    Sam Ferris

The dark eyed girl felt a flicker of irritation as the creature dismissed her suggestion of leaving. Yes, there were probably infected Pokemon everywhere that desired to rip them limb from limb, but she was willing to bet that there were places within the city where this threat was not quite so imminent. Sam glanced towards where the pack had started to appear, and inhaled sharply, trying to keep herself calm. Freaking out now would probably ensure her demise. This creature could probably get them out of here - she had to stay focused on that possibility, as strange and as freakish as he was. As she beheld the scene nearby, a large orange dragon like creature stood out - a Charizard. At this current moment, it seemed to be the main thing that was preventing the pack from overrunning them, as they were attacking it instead of them, although to no avail. It seemed more focused on making its way to them for some reason. She would like to think it was coming to rescue them, but Sam doubted it. Either way, the Pokemon was currently an unknown, and she couldn't make a plan around it.

She turned her attention back to the creature, who also seemed slightly distracted by the Charizard, and her heart skipped a beat as it gave its name. CRV-ENO3. Sam had had a suspicion that this had indeed been the identity of this creature from the start, but it didn't hurt to have a healthy amount of doubt. Still, given exactly what this creature was, she had no desire to hang around any more - it probably wanted Cobalt. Sam glanced up in shock as an irritated roar filled the air, followed by the steady beats of wings. The Charizard let flames spill from its mouth into the air, and the wind brought the resulting embers onto the ruined building, which quickly caught alight. The small girl froze in shock, staring at the roof while the flames licked the sides of the building. She could vaguely hear Nona speaking, but was paying very little attention to exactly what was being said. Her mind knew that she had to get out of the building now, but her body just wasn't moving in response. However, she was dragged out of her shocked state by the older woman grabbing her hand and leading her out of the building.

Sam started running again, initially holding on tight to Nona's hand, but her grip slackened as her pace picked up, until she was no longer aware if the blonde woman was with her or not. She knew she had to try and get away from the fire as quickly as possible, as given the conditions, it could potentially spread fast. Her sprint this time wasn't however the mad panic of earlier - rather, it was calm and calculated. She needed to head towards an area that she knew well, in order to be able to safely navigate through this. She couldn't go anywhere too closed in, as fire would consume all of the oxgyen in small spaces quickly, yet she still had to be mindful of infected.

Sam's desire for a familiar area resulted in her finding herself standing in the street in which her hiding place could be accessed. It seemed eerily quiet now, as the pack apparently had followed her earlier movements. Luckily, they now had plenty of distractions to keep them from imminently following the small human being. However, that wasn't to say that there would be some stragglers - perhaps some slower infected had gotten left behind, or some were crafty, and hoping to lure any prey out into a false sense of security. Her eyes fell on the front yard of a building in ruins - from here she could make out a hole small enough for her to crawl through, something she knew from experience. Sam briefly considered if she had the time to duck into her hiding place and grab her backpack. As the contents within that bag could potentially be very useful, she decided it was worth the extra seconds.

"Give me a moment..." She muttered to no one in particular, before ducking into the front yard. Her eyes fell on a bloodied mess, and she quickly focused her attention elsewhere, covering her mouth and nose in an attempt to stop from gagging - the smell of blood and death hung heavy in the air. She crawled into the ruins, feeling the reasurring weight of Link on her shoulder suddenly disappear, and grabbed the tattered backpack sitting near the hole. Sam cast a longing glance at the blankets she'd accumulated, but decided that it would take too much time to try and stuff them into it. Besides, there was a thin one in there anyway. She also took the time to take her makeshift spear with her, before heading back the way she came, doing her best to ignore the corpse. Before she could make it back to the sidewalk however, Link appeared, nudging a Pokeball towards her. Sam picked it up, taking note of the teeth marks on the ball, as well as some writing in permanent marker.

"Where did this come from?" She whispered. The Furret simply nodded in the direction of the corpse, and only then did Sam take notice of the human blood on her Pokemon's fur. She took a deep breath, and mentally tried to convince herself that looting another person's corpse was okay - after all, she needed what they had more than they did, seeing as they were dead and all, plus it would be cruel to leave whatever Pokemon was held within this Pokeball to simply lay there for days on end. She slipped the ball onto her belt next to Cobalt's Great Ball, and returned to the main street, her dark eyes searching to see if Nona was still with her.

  • Whilst Sam and Nona escaped the ignited building with nary a scratch on their heads, the human-shaped monster that had been talking to them barely had time to turn to follow, when the ruined structure finally gave way, and crashed in on itself. And then the screaming started - at first, it sounded as if somebody was shrieking the word 'fire', but it progressed into a bestial howling soon enough, as the blaze grew brighter and higher.

And then, the building exploded. But not with fire - with a blast of wind, which blew the majority of the fire out, and scattered pieces of the building for a few miles around the city. And standing in the middle of it all? Lugia - or rather, something that appeared to be one. As soon as the Charizard clocked it, seeing it as the desired enemy, the orange dragon blew more flames, and charged. The 'Lugia' did likewise, and the two creatures set about brawling - scattering the assembled dogs like flies. Most of them, anyway. A few got a little too close to the fight and were summarily disembowelled by the stray blows of the combatants.

Indeed, in the end, only about four dogs - a Mightyena, an Electrike, a Herdier and a Zoroark - actually ended up following the escapees. Well, five if you count the silvery Ninetales that was also following, but the way it moved, from behind one object to another, never letting the other pokémon see it, seemed to suggest that it was not with the others. Perhaps it was following some hidden agenda of somebody's design? Or perhaps it was just out for itself? It had, after all, been out with a human a little while ago, and that person was certainly not present now.
