, and the Orange Islands are indeed official.

haha well keep watching I've seen close to every episode of Pokemon and after not watching it for five or so years I decided to do what you did. Trust me watch every season you will not regret it.

Absolutely. Like I said in my earlier post, I'm nearly caught up and I haven't regretted watching any of the Pokemon anime. It was especially fun since I hadn't watched it in nearly 8 or so years.

The movies actually aren't canon with the anime. If you want however, I guess the best time to watch it would be between the first season (Indigo League) and the second (Orange League). Although it doesn't really matter when you watch the movies.

But if I had watched the Movie before the season, It would have spoilt what pokémon Ash has.
I just watched it by the way. Also, the beginning of the movie inter-winds with some of the episodes in Season one.
I'm now moving onto Season 2, and wondered when the 2nd Pokémon movie should be watched.

Maybe I'm just stuck on the fact that it was created only because the anime needed something to fill up the time until Gold and Silver came out. I mean, it's not completely filler because some important captures do happen and overall it had some cool and memorable moments, but something about calling it an official region doesn't seem right IMO... But that's just me. XD

After you see Ep 105 (Charizard Ep) you should in the clear.

A list of where which movie is supposed to be in the series for the series. The exception being Movie 1 since that was released at a different time for the Japanese release.

    • Movie 1: "The Pi-Kahuna" and "Make Room for Gloom".
    • Movie 2: "Charizard Chills" and "The Pokémon Water War".
    • Movie 3: "The Forest Grumps" and "The Psychic Sidekicks".
    • Movie 4: "The Kecleon Caper" and "The Joy of Water Pokémon".
    • Movie 5: "Just Add Water" and "Lapras of Luxury".
    • Movie 6: "Having a Wailord of a Time" and "Win, Lose or Drew!".
    • Movie 7: "Sky High Gym Battle" and "Light, Camerupt, Action".
    • Movie 8: "A Real Cleffa-Hanger" and "Numero Uno Articuno".
    • Movie 9: "Aipom and Circumstance" and "Strategy Tomorrow - Comedy Tonight!".
    • Movie 10: "Steamboat Willies" and "Top-Down Training".
    • Movie 11: "Arriving in Style!" and "The Psyduck Stops Here!".
