    "Loss of Innocence"

History: The Pokémon world has always been a world of wonder. It has come through many eras and coexisted with humanity. You were born into it like any other kid, and living the good life as a trainer. However, a recent discovery of some ancient Pokémon text revealed that the utopia that people have come to love and exist in would seize to exist.

This calendar of sorts was discovered in the Sinnoh region, in Michina town. An excavation team came upon the runes by accident. There, they translated, deciphered and verified it and were shocked at what they discovered. Deciding to reveal it to the world, they told that the world would seize to exist exactly 1.5 years, from when the announcement they were making. Thus it was determined that on March 15th 2012, the world would be destroyed. There was no reasoning given as to why or how this decision was made, but that only circumstantial evidence convinced these scientists that this was indeed going to happen. The runes also did not reveal a specific Pokémon or entity only that "the Harbinger" would be the judge. They mentioned however, that a small vestige of hope remained. This "Harbinger" would select 10 [Though it depends on the amount of SUs and such] people who trained Pokémon, those who were yet innocent and naive of the world, regardless of their background. The selected trainers would have to persuade the Harbinger, and in doing so, humanity would be saved. They would be selected on March 14th 2011 and have 1 year to complete this. The inscription was translated as follows:

Fate with death hast thou with whence thy day and night is no longer
Upon which one year from thy 150th year and 18th day of Arcis will thee encounter it so
Fear not – unto thee, six of thine people tasked for thine survival whilst go
One year unto descision's breadth hast taken over
Survive and thou art rewarded life

Plot: Six months has passed since the news was revealed. Those scientists, who first revealed it, were put in jail for what the government said was inciting a war. Despite the government's effort to suppress the people from violence and anarchy, as a result of the announcement, disorder was beginning to become rampant. Thus martial law was enacted.

Since the calamitous announcement, that you also watched on television to your dismay, you still have a relatively normal life, albeit, a lot more constrained. You still go to school, except now it is much stricter and corporal punishment had been introduced to keep the students in order. Pokemon battles still continue, but are now only allowed in supervised tournaments or gyms, not complying would mean the removal of your pokemon. Even curfews the government introduced were so harsh that police were told to shoot people on site, if they were seen past dark. All these events transpiring have probably left you in fear. Not to mention fear of losing your pokemon or your friends.

The day before this supposed day of ruin... You don't recall ever being asked to be a participant; nonetheless, you hear a voice in your head telling you what it is that had to be done. Here it is as follows:

You have been selected to represent humanity. You have one day to prepare all that you wish to bring.
For the next year, you will prove yourself... Failure to do so, will result in the extinction of the human race, and all those you love.
Be warned, this journey will not be easy ,and if you are to persevere with the challenges ahead, you will be cause to my appearance, do well and humanity survives.
I as the Harbinger, will be watching.
Be prepared at this time tomorrow...

Unbeknownst to you, 10 [or however many SUs] people in total will be selected. This persuasion, the harbinger decided, would take place in a realm you would be transported to. There you will travel for a year, training your Pokémon, and developing your relationship and completing tasks. The realm will be full of Pokémon of every kind imaginable. It is essentially a smaller version of all types of environments found on Earth. There you are also able to catch Pokémon.

In order to persuade the harbinger, you will ultimately have to defeat him in a battle, however, you must first complete a series of challenges, of which will span for the entire year (more or less). It is encouraged people meet up with each other if possible, however this is not necessary. Once all of the trainers (for the one's still alive) have completed enough challenges and have been otherwise deemed worthy to fight, the Harbinger will appear to them...

    Thus your journey begins:

A rush of sound... a flash of white light... You wake up somewhere else, somewhere you do not recognize. And among other things, you notice a device on your wrist...

    Challenges that you may/will encounter:
    • Going from point A to B (in either a set limit of time, or not)
    • Catching a specific pokemon (of which items will be given to you by the harbinger, specifically for that challenge only)
    • Defeating Pokemon in a gym styled tournament
    • Competing against a fellow human
    • Hunting a pokemon (this is where your character's morality and personality come into question)
    • Being able to teach your pokemon a specific move
    • Finding an item/egg/pokemon in a specific place
    • Care for an egg until it hatches
    • And other ideas
    • PM me for more ideas

You will be given these challenges by the Harbinger via a watch device you will find on your wrist on appearing in this new realm. This Pokegear, will only have your objective and a compass, nothing more will be on it. Sometimes the challenges will be vague, other times they will be specific. You might have a time limit, and other times you will not, of which the time limit will appear as a countdown on the watch itself. If you meet up with someone, your objectives might become the same thing. Once the task is complete, your pokegear will be updated with a 'pass' or 'fail'. Once complete you will be given time to recuperate as well as explore and catch your own pokemon on your own time, the pokegear will inform you when your next challenge is to begin. If you chose not to do a challenge given to you, you will not receive a new challenge until the next day (as a sort of penalty), then you will have the rest of the day to do what you like. There will be days where no challenge is given and you will be free to do what you like.

The number of challenges to be finished and won before gaining the right to fight the Harbinger is unknown. It will come when it comes...

If all participants successfully defeat the Harbinger in one on one combat, than humanity will be saved. If in the event that one looses to the Harbinger, this is fine, the battle can recommence once that person's pokemon has recuperated. To save humanity then, all participants need to battle the Harbinger and win. If a participant dies then that is fine as they are negated from the end. It is until the time runs out (the one year) when you'll have to beat the Harbinger. That is, if you can gain the Harbinger's attention before the last day.

    Good luck!

Summary: You have been chosen to fight for humanity's existence in a survival game set up by something called the Harbinger. You have one year to complete challenges that will enable you to fight the harbinger, and save humanity.

Setting: You will be transported to a realm that is similar to earth, but acts very differently. There, you will find varying types of terrain and vegetation (or lack thereof) existing in the same plane of existence. The following is a list of highlights of each region
    • There is the desolate area to the North West, with an acidic river (you will find mostly ground pokemon here, as well as those pokemon who can survive in the harsh river)
    • The desert south of the desolate terrain. (home to more ground pokemon, and those that can deal without as much water)
    • The lush jungles just off the northern jungle. (plenty of grass pokemon, and otherwise tropical enduring pokemon)
    • The volcanic grounds in the centre. (plenty of fire pokemon here, along with a single cave entrance)
    • The oceanic area to the North East. (Plenty of water pokemon; there is a single boat on the island).
    • The mountains of the south, with the suspicious cave entrances (a good majority of ice-like pokemon live here, as well as some flying pokemon that can deal with the colder temperatures. There are also the typical cave dwelling pokemon here)
    • The grassy fields covering most of the east. (pretty much all kinds of pokemon can be found here)
    • The abandoned mansion south of the volcanic area* (no pokemon inside the mansion, for some strange reason)
    • The abandoned hydro electric power plant (the dam) to the east of that.** (lots of steel and electric pokemon here)
    • Lakes and water sources will be dotted throughout, aside from the acidic river and the ocean, all water will be drinkable, unless otherwise stated.

      * The mansion will not only be abandoned, but also desolate, it's really only there for shelter, there isn't much else.
** The dam is also abandoned, it is not working properly, but there are a lot of Electric and steel Pokémon there. The electric turbines doesn't even work properly, though it seems pokemon have gotten it to work at times.
(See the attached picture below for a better reference. Feel free to describe the setting you are in, and the Pokemon that would be relevant to that area as well)

    Notes:
    • The numbers indicated on the map are starting locations, 1-6 (7 and 8 being optional for more RPers).
    • You will be given freedom as to some of the challenges, think of this as The Amazing Race, but without any particular destination. There will not be challenges every time, so you'd be free to rest up, interact with your Pokémon, or otherwise recover.
    • You are fighting for your own survival as well, this is like a survival game, and thus Pokémon are even prone to death.
    • Logically, Pokémon will be where their environment is most suited, you wouldn't find an ice Pokémon in the volcanic region for example.
    • While there are no pokemon centres, it is important to maintain the health of your Pokémon, you can do this with items you have brought, or simply by appropriately letting it feed and rest.
    • In the same vain, there are also no PCs, so if you have 6 pokemon, the only way to get more is if you abandon one.
    • Items in your bag will be a key thing on your trip, aside from a tent, a sleeping bag, a water bottle and perhaps some food, you are allowed to bring whichever thing you need (including pokeballs). You must be aware however that these items are LIMITED, and you will never be able to replenish them – it's back to the basics.
    • Be creative in your means of survival, what would you eat, where would you sleep? Etc. (maybe those Taurus look tasty after all)
    • Yes, the pokemon of this realm are catchable (all of them), even legendary Pokémon... but can you catch them? Regular pokemon are fine to encounter/post about on your own, however if you would like to encounter a legendary, only I can set up that incidental meeting.
    • If you plan on catching a pokemon, leave myself to decide if it is finally caught. Thus you need to write a descent battle. You may write your logical encounter up to your throwing of the ball, and it being absorbed by it.
    • This will not be like your typical game type of Pokémon 4 ever move type of thing. Your Pokémon will know all its moves as it grows. A young trainer thus with a young Pokémon, will not be able to use a high level move. So in that respect it has to be realistic. Even practice has to be made to perfect it. Think of it like the anime. A list of moves for respective Pokémon are here: http://pokemondb.net/
    • While the realm has specific regions of differences, it is not impossible to find a different type of pokemon somewhere else, just be realistic about it (like how bird pokemon can fly anywhere).
    • If you are unsure if you would encounter a certain type of pokemon in a specific area, don't hesitate to ask.
    • I'd prefer to have to have half and half of each gender, but it's not an "end-all".
    • Romantic relationships are allowed; just don't forget the task at hand.
    • Because this is akin to creating a new region, be creative in describing the area around you, I've left it open so that you can describe in full detail on how the land is. And in that way, other RP members can follow suit and use that description in the future. Create that vibrant setting. And for that reason, it might be important to read what other RPers have read, I mean if you go into a place where another RPer has just left, and describe it totally differently, it wouldn't make sense.
    • I will be giving out everyone's tasks.
    • I will judge whether or not your character passes or fails a challenge, but really, if you RP that your character was successful then it will be a win. Don't be afraid to fail though, you have a year in the RP to prove yourself. After all, I don't expect people to win all the time.
    • I will post the day at the top of my posts, feel free to type up a full day or a partial day, depending on how much time you have, thus you can always come back to it later. Once everyone has completed their day, it will be the end of the day. (Perhaps it may be best to have something like 'End of Day 1' at the bottom of your post to make it clear). Once everyone's day is complete I will post a summary of challenges won/lost or pending (pending challenges being those challenges that may take one or more days). I'll do it this way so people don't get too much ahead.
    • If in the event that someone fails to post within 7 days of a new day post, they will be KIA (that is unless if there is a valid reason they cannot post to which they will be exempt for).
    • You will be given your first task upon my first post. Of course the challenges given will be relevant to your region that you are currently in (unless stated otherwise).
    • Some challenges might be against your own morals, you can chose to fail them purposely or not.
    • It takes about 6 days to walk from one end of the map to the other (in a straight line) non-stop (meaning the length is about 720km and that is if they were to walk non stop). Thus with the many impediments in the way, it will take longer.
    • The Harbinger is otherwise emotionless and indifferent to you, he is at this point more of a watcher (so you won't need to interact with him, that will be up to me).
    • Once the RP is underway, you cannot change your bag of supplies.
    • Items may or may not be given as a prize on the completion of challenges, though you may receive some items specifically for a challenge.
    • You don't need to complete a challenge in a day if you don't have a time limit, you can simply be in mid challenge and chose to end your day (to which the 'pending' would be used).

    Appearance: (2 paragraphs minimum)

History: (2 paragraphs minimum) Be sure to mention your character's level of experience or lack thereof, so as to legitimize their prowess as a pokemon trainer.

Pokemon: (up to 6 of course, additional info on your pokemon is optional)

    Preferred starting location number: 1-10

Bag: Everyone should have a sleeping bag, tent, a knife a stove and pot, a flashlight/torch and essential toiletries (you won't need to include these in your bag list as they will be there anyway). In interest of fairness there will be 30 open slots for pokemon related supplies and 10 slots for your own bare essentials, like food or other survival related gear. I realize people won't need to RP their character having to use/bring toilet paper, but you just have to remember that you're bringing a finite amount of resources. Make sure to include things that will ensure your survival, if not then those consequences you may encounter when RPing - just think of what "Lord of the Flies" did to the boys).

RP sample: (Just write something that concerns the day before being transported to the realm, essentially it is your day of preparing for the transport; your character will believe the telepathic message to be true. You won't need to copy and paste a previous RP. It doesn't have to be that long, just something I can idea for how you write).

    RP rules:

    - No God-modding or bunnying, you will all have set tasks, you don't want to waste time ;)
    - Be respectiful of other members
    - Quality is a bonus
    - Try to stay as active as possible (the good thing about this kind of RP is that you don't have to be around other RPers all the time too, leaving you to do what you would like).

    DAY 1

For everyone: With a flash of bright light, you are brought into "The Realm". As the light subsides you notice a figure off in the distance, also shrouded in light, you are unsure if it is a human or pokemon, but it appears to have some sort of white armour, shining in the bright light. The brightness causes you to avert your eyes, but you swear you catch a smile as the figure disappears. Now that you're slightly oriented, you notice that all your belongings have been transported with you. It is a clear sunny day all over the realm.

In addition, you notice that you now have a watch attached to your wrist. It has 5 buttons, one button to accept a challenge, a second to decline a challenge, a third to switch back and forth from the compass to objective screen and the two last, to scroll up or down to read the challenge screen. As you look at the watch, you notice you have a new objective already.

((Everyone now has their own specific objective/spoiler box. If you were unsure what the starting locations meant, the attached picture on the main post (at the bottom) clarifies this))

    Baseballa34657 – Location 4

    Spoiler:

    Nakuzumi – Location 7

    Pokemongarnet – Location 3

    Spoiler:

    deathtolight - Location 8
    Spoiler:

((Creativity is key :) I've given a brief description of the area, but it's up to you to elaborate if you'd like. Also as for the pokemon that you might have to face in your challenge, I won't give its level, unless necessary, thus you can assume its level and all the moves it knows up to it. Plus it would be wise at least to make the level of the pokemon realistic to your own unless otherwise noted. It is also imperative to read everyone's post too. That is to say if you were to travel to a spot a previous trainer was in, it wouldn't make sense to describe it much differently, it wouldn't make sense. Also, on the first day, no one will meet up with the other. But anywho, good luck and have fun and don't hesitate to ask questions in the OOC thread. If you want to meet up with someone, be sure to tell me, so I can make challenges come closer, making the chances of meeting very high. Once you are done your day make sure to have "End of day x" at the bottom, you don't have to have everything in one post, but it would be best if your character's day will be posted by the end of Tuesday-ish.))

((For those who have yet to finish their SU or would still like to join, should do so ASAP, as you must have your first post up (once I've given you your challenge) by next Tuesday, this may change however).))

((Last but not least, unless if otherwise noted - you can decide to decline a challenge, which forfeits the day's challenge. This means you can spend the rest of the day what you want your character to do. Plus I also might make some free or bonus days as well. Also don't be afraid to have your character lose a challenge, though for the first challenge, I don't mind if everyone wins :P))

((And I'll also write a sort of review of everyone's post, I'll judge them on: creativity, continuity, content, and coherence (all C's!). This is to help you not only in writing in general, but also just to have a smoother RP in general. So don't take it as offense if I have to point out something to one of you.))

    Day 1
    The Poochyena Pack...

    -----

I had been laying down, curled up next to Cinder when there was a sudden flash of light. I covered my eyes until the light faded. When I looked around, Cinder was standing next to me and all of my stuff was also right next to me. I also noticed a figure that was clad in white armor, but I could not look for more than a second as the armor was gleaming extremely brightly. 'That must be the one that brought me here...the Harbinger.' I thought. The figure disappeared and I could have sworn I saw it smile, which was likely if it was who I thought it was. I walked over to my backpack and swung it over my shoulder, noticing something on my wrist.

    It was some sort of watch. It had a small screen and five buttons, on the screen was some text. I began to read;

Challenge 1: Make your way towards the volcano, there you will encounter a Vulpix being pursued by a number of Poochyena. Save the Vulpix by any means necessary. The challenge will end once the Vulpix either perishes or is saved.

As I finished reading, I pressed the green button that meant 'accept'. I would have rather not gone to the volcano, as it wasn't a very good survival strategy, but I had to. I made sure I had all of my things and Cinder and I headed towards the volcano.

    *****

As we neared the volcano, I could hear the cries of some pokemon. It sounded like a large group of Poochyena, but I could not hear a Vulpix. The Vulpix was probably being drowned out by the Poochyena's cries, so I started to run in that direction. In less than a minute I saw the Poochyena - there were fifteen and they were pursuing the Vulpix described in the challenge. "Cinder, Flamethrower." Cinder leaped in front of me, and then in between the Poochyena and Vulpix. He roared and then released a long stream of blue flames. This caused whatever Poochyena that were still up to scatter in all directions.

I looked at all of the unconscious Poochyena; five had gone down from Flamethrower. I pulled two more pokeballs off my belt and let out Valiant and Yorkie. "Cinder, go after the four headed north. Valiant, the three heading west, Yorkie, east." I watched as the three pokemon ran off after their assigned targets. I took a moment to absorb my surroundings. I had just come from an area with a large, lush forest that broke off into a meadow of flowers, which then died off and lead here. In front of me was a dim sky and a large volcano. It seemed inactive for now, but not dormant.

"Cinder, Blast Burn. Valiant, Gust. Yorkie, Fire Fang." I commanded my pokemon as my attention returned to them. Cinder let loose a massive blue and white fireball that exploded and launched all of the Poochyena through the air; they were all unconscious before they even took off. Valiant whipped up a large, swirling wind that made the three Poochyena begin to float, before violently swilring, crashing and falling. Yorkie's fangs had caught fire and he bit all three of his marks. In less than a minute the entire pack of Poochyena was down, and the Vulpix was left there; trembling slightly.

I walked over to the Vulpix and picked her up. I pet her for a few moments before she calmed down. When she had calmed down completely, I set her on the ground and said, "Go on, you're fine now." She ran off towards the volcano and I headed back to where I had come from.

    *****

When we had arrived at the forest I was at earlier I set down my bag and let out Dream, Hood and Rex. Cinder layed down at the trunk of a tree and I rested my head on his stomache. Dream layed down a few feet away and Valiant landed in the tree above us. Yorkie jumped in my arms and both Hood and Rex layed on either side of me...

    End of Day 1...

    Day 1

Jean stumbled immediately. He had been supported by his grandfather seconds before. He caught himself just as he approached the ledge of a large pool of lava. "AHHMAHGAH!" he exclaimed those nonsense words realizing his location. "This must be it then… the other realm. It sure is hot." He took of his outer layer of clothing on his torso, being his hoody, and went to put it in his bag. "What?" he said to himself. He had just noticed a pokeball resting on top of his stuff. He took it out of the bag and clicked the button in the middle. A beam of light shot from it and formed the shape of—
"Kramer?" Jean asked the Houndoom puzzled. The Houndoom barked a confirmation. "Grandpa must've packed you along with my stuff." Jean was about to click the button on the ball to put Kramer back inside, when Kramer growled. It was apparent that it didn't want to go back.
    Beep!
"What's this Jean took sudden notice of a watch on his wrist. It prompted him to do something. He clicked a button that accepted the challenge. "Well Kramer, it looks like you're already coming in handy." Jean debriefed Kramer on what they were to do. The second he was done, Kramer put his nose in the air. He was sniffing for a Houndoor. He darted off up the volcano, and Jean had to quickly pack his bag to catch-up.
Minutes of running later they arrived at the place. A female Houndoom lie dead, with a tearing young Houndoor nestled in its side. It was howling in despair. Jean approached the Houndoor to comfort it. RAAARGH!!! The houndoor had attacked, and it bit into
Jean pulled his now wounded hand away. "OWW!" Jean yelled at the now growling and clearly apprehensive houndoor.
Grrrrrr. Kramer made an attempt to calm down the houndoor. The two exchanged growls in their language. The houndoor finally calmed down after some coaxing, but was still weary of the strangers.
"Kramer, we still need to get him to a pack." The Houndoom nodded.
Aaaaaoooooooo!!!!!!!! Aaaaaaaaaoooooooo!!! Kramer howled, in attempts to assemble a pack to them.
"You're really taking the reigns on this one aren't you?" Kramer sternly nodded and released another set of roars.
Minutes of waiting followed until Kramer swiftly perked up. This caught Jean's attention who was recently addressing his wound with a piece of gauze from his first-aid kit. Kramer started growling in Jean's direction. Jean swiveled his head behind him to examine the problem. "Holy crap!!" A pack of houndooms and houndoors, a hundred of each of them at least. Jean was so startled and frightened that he near fell over. Kramer and what was clearly the leader of his pack, likely due to his massive size, began conversing with the occasional interruption from the weeping houndoor. All the while Jean thought that the houndoor were going to eat him, though he maintained a calm appearance.
The issue finally seemed settled as the leader signaled with his paw for the houndoor to follow. But the houndoor was reluctant.
"What! Now that they know there's no reason to be here they're going to attack us!" as Jean finished, a Houndoom lept at him. Jean turned to it, grabbed the top of its snout and brought his knee to its jaw. The Houndoom whimpered and fell too the ground like a ragdoll. "Ah!! I didn't mean to!! It was impulse!!" The rest of the pack was poised to strike. But the leader called them off, much to Jean's relief. He was now addressing the houndoom's injury, while Kramer took initiatiative and shouldered the dead Houndoom. To which the houndoor had no objections. Kramer walked off with the pack and the houndoor.
"Hey! When you're done try to find me!" Kramer nodded approval.
Jean set off to tending his wound. And he saw a small orange glow go off in the woods as the sun began to set, the cremation gor the dead Houndoom.
    Beep! "Challenge complete."

The first of many rough days.

    Day 1

The bright light faded as quickly as it came but this time Garth wasn't surrounded by unconscious teens but by towering trees of many species that shaded everything he could see. The PGS in his hands dropped to the dirt and grass as the trees seemed to age, change species, and even move around while this happens even the incandescent chatter of pokemon stops and returns with the constantly changing jungle. Garth picks up his PGS to, finally, notice the watch on his left wrist.

He quickly reads the message and wipes off the dirt on the back of his PGS with his sleeve. He gentle pushes his PGs into his right pocket and took out his earplugs from his left pocket again to end the disappearing and returning sounds of the jungle pokemon. Garth then hit the accept button on his watch and quickly felt the urge to vomit as the large oak in front of him twisted into a bow-tie shape and quickly rotted away into a decomposing Ursaring corpse. Garth ran the opposite direction of the corpse as it disgusted him greatly.

Garth stopped after a couple of minutes and leaned against a gargantuan red wood tree to rest. He wasn't able to get a lot of rest as a Celebi came charging at him. Garth jumped out of the way of the charge and the Celebi made a u-turn around the red wood tree this gave Garth enough time to randomly send out one of his pokemon. Ultra jumped out of the pokeball just in time to make the Celebi swerve away from Garth again as Ultra stood in its path.

"Ultra use Bug Buzz!" yelled Garth because his ear plugs were still in. The Celebi retaliated with an Ancient Power as Bug Buzz hit it. The super-effective Ancient Power hit Ultra sending him flying backwards before regaining its bearings. Celebi glowed purple as Ancient Power took effect but so did Ultra's ability; he began to flap his wings faster and faster.
"Ultra use Air Slash," ordered Garth quietly this time as he took out his earplugs. The attack hit the Celebi before it got a chance to attack back the Celebi was sent flying backward into the red wood tree. The glowing aura around Celebi brightened and grew and then seemed to disappear into the air. The Celebi seemed to start panting and slow down a little and started to open a portal through time to recuperate.
"Ultra use Pursuit." Calmly spoke Garth as a small smile grew across his face. The attack hit Celebi and it fell to the ground KOed. Garth was proud of himself and started to walk away from the Celebi as he was hit by a future sight in the back and sent flying through the jungle somehow without hitting any braches. Ultra quickly chased after Garth and caught up with him when they were outside the jungle. Ultra caught him and gently dropped him on the ground.
"Thank you Ultra, return." Spoke Garth returning Ultra to his pokeball.

Garth set up his tent at the edge of the Jungle and played his PGS for a couple of hours until his stomach growled. He then placed the Pokedoll in front of a small bush in the jungle and had Primrose use Sweetscent. Soon a Stantler came to the Pokedoll and Garth made Chant use Perish Song on it and then switched to King to stall the Stantler out. Garth returned all of his pokemon and pulled out his crossbow loaded it and shot the Stantler in the head.

Later that night Garth and his pokemon enjoyed stew with Stantler meat, berries and mushrooms. They then went to sleep.

    End of day 1.

  • ooc: I played around a little with "worst enemy". It's more like ... "most memorable opponent". I would be very worried if he had a worst enemy at his age...

    ---

Delphinus inhaled sharply, considering the landscape. The new world that he had appeared in ... was rather barren for the most part. The terrain could be identified as mostly wasteland, and he saw a dearth of plant life. The ground was fairly flat, without too many depressions or elevations, and so he could see into the distance moderately well.

He felt... disoriented, a little. It was not a good thing to feel. He shook his head to clear it, achieving some minor success.

A device on his wrist emitted a beeping sound, strangely harsh to his ears. He blinked, and glanced down; what greeted him was something that vaguely resembled a watch. How exactly did that get there? He wondered, a little bemused. There was a message displayed on its surface.

"A river... nearby." He blinked again, taking this new information in. "Hrm..." His best course of action was likely to follow the instructions on the watch; after all, it had no discernible origin and the Harbinger was likely its source. That figure of light earlier... He surveyed the watch again, and noted its functional buttons, pressing on the button that signified his acceptance of the terms presented by the device.

"We will see how difficult this trainer is." With a brief smile (out of satisfaction, not out of true pleasure) and a quick flourish of his right hand to allow it to rest on the hilt of his sword, he set off towards the south ... towards the river. It felt right to have his hand on a weapon; somehow, this world made him feel a little uncomfortable. His bag hung heavily at his side, its weight a constant reminder of the absolute mandate of survival that he had to follow. It would likely slow his movement down, but it was necessary for him to carry it.

Within some unmeasured amount of time - though, honestly, he did not feel that it was very long at all - he was able to reach the riverbank. The first thing he noted upon arrival was that the river seemed somehow polluted; its water was rather murky, and hints of brownish-violet seemed to reside in the depths of the river. The second thing he observed was... his opponent. A seemingly entirely crystalline simulacrum, the figure was an almost exact likeness of ...

He drew in a careful, measured breath.

    What. ... What.

"Tch." He snapped his fingers in the air out of annoyance, impulsively doing so.

How?! Why does the Harbinger even ...

He ... couldn't believe it. He didn't want to believe it.

    ...

He drew his sword to steady himself. The steel blade slid from its maplewood sheath with a sibilant 'shiiiiing', glinting in the daylight. He held the weapon in front of him with his right hand and entered a defensive stance, left hand reaching for a Pokeball at his belt.

The figure in front of him was one of his ... former, rather ...

"Bah!" He retorted disgustedly to himself, not noticing that he had vocalized his complaint. He shifted his gaze away from the crystal form tentatively, not wanting to keep his eyes on it for any extended length of time, muttering to himself discontentedly.

    "The... Har... er... psychic... tricks."

    ...

A girl with a Monozu and an Aaken, talking excitedly and cheerfully to him.

    ...

That same person with a Yuniran, gesturing happily at the small green ball and petting it every other moment.

    ...

He remembered him introducing Gible to that person, his voice rising excitedly, his visage all foolish smiles and casual movements.

    ...

He remembered challenging that person at the conclusion of the Victory Road, only to have his hopes, his dreams ... dashed to pieces.

    ...

He remembered announcing his acceptance letter into the Suzuran Conference to that person, animatedly; she smiled softly in response and showed him an identical letter, hugging him briefly. He had been briefly surprised, and when she asked him if it was alright he replied with a hurried "yes"; but what he actually meant was
    I don't know?

    ...

So many meetings, both good and bad ones. Sorrowful and joyful. Exhilarating and ...

    ...

Half a year ago at the Suzuran Conference. A Sazandora roaring in victory over Shandera; Garchomp defeated by Doredia. His vulnerable, wretched self. Her gaze was filled not with impression (even admiration, or so he had hoped), but something else... He had flinched at the gaze, and wished he hadn't done so immediately afterward.

    ...

He had truly come a long way since then, and trained himself to a great degree. But no one else's opinion truly mattered so much.

He winced, sighing in annoyance at those memories of the past that he was forced to recall. They were not entirely pleasant; bittersweet was a much more suitable term for it. Hmm. He doubted his weapon would be able to cut through the crystal replica; he had to defeat it in a Pokemon battle.

"Alright; fine. Let's go, everyone." Reaching down with his fingers to touch the cool surface of Shandera's Pokeball, he nodded with certainty and with a fluid motion, snapped the Dusk Ball into the air in front of him, releasing the violet chandelier Pokemon contained within the capsule, all this time while glaring at the crystalline figure with barely-concealed contempt.

    "Shaaaaaandera!"

In response to this, the crystalline silhouette released a Graveler from a Pokeball, allowing the rocky boulder-like Pokemon to come to a rest opposite of Shandera on the battlefield. Delphinus smirked at the choice of Pokemon that his opponent decided on; granted, it was a "good" choice, as both Ground and Rock were super effective against Fire, and Rock resisted Fire as well, but that meant nothing to his Pokemon, who had widely varied movesets designed to counter their... well, counters.

"Swiftly now, Shandera. Energy Ball, before they have a chance to move!"

Accordingly, a green sphere of energy began to coalesce at the chandelier Pokemon's mouth-slit, and a few seconds later, just as Graveler began to execute the command "Earthquake." that was given by its trainer, the blast embedded itself into the rough skin of its adversary, which immediately slumped to the ground, the doubly super effective attack having decimated its Special Defense and reduced its health to zero. Wordlessly, the crystalline figure recalled the Pokemon, and Delphinus did a mental fist pump.

"...Murando." A rugged, white-and-brown canine appeared in Graveler's place.

Delphinus pondered the new challenger for a few seconds, taking in its possible offensive moves against Shandera. Most likely, it was going to use Payback, which would be quite effective against the chandelier; there is, however, such a thing known as switching, and so he waited for his opponent to make a move first.

"...Payback." The canine rushed forward, a wave of dark energy surrounding it.

"Return, Shandera. Forward, Scizor!" With a rapid flicking and switching motion, Delphinus retrieved Scizor's Pokeball from his belt and slipped Shandera's back into it. A beam of red energy absorbed Shandera back into the Pokeball, while an insectile Pokemon encased in steel armor appeared directly in front of the energy wave. The attack rebounded a little off its metallic shell, and did not seem to deal very much damage at all. If one looked carefully, one would be able to see a blue scarf wrapped around the Scizor's neck, in stark contrast to the red of its body. Thus, the following events should have come as no surprise.

    "Scizor, lock into Superpower!"

Heeding its trainer's command, the crimson-armored insect Pokemon glided forward with an unnatural swiftness, its body glowing with a blue aura. A few seconds later, it slammed into its enemy, sending the Murando flying into the air. The Scizor seemed weakened by the attack a little as well, and Delphinus pondered it for a second. Well, that is the effect of Superpower, after all. After Murando came to land on the ground again, however, it was revealed to be unconscious, and Delphinus let out a breath of relief.

"...Bagon." A blue dragon materialized, the third opponent of the battle. Delphinus raised his eyebrows a little; the Bagon seemed extremely weak. But then, his opponent's team was rather subpar in the first place... He decided to not take too much note of it.

"...Fire Blast." A five-pointed kanji character erupted from the Bagon's maw, growing in size until its height resembled twice that of its adversary. Delphinus smiled condescendingly; if the Pokemon that his opponent was sending were all this predictable, victory would be quick indeed.

"Return, Scizor. Garchomp, advance!" With the same fluid motion that had switched out Shandera and switched in Scizor a few moments before, Delphinus now returned Scizor and sent out a multicolored land shark; the fire scorched it slightly, but it was largely unaffected. Dragon resists Fire; of course it would be ineffective. Delphinus snapped his fingers in a satisfied manner, almost tauntingly, at the crystalline form. He had regained his arrogant demeanor a short while ago, and was feeling fully confident now.

How dare it... imitate ... her appearance. It has no right to do so; I shall annihilate it promptly and without delay.

    "Outrage."

One word from Delphinus was enough to propel Garchomp into an implacable rage, blue flames erupting from its maw constantly. These flames were not some cheap Fire-type imitation, but true flames of a Dragon-type Pokemon, and Dragons had their way of defeating fellow Dragon-types. The attack seared Bagon's front to a crisp, and it was knocked unconscious by the brunt of the attack.

As the Bagon fainted, the crystalline figure began to dissipate as well in front of Delphinus's eyes. He blinked, to ascertain if that really was happening, but when he looked a second time, the crystalline figure had already crumbled to a pile of glittering, diamond-like dust.

Delphinus let out another sigh, both wistful and relieved at the same time.

Was that really... everything? Why was I so unsettled by that occurrence? Even when I could plainly see that it wasn't her.

He stood in that place for a while, quietly contemplating the question he asked himself. His composure was... violently disrupted, somehow.

He was... growing complacent with his self-discipline, among other things.

He sheathed his sword, and began to walk.

  • Kiana Silver
    Day 1
Kiana's eyes opened slowly, she was still half asleep and had not yet noticed that she couldn't see anything around her. What was with that strange light she thought sleepily remembering the weird flash of light she had seen right before she went to sleep. After a couple minutes she realized she was no longer in her bed at home. Instead she was laying on hard, damp ground. What the H***! Where am I she thought frantically looking around trying to see something, see anything. Nothing it was all pitch black. Kiana jumped hearing the screech of what sounded like a Zubat. Reaching around on the floor she let out a smile when she found her bag and stood up putting a hand on her belt she let out a sigh of relief when she felt all six of her Pokeballs. "Alright I have my bag and Pokemon...but where am I. And what was that figure that smiled at me" she whispered to herself her eyes starting to adjust to the darkness and out of the corner of them she spotted a light and made her way over to it. Yes a torch she thought happily reading the inscription on the torch the Harbinger Torch, it only burns when it is within this cave, and it disappears if it is brought outside it. After reading the inscription she saw a watch on her wrist and looked at it curiously. You must find your way out of the cave, fighting pokemon if they happen to encounter you (as they won't like the light), upon your exit, you will face Regirock, if you are unable to defeat it, you will be teleported back to your beginning position. You will not be able to capture it whatsoever.. "So I have a challenge. Alright this shouldn't be hard." Kiana said to herself picking up the torch and starting through the cave.

"Zu..Zubat!" a Pokemon called out flying in her path.

"Emboar go!" Kiana said tossing out a Pokeball, and in a flash of red light her Emboar materialized. "Emboar use Flame Charge on the wild Zubat" Kiana ordered.

"Emmmmbbboar!" Emboar yelled charging forward and slamming into the Zubat surrounded by flames knocking it out in one hit.

"Good Job Emboar return" Kiana said calling him back into his Pokeball and running down one path through the cave.

How long as it been Kiana thought as she leaned against one of the cave. She had been looking through the cave for a way out for several hours running into a few more Zubats managing to take them down but Emboar had fainted. "Lets keep going" she muttered to herself running down the path she was on in the cave. Yes Light she thought running towards the small light she saw at the end of the path. Once she got outside she stopped. The torch disappeared and she realized she still had to face Regirock.

"Regi! Rock!" a Pokemon yelled jumping in her path.

"Ah!" Kiana yelled jumping startled when the Pokemon jumped in front of her. She grabbed a Pokeball off her belt and tossed it into the air. "Machop go!" and in a flash the Pokemon materialized in front of her. "Alright Machop use cross chop!"

"Machop, Machop!" Machop said crossing it's arms in front of him as Regirock charged up Hyper Beam. Machop ran foward landing the move on Regirock just as Hyper Beam was released.

"Machop!" Kiana yelled shielding her eyes from the light.

"Regirock" Regirock yelled out in pain and when the light faded Kiana saw both Machop and Regirock struggling to stand.

"Machop quick use Seismic Toss!" Machop ran forward when he heard his trainer say that. Not caring about the pain he grabbed Regirock swinging him around in a circle before letting him go and tossing the legendary into the air.

"Regi!" Regirock yelled before slamming into the ground fainting just as Machop did.

"Good job Machop return" Kiana said calling her Pokemon back and running off she had completed her first challenge. I know the challenges will get harder so i should rest up she thought using two of her max revives on Emboar and Machop. "Time for some sleep" she said getting her tent from her bag and setting it up under a tree. After eating she crawled into it falling asleep quickly.

    Day 1

I gave a slight smirk as the words on my watch flashed by, how fortunate to heal a Trapinch, the pokémon I had worked with since I was little. I scanned the area, finding only a few sources of water miles from me. Looking from my new technology, I looked at the landscape, though the sand concealed most of the horizon, I could see some mountains almost directly east of me. The sun beat on my face with an unrelenting heat, it was already getting to me, and the wind lashed around me, blowing sand into my face and getting into my eyes. I dropped to my knees and turned from the squall, opening my bag to find the goggles I had brought. I also reached for my first aid kit, to find scissors and cloth that could be used to wrap around my face. I attempted to moisturize my lips, but as soon as I opened my mouth, sand filled it, only drying it more. Tightening the cloth around my mouth, I noticed my watch beep at me. "Will you accept this challenge?" was the simple question that stood me at a crossroads.

The sand whipped around me, with each lash I yelped in pain and my confidence lowered. Under these conditions, there was almost no way I would be able to find some unknown herb and the correct Trapinch. I sighed, and winced as I pushed the "decline" button on the watch. No light engulfed me. Nothing crushed me, and even though there was no immediate punishment for declining the challenge, I knew humanity might have to pay the price for my poor endurance. I still picked up the Pestle and Mortar the Harbringer had left for me and then summoned Lance after finally applying my makeshift bandana. The Flygon stared at me and saw a small glint of competition in my eyes, this wasn't a game or a journey with a city every route, this was survival, and Lance was as fired up as I was. He shrieked with joy, seeing me return to my normal self, as I strapped the saddle from my backpack to him. Lance's eagerness made the saddle difficult to connect to him, but he was just as ready as I was to endure this journey.

We flew low in the sandstorm to cover more ground. Each beat of his wings propelled us closer to water, at which point I would be able to summon Aqual, my Lapras, to quench the worst drought my body had ever been through. I was already sweating at an unbelievable rate about an hour into our flight and, to make matters worse, we weren't exactly near the closest body of water. I panted worse than a Snubbull that had been left in a car, each breath only took in more debris from the air. My makeshift bandana filtered some, but I could taste the saltiness begin to take its toll on my throat. A forest fire had been lit in my throat and was not anywhere near containment. We took short breaks every half hour. A time for Lance to rest his wings and for myself to drop to the ground, clenching my throat in agonizing torment. Thirty minutes flights turned to twenty, and when breaks began creeping up at approximately one every ten minutes, began hallucinating. An oasis covered every mile, but my sand-filled boots told me otherwise. Too much sand had entered my esophagus and lungs, causing me to regurgitate what little fluids I had in order to extract the sand from my throat. My vision dimmed and my pain had crossed my usual tolerance by over a mile. Lance winced every time I puked, which turned to blood. I tried to keep his morale up, but with at least fifty more miles, I was certainly going to be done in by the Harbringer. At one particular stop, a miracle occurred. I never thought they could occur in the form of an aggressive Steelix, though.

The pokémon shot from the ground out of nowhere, forcing Lance and I backwards. I saw Lance recover in the air, but my rag doll body didn't even have the ability to attempt to break my fall. As I thought I'd hit the water of an oasis, sand broke out from underneath me, revealing a pitfall trap. A hole large enough for a human to fit through was near the center. This was one of the traps a Trapinch would form to feed, but the one that would usually occupy this specific trap had already left. My body fell through the hole headfirst, accepting its demise. Just as my head would hit the underground, I heard a splash. More hallucinations… Why can't the Harbringer just kill me now? My thoughts were interrupted by my lack of air; I flailed my arms and pushed myself to the surface of the water, coughing, for the first time in what seemed like ages, water. An underground spring surrounded me and I was able to finally summon the pokémon I had waited countless stops to here its name.

"Lappprraaaassss!" It seemed to yawn as if it had been awoken, but it saw how dirty and bloody I had become. I attempted to say "water gun" but my slurred words were impossible to make out. Aqual quickly realized my needs and shot me with a refreshing burst of cool water, which I forced myself to breathe in. As the water rushed into my lungs, I immediately coughed, extracting mostly mud. My newly moisturized lips provided me with the ability to rapid-fire new commands quickly to continue life. I closed my eyes in refreshment, giving into the grip of death. I was able to die happily moisturized.

    ***

I awoke to my best friend standing above me, crying as he tried to force everything from my lungs. I coughed as a habitual splash from Aqual every few seconds kept me in a conscious state. I smiled weakly and Lance cried out in happiness. He was bleeding from his brawl with the Steelix, but the Flygon seemed to only care about me. I was able to reach for a Full Restore and heal Lance, but he protested my movement every time he was sprayed. We spent the night there; my heat stroke was subdued and contained. The next morning, I was able to awake during sunrise. No wind blew above our heads, making it safe to travel again. I looked around the tunnels, succumbing to my curiosity. I found an injured Trapinch, which was badly poisoned and needed help terribly. Thinking for sure a Full Restore would cure it; I sprayed it on the poor thing. Nothing. Flustered, I searched my bag more frantically for something, but that was about all I had in pokémon care. My hand found itself grabbing the Harbringer Pestle and I knew immediately what was wrong with the animal. A "divine" sickness had befallen this pokémon. I was left with an option to attempt to find an herb or allow death to grip it as it almost gripped me. Normally I would turn my back, but I knew what this Trapinch felt, and how endless its struggle would be without someone to help it. Almost on queue, I heard the same voice I heard from the dream I had that fateful night. "For the next year, you will prove yourself... Failure to do so, will result in the extinction of the human race, and all those you love." "I as the Harbinger, will be watching." I shivered, not being able to shake the tons of weight I was carrying.

    End of Day 1

I spent the next morning looking for the herb, which was I found surprisingly quick. The Trapinch was healed before my Lance or Aqual had awoken. Not soon after I sat down and began to rest my eyes would my watch ring....

  • DAY ONE
    Mason Darend

A flash of light and Mason found himself on top of a mountain. Cold bit away at his limbs and face as he struggled to open his rucksack. He donned his jacket and hat, still feeling the brutal wind but he was considerably warmer. His thoughts wandered back to the shining figure, but a gust of wind brought him back to reality. Glancing down at his new watch he saw a message across the screen:

On the mountain, you will find a group of Cubchoo and Beartics. You must fight the alpha male Beartic, once you have won, you must then compete against it in a race, the first one to make it to the base of the mountain. For this race, a Harbinger sled will appear once the race is about to commence. If you do not win the race, the challenge is lost, even if the fight was won.

Mason nodded and pressed the green button, accepting the challenge. He looked around the summit, seeing a spectacular view around him. Although he was above the clouds, he could make out a large body of water to the north and what looked like a powerplant sitting in front of a giant mountain slightly northwest to his position. He spun around to find a grassland dotted with lakes. It was truly a view that Mason could get used to seeing, except for the cold part. He grabbed a Pokeball from his belt, "Come on out Ignus" A flash of bluish light and Mason's Magmar appeared in front of him. The air grew rapidly warmer.

"Mag-Mar" Ignus shivered, the flames on his body lowering slightly.

"You gonna be okay buddy?" Mason looked concerned.

"Magmar!" Ignus nodded, the flames growing back to normal size.

"Okay, we gotta find this group of Beartics and defeat their leader" Mason looked down at the snow and saw massive footprints leading down a pathway. The two followed them until they came upon a large cave. He took a deep breath and stepped inside.

He couldn't see anything after a few feet, but could hear threatening growls coming from deeper inside the cave. "Ignus, get a bit brighter" The cave lit up considerably revealing a combination of Beartics and Cubchoos numbering around thirty. They certainly didn't look happy to see Mason and Ignus, but they stayed in their position, as if something was keeping them back. Mason kept walking forward and came upon the pack leader. He was bigger than the other Beartics, around ten feet tall, his paws purple, a different color than the rest of them. This was a shiny, powerful Beartic. It looked down at Mason and Ignus, nodding and motioning them to follow. They were led back to the summit, where the other Beartics and Cubchoos had formed a circle. The three had taken their positions. The Beartic held up one claw, which to Mason meant he could use only one Pokemon. "Okay Ignus, you're up"

"Magmar!" Ignus stepped forward. The Beartic started charging forward, not wasting any time.

"Ignus, Use Confuse Ray!" A beam radiated out of its hands and hit Beartic in the face. It started to charge around the ring.

"Alright now use smokescreen!" This tactic had always worked for Mason and Ignus, it prevented him from receiving any damage. Plumes of smoke came out of Ignus' mouth, leaving a shroud across the "arena". Cries rang out on the summit. Mason's stomach churned when he realized the confused Beartic was trampling it's kin. He put that out of his mind, if he lost this challenge he could die and let down all his family and friends.

"Alright Ignus, let's finish this fight, use Flamethrower!"

"Mag- Marrr" Flames erupted from Ignus' mouth and hands, striking Beartic. The flames were moving so fast that the smokescreen cleared almost instantly.

The scene revealed several Cubchoos flattened on the mountaintop, scarlet blood and gore staining the snow around them. Beartic, weakened greatly stood up and made a gesture of forfeit. It looked around and made a painful, mourning cry. A sled that could fit maybe three appeared ten feet from them. Mason walked over to the sled, "How many Pokemon may I use for this challenge?"

Beartic held up two claws and walked over to the Northwest edge of the cliff. Mason returned Ignus and joined Beartic. He looked down to a straight run down the mountain, there were trees a couple hundred feet down. He decided that he would use Barb for now and see what happens as he goes down. A flash of blue and a shiny Galvantula crawled over to the sled and perched itself on the front of it. "Hey Barb, get ready to go fast!" Barb clicked its pincers together in excitement.

"I'm ready Beartic" Mason readied himself beside the sled to push it.

Beartic nodded and jumped off the mountain, landing 100 meters down at a full sprint. Mason was in such shock he almost forgot to start pushing. He jumped into the sled as it fell off the cliff. They sped down the mountain at a rapid pace with Beartic far ahead. "Go Shellshock! Use Hydro Pump to propel us down to the bottom!" A flash of blinding blue light and a Blastoise was sitting on the back of the sled. His two cannons opened up and shot water up the incline, propelling them even faster. They caught up to Beartic just before the treeline was reached.

"Shellshock, push harder! Barb, use Cut on any tree in our way!"

They accelerated much faster as trees exploded in front of them. They passed Beartic for a short time, but the ground had started to shake. Mason looked up to see Beartic riding down on an Avalanche. Mason looked down to see they were almost at the finish line. There was no way to stop the mass of snow heading towards them, they needed to speed up, or knock Beartic down to win. An idea came to him.

"Shellshock, use hydro cannon at the base of Beartic! Barb get to the back of the sled and use Signal Beam!"

Success! Beartic jumped when the jet of water shot at it. As it reached the height of the jump, Barb's Signal Beam hit it square in the chest. It fell back into the snow as the Avalanche slowed to a crawl. Mason looked down the slope to see himself leveling out at the base of the mountain, passing the finish line. "Great job guys!" He hugged Shellshock and Barb. He looked up the mountain and muttered to himself "Challenge Complete". He tended to Ignus, Shellshock, and Barb, making sure they were okay before setting up his tent. He crawled into his sleeping bag and fell asleep almost immediately.

  • For (my own) handy reference, the challenge is in spoilers below.

    Spoiler:

Dulce et decorum est pro patria mori.
    -Horace
Amelia awoke to a world of lush greenery. The grass glowed a healthy shade of emerald everywhere she looked, and the nearby lakes sparkled with a shining, pure brilliance. She smiled slightly, a serene expression that she was used to. It was a beautiful place, and though it was not the same sort of beauty as the kind that her well-cared-for gardens possessed, it was nonetheless wonderful, inspiring and stunning to gaze upon. A slight electronic 'blip' sounded, and she looked for its source, her eyes settling on the new-found gadget at her wrist. It looked like a watch...

A message was on its face.

It ... it has begun. A tinge of sadness crept into her smile. I wanted to ... perhaps ... enjoy the scenery a little more, but ...

"Mm." She read through the message. A Persian's theft of various eggs was the problem that needed solving, or so it appeared. She reached down to one of her pockets, extricating a white spherical device with a red band through its middle, and a button situated on that band.

    "Lanculus ... Come forth!"

A stream of red energy spewed into the air from the Premier Ball that Amelia held in her hands, gradually coalescing into the light-green gelled form of a Rankurusu.

I am here to serve, milady. The cool voice of Lanculus resounded inside Amelia's mind with a familiar clarity and crispness. Is there anything ... Its telepathic voice trailed off as it began to glow with a faint rosy aura for a few seconds. A Persian.

"... Yes ... Lanculus. I ... had Metagross in mind; do you have any other suggestions ... " Amelia let her voice fall a little, then rise again, clearly indicating that it was a question she was asking. "?"

No, milady. That is likely the most capable choice we have within our pool of knowledge and resources. The Lanculus nodded, ever so slightly, tilting its head a little. Metagross is extremely tough in nature, and quite capable in offense as well. Amelia considered the telepathic communique for a second, then inclined her head in agreement. Reaching down to her pocket to pick out another Premier Ball from the folds of her pocket, she clicked the button in the centre of the sphere delicately, allowing a ray of crimson light to amalgamate into a tremendous, steel-covered four-armed tank.

"Metagross. I ... require you to seek out a... certain Persian for me, today." She paused carefully with each syllable that rolled off her tongue, and gazed placidly at the metallic form, her tone at once both gentle and commanding. "Will you ... lend me your aid?" In response to this statement, the many-appendaged Pokemon began to float a little off the ground, its eyes shining with a faint pinkish haze.

Metagross is scanning. Amelia thought, blinking to clear a stray strand of hair out of her eye. Its capacity ... is that of a supercomputer, and much more reliable ... in terms of constancy of performance. She waited patiently for several minutes, lightly resting her slender fingers on the cool metal of the Iron Leg Pokemon's body. After a while, Metagross's internal hum began to quiet down, and it pointed one of its four limbs in a northwestern direction.

She smiled lightly at this. The Persian's location was likely indeed situated somewhere in the distance to that direction, if Metagross had found it. It had never failed her before, and she saw no reason for it to fail now; she dusted the fabric of her dress off a little, drinking in the enchanting landscape around her once again, and set off, her shoes softly crunching into the soft grass below.

In a nearby patch of thick grass, not some thousand metres or so away, the aforementioned Persian lurked silently, petting the eight eggs that were part of its hoard. It purred, audibly satisfied with its hiding place, and its claws glinted in the sunlight, almost taking on a metallic timbre. Something was about to confront it and challenge it to its territory and hoardings, that much it knew, and it began to formulate a counter-offensive ambush plan.

Ten minutes passed by uneventfully, the ambient grassland sounds of rustles in the grass and the occasional bird Pokemon call undisrupted as hunter and hunted chased after one another. However, the identity of each was quite debatable.

Another ten minutes passed by. Then twenty did, as well.

Just as Amelia was about to query Metagross on the subject, a fierce, triumphant yowl, distinctly feline, was heard behind her. She blinked, confused, but Metagross was already moving, its metallic bulk moving with surprising swiftness, allowing the Persian's attack to rebound off its armor and protecting its charge. Its eyes radiated a cold resolve and a quiet anger, steadfast in its purpose, at the Persian, whose expression was a gleeful and sadistic one.

Miss Serena! Be careful. Following a faint hum from Metagross, these thoughts were delivered into Amelia's mind even as their bearer steeled itself for battle. A rain of quick jabs with its frontal limbs at the Persian was avoided by the Persian, who leaped an alarming distance into the air and brought down a paw with wickedly sharp nails in a scything motion. Night Slash? Amelia wondered.

"... Meteor Mash." She waved a delicate hand before her, a commanding tone in her voice. "I ... will be depending on you, Metagross."

(ooc: there is foreshadowing here. it's painfully obvious if you read the posts together.)

Of course, milady. The Metagross's right hand began to glow, and soon a shining corona of brilliance surrounded it. The Persian, sensing that something was out of the ordinary, purred in a manner that seemed to denote slight arrogance and settled into a crouch, ready to leap again. It was met with surprise when the punch that was aimed by Metagross hit the air almost directly above it instead, and suddenly a storm of meteoric particles crashed down upon the Persian, scoring bruises and scratches of various shapes and sizes. Metagross gave off a faint aura of crimson as it executed the attack, its fury rising to ever greater heights immediately after the punch's landing.

The Persian, however, was far from being outwitted. With a guttural snarl, it leaped up from the grass, its plethora of wounds seemingly ignored. Its claws glinted in the morning light (or was it afternoon? Amelia wasn't entirely sure) as it struck down at Metagross with a vicious scything motion. The air seemed to turn a little bit colder, and the sun's light dimmed momentarily, as the Persian executed a Night Slash against the Steel/Psychic machine Pokemon. Though Metagross had ample time to process the attack, the movement was so swift that it could not raise a jagged arm to parry the maneuver, and it visibly winced as the sharp implements raked across its outer shell.

Amelia bit down upon a fingernail unconsciously, blinking in surprise. "...!" Hurriedly, she waved a hand forward, directing Metagross's next attack. "...Hammer Arm, Metagross!" As soon as she gave that command, she frowned, her graceful features forming an expression of intense concentration. I'm ... not sure if that was the best idea, after all.

In reply, the metallic supercomputer obediently raised an arm, which began to glow with a deep burgundy, and levitated into the air, bringing the fist into the Persian's flank with crippling force. The Persian howled in insufferable pain, and slashed at Metagross again with the same motion it had employed just a moment before.

Amelia sighed in frustration. The Persian was obviously quite powerful and somewhat devious, to say the least. She did not want such a confrontation to last for any extended period of time, lest she lose the small advantage that she possessed at the moment.

"...Lanculus." Amelia whispered to the Multiplying Pokemon. "...Communicate ... to that Persian that we do not wish it lasting harm. It ... need only return the eggs that it stole, to their original owners."

Rankurusu inclined its head very slightly, and a psychic drone filled the air as a rose-tinted aura surrounded it and the opposing Persian. A few seconds later, the Persian gestured with its head, shaking it back and forth.

"... I see. I ... feel that this is possibly unfair, but I ... I do not have any other plans of action." She let out a small sigh, curtseying a little to the Persian. "I ... apologize in advance for any inconvenience. ... Lanculus! ... Metagross!" She took a deep breath before continuing. "Engage at once ... Block, Metagross. Focus Blast, Lanculus."

A beam of white light shot out of the X-shaped mustache on Metagross's body, flying at the Persian at immense speed. The latter managed to evade the seeking attack for a fraction of a second, but became trapped shortly thereafter. The former, having trapped it, was also suspended in a state of stasis; however, this did not impede the Rankurusu in any way, shape or form, and a blue sphere of power appeared between the Multiplying Pokemon's gelled limbs. After only a moment's hesitation (or concentration, maybe), Rankurusu seemed to will the orb to soar at the cat-like Pokemon, and it made impact with a sickening crunch. Freed from the Block but now with a limp in its movement, the Persian growled in anger.

Amelia's expression grew wistful. "...Lanculus. Recommunicate, if you would... Our intentions. "

Rankurusu forged a psychic link between it and the Persian a second time. This time, after the communications were finished (though it took quite a bit longer than it did last time), it seemed ready to agree to the terms, swaying its head down curtly and stalking into the grass, the combat finished. A smile, coloured with sadness, returned to Amelia's countenance, and she waved slightly at the receding figure of the Persian.

"...Lanculus." She examined the Multiplying Pokemon's demeanor carefully, as if preparing to create a portrait, but Rankurusu knew it was her way of expressing that she was ... struggling not to express something. "Why ... must there be injustice in the world?"

If I knew the answer to that question, milady... Would injustice not have been eradicated a long time ago?
The Rankurusu smiled a little as well at this question, its mien suffused with a suggestion of bitterness.

"...Mm." Amelia rapidly blinked. "They ... are not truly evil, you know. ... Or, that is ... " Her blinking began to increase in frequency even more, and she choked back a sound that she would have reflexively made. A whimper? The Rankurusu could not be sure.

"That is what I believe, Lanculus."

Even so, milady. I hope that you can continue to hold on to your beliefs, and be true to your own thoughts. ...

"... I can never ... thank you enough, can I ..." A shadow of amusement crept back into Amelia's voice, and Rankurusu exhaled in relief.

    ... We live to serve.

The rest of the day passed fairly uneventfully, as Amelia spent most of the afternoon planting and tending to the few berries that she was able to bring along on the trip. "We ... should have excellent harvests, " she assured her Pokemon after calling on Doredia to perform a Sunny Day to aid the plants. Her smile did not fade from her face for an instant, but the Rankurusu knew that it was always an uphill battle, the one she fought with her own emotions and thoughts.

We help in whichever ways we are able to,
it reassured itself, nodding in agreement to its own statement.

The Pokemon made camp at a lakeside, Rankurusu and Metagross setting up a temporary living space, lifting rocks and polishing them with their psychic abilities (and in Metagross's case, its sharp claws as well), and Chirachiino was able to scavenge a variety of sweetgrasses to layer the ground of the shelter with. It was not amazing in terms of architectural soundness, and the roof was composed of the space blanket that Amelia had brought along with her, but it was a fine place to live in, at least during the first few days.

Food was not difficult to come by. Archeos, alarmingly swift and able to run at the speed of a racecar, harvested a variety of fruits from a forest location it reported to be "some amount of distance away" to Rankurusu, though obviously the exact distance was unknown, as Archeos needed time to gather the fruits as well. Chirachiino, ever the resourceful scavenger, was able to find a few berry bushes containing Bluk Berries, Nanab Berries, and Watmel Berries, which were excellent additions to the findings that Archeos was able to make. The dinner was not sumptious by any measure of the word, but everyone who partook of it was able to fill him or herself.

  • Day 1

Bright. Bright...So...Horribly bright. What a pain. I sheild my eyes with my arm as I gaze around my new surroundings. This river and beautifully cut grass may seem like a haven for some, but not to me. No. This was annoying. The rushing water around me was horrible. It was so loud...I couldn't think. Why me?

I lowered my left arm as my eyes began to adjust to the once painful light, and that is when I noticed it. I looked down at my left arm with mild curiousity, and found that a watch had been grafted around my skin. I look around for any sign of a reason, when it dawns upon me. Last night...Maybe it wasn't just another bipolar thought. Perhaps those words really were true...I looked at my feet to see my gathered supplies. I sighed in relief. If I hadn't packed anything....

My attention came back to the watch as a loud beep emmited from it, loud enough to be heard over the rushing water. I looked at the screen in confusion, and the beep was followed by a slide-show of words. They scrolled across the screen like credits from a movie, and I read my instructions.

"Head west to the power plant, there you will find the entrance..." I rolled my eyes in disbelief. Yup. Huge buildings usually had entrances. No need to tell me that... "...Explore the building until you come across a room with six Harbinger Balls. You must use those balls to catch atleast three Voltorb. You may only use the Harbinger Balls as provided. Once they are caught, a powerful Electivire will appear. Defeating it in combat will allow for a win. If you are unable to defeat it, or are unable to catch three Voltorb, you will lose."

I frowned. What the heck was this? Telling me what to do... I cleared my throat and leaned over to grab my bag. Was I the only one here? I could get used to this...No people...Now if only there was a house of some kind...That would make this place perfect for me! I threw my luggage over my shoulder with little energy, and turned my body west. As expected, a huge power plant-like building was thrusted across my view, and seemed oddly displaced among nature. I gave a heavy sigh. Might as well get this over with. I don't know whether I'll gain or lose anything with this challenge, but it'd be safe to do as told...Right?

    ------

After the long, horrible hike through the itchy grass, I found myself standing at the gaping mouth of the power plant. It would be in my best interest to finish this before the sun set. That way, I could put up camp and get myself settled. There was no way in knowing how long I was going to be here for. Taking a deep breath of the warm afternoon air, I headed boldly into the building.

    ------

This is so...Frustrating! I felt like screaming after I found myself at the entrance for the third time. After about ten Pokemon encounters of the electric type and an hour of my precious time, no room with the provided Harbinger Balls. "Why don't I just go up to this Harbinger and use HIS balls? He sure doesn't need them where he's going..." I mutter under my breath, taking a third sip of my ice-cold water. Why couldn't he just place these balls at the freaking entrance? It would save him time. Maybe he was too bored..."Don't take it out on me!" I shouted at the ceiling, then covering my mouth as I realized I had just yelled at myself. Alright...Calm yourself, Bern... I told myself, taking relaxing breaths. Where have I not looked yet? I checked all of upstairs, since in these sort of things, the items are in the farthest room. Maybe..." My face flushed red, and I turned to the unopened door on my left. "No freaking way..." I pushed open the door carefully, and screamed. "OH MY GOD YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!" There, sitting nice and pretty on a dusty glass table were the six Harbinger balls, and the once sleeping Voltorb under the table glared up at me. Oh Fuuu-

I stared at the Voltorb blindly as they glared up, sparks flying from their red and white bodies. I was simply dumbstruck. I was such a fool. I grasped the tiny Harbinger Balls in my hands, and wiped sweat from my face. I had literally risked my life just now...Running up and grabbing these things...I pushed my teeth together, and slowly reaching into my bag, then pulling out a glossy Poke'Ball of my own. This was going to be easy. Dropping the Poke'Ball carelessly to the floor, a beam of light popped out and took shape of my Pokemon. Sandslash. He flexed his claws experimentally, and seemed almost to smile at the angry Voltorb. One. Two. And here we go.

"That was close..." I began, wiping my face of the dirt that had flew onto my cheek. After about two Voltorb caught, the final one decided it would be time to commit suicide. A wonderful, beautiful, fire-flower explosion that had blowed me and my Sandslash against a wall. I was thankful that my Sandslash had hit the wall beside me, and not on me. Ouch. Those spikes would have hurt! I stood up carefully, and checked my ears. Yup, they were still working. I sighed in relief, and looked at the fainted Voltorb across the room. Stupid Pokemon. I threw my third Harbinger Ball, and caught the Voltorb.

And that is when all Hell broke loose.

    ----------

Alright alright. I'll have to admit; that Electivire scared me senseless. I mean...Who would expect one to punch through a wall to have me flying head over heels? Insolation and wall bits went flying as I sheilded my face and surveyed my condition. Amazingly nothing was broken; just a few cuts and scraps from the landing. I stood up on my weak feet as I stared at the Electivire that had appeared between the gaping hole. He slowly stepped into the room, and he looked rather angry with me.

I will never underestimate Sandslash again. Pokemon are NOT stupid. As soon as that huge electric type stomped into the room, my buddy Sandslash gave him a wonderful CrushClaw underneath his jaw; sending him upwards into the ceiling. I saw a splatter of blood, and I realized Sandslash bit have broken what lower jaw the Pokemon had. Just as pity began to enter the center of my stomach and settle, the Electivire came to and sparks flew from his entirety. Those wire things on his back extended as though he wanted to plug himself into the ceiling, and that was when I realized. Oh my God. He's going to cook us alive. "Sandslash! Rollout on his stomach!" I shouted over the static, watching as electric sparks crept up the walls and ceiling. Sandslash nodded, curled himself into a spiky ball of terror, and launched himself where I had commanded. I could literally feel the gust of air leave the Pokemon, and he was sent flying back out of his own hole. A horrible smash was heard, and the sparks stopped in their tracks before um...Going into the walls.

After about a minute of silence, I brought up the courage to leave the damaged room behind and check out my opponent. Just as expected, his body laid sprawled over the stairs, and I examined him. He had been defeated. Instead of cheering in delight of my accomplishment, I groaned. That took longer than expected. Gathering up my belongings, I retrieved my Sandslash and left the building.

It was about five o'clock now, and I gazed down at the sun at eye-level. I felt sore all over from being blown back twice. After finding a suitable location among a cluster of trees, I put up my tent and made my camp for the night. I had no clue of knowing what would happen in the morning, so I ate a full can of soup before crawling into my sleeping bag and falling into a dreamless, silent sleep.

"Oh. My. God." A couple moments ago he was going back to bed. And now he was… er…gone. No civilization in sight. Just nature in all it's glory. Although he did notice it was dawn, instead of the time they were in ; 12:00 A.M. Of course Omega was still sleeping in basically the exact spot, in the exact position. 'Thank god I still have my equiptment I packed.' He had just realized everything that he was bringing was in the exact way it was a few moments ago. With a few exceptions such as furniture. But basically everything.

He felt an uncomfortable weight on his wrist. 'What's a watch doing there.' However it had four buttons with a screen on it. 'Must be digital….wait what's that?' Someone or something had sent him a message. 'A challenge?'

It read: Challenge 1: Make your way to the south west corner of the island, there you will find a boat. While making your way to the mainland you will encounter a Lanturn that will require your aid, follow it. It will lead you to a rampaging pokemon, you will fight that pokemon using only Lanturn. Using any other pokemon or items (including pokeballs) will count as a loss. You cannot get to the mainland until the pokemon is subdued. There is no time limit, and if Lanturn were to die, you will reappear to the island, only to have to try again. Xavier quickly realized that they had to get the move on if they were gonna do this. He tapped accepted the device and yelled to Omega. "Wake up!" Quickly Omega was up and center and much to Xavier's dismay started humming. "Charmmmm Char Charmmmm." "Really, Omega? Really?" Xavier ignored him, finished getting the equipment in the backpack somehow, got his pokeballs, and he and Omega began the long trek to the southwest corner of the island.

Along the way Omega still had done the insistent humming. Causing Xavier to have a minor headache. Xavier noticed quite a few bird pokemon and a lot of baby pokemon. He was surprised a mother didn't stumble upon him and attack. "Okay. It said there is a boat around here somewhere." Xavier's vision was blurred due to the sunlight. He noticed a floating brown object. "Found it! Let's go Omega." Xavier also noticed however that it was 12:00 P.M. They had better stay and take a rest, eat, do what ever. He had released all his pokemon out. He told the others of their situation and had Guardian watch after Glacier while they all ate.

After about 2 hours it was time to get on the boat. He had returned all his pokemon but Glacier and of course Omega. The boat was wooden with a couple seats. What fascinated him was there was a first aid kit on the seat. However it was a row boat, and would take some time getting where they had to go. They clambered to their seats with Glacier on Xavier's head and set off.

"Look at all the water Pokemon." Xavier pointed. There were a school of various water pokemon from all regions. 'Hey there's even Unova pokemon!' Oh how he wish he could study them. But there was a task at hand. He heard a soft cry, "….urn. Turn. Lanturn!" Xavier just realized the cry was from a Lanturn. He waved his hands to draw the pokemon closer. "Oh you have a cut. Let me bandage that up for you." He opened the first aid kit and found some medical bandages. He wrapped the bandages around the cut with some dis-infectant. He received a playful cry from the Lanturn. "Happy I see." Xavier smiled. Something that he wouldn't do much later. The lanturn began to swim forward urging Xavier to follow. "Okay, Okay I'm coming." The headache was still there but beginning to heal. After 30 minutes of chase he heard large amounts of crashing. And the way the boat rocked wasn't helping his idea of there's nothing there. 'Well is probably the rampaging pokemon.' The crystal blue sea didn't seem like a beautiful place anymore. More like a battleground,

"Looks like you are my battle partner Lanturn." The Lanturn had a look of vigilance. A serpent like body moved around the boat then popped up. "A Gyrados!" 'Is this Harbinger insane?!'

"Okay start with a flash." A bright light illuminated the field. "Gyra!" Obviously it worked as Gyrados bumped the boat almost tipping it over. His headache was beginning to come back with Glacier squeezing his head out and the constant rocking of the boat. Lanturn got hit by a monster tackle from Gyrados. "Ow uh use flash then follow up with multiple tackles." Although flash succeeded again the tackles looked like it was annoying the Gyrados rather than hurting it. The Gyrados however used a hyperbeam. Although it missed Lanturn it was awefully close to the boat. Then all of a sudden the idea hit him. Why he hadn't thought of it before is beyond him. Then Gyrados was water and flying. And Lanturn is water and electric. One electric type move and that Gyrados is done. But the Lanturn could electrocute himself due to him being in water and the conductivity of water. Ah. He could use thunder when jumping out of the water then use charge to not be electrocuted. "Okay jump into the boat then use thunder on Gyrados."He got shot a look of disapproval, but the Lanturn did as told. Success the Gyrados was clearly close to fainting "Okay one more time." And that was that. The Gyrados had fainted. "When you go into the water use charge." Lanturn did that and sucked all the electricity left. "Well, I guess this is goodbye."

When they made it to shore they made camp. Xavier however had one thing on his mind. What was out here.

    Post review and Day 2

Everyone: Don't be afraid of more detail (length). You have a week to write up the post so you can take your time. :)

Nakuzumi: Good post. Maybe those poocheyana were too easy to beat? XD *contemplates sadistically*. Otherwise a good straight-forward post.

pokemongarnet: Haha, yours is a good mediative pokemon, wonder what will happen if it was to encounter one that was more action ;) and poor Jean for getting bit! One thing I do suggest is making a new paragraph for new speech by a character, just makes it a bit easier to read is all. :) A good post nonetheless.

ComiTurtle: Haha, I like how you nonchalantly mention the stew. If anything I would have expanded on the time between accepting the challenge and finding Celebi, but that's fine. And don't forget paragraph spacing for dialogue. ;) Anwyho, a good post. :)

Cirrus - Delphinus: Very nice detail as well nice hint to backstory, that's always fun, it gives us an idea about the character. It's not necessary, as I believe there is a setting of it in my CP somewhere, but the font used is not the best one. I probably should change my setting, all the same XD. And yay for mental fistpumps. XD Otherwise the battles will only get more difficult, haha.

Lilliana: A good starting post. I do find it a little hard to believe that a Machop was able to defeat a Regirock, but I will let it slide for now. Just keep it in mind for later. ;)

Lynette: It's funny cause after I posted your challenge I realised you had a Flygon, so your character encountering them was totally coincidental (besides appearing in the desert). I enjoyed the realism in your writing. :) Otherwise good post :) You might just win this one. ;)

Deathtolight: Haha, great ingenuity. And blood too, that's always fun, hahah. Otherwise good post. For the interest of writing the next challenge, I will assume you went down the northern slope, but if you had intended the southern slope, I can easily change it up.

Cirrus - Amelia: Another good post. Thanks for fixing up the font issue, though I suppose I could have just the same. XD Amelia seems quite mysterious indeed. You've given me ideas for a future day. ;)

Eeveemaster9: I'm sure the harbinger would be very amused by your character, haha. Great imagination as well. Good post though. It wasn't a huge issue, but I did see some tense errors. But it's good if everyone rereads what they wrote nonetheless anyway. :)

baseballa34657: Good post. It was still good even if it was a first post. The Harbinger probably would be considered insane, but, that's another matter. Haha.

((Also I don't want anyone to take the reviews personally or wrongly. It's more like a guide or aid in improving. You won't get kicked out if your RP skills aren't all that good (heck mine aren't up to par), so just be sure to enjoy and have fun ;) ))

    Day 2

    Beep

Jean awoke from the watch's noise. He read his new challenge on the screen:
"Head south to the giant lake. There you will find Harbinger Scuba gear, your task will be to find a gold coin. You will have to fight through some water pokemon underwater. Your watch will temporarily act as a beacon. The challenge will be won once the coin is found and you are safely out of the water."

He clicked the green button on the side, accepting the challenge. "How am I supposed to know where the lake is?" He no longer had Kramer the Houndoom at his side, he had gone to finish a challenge yesterday and hadn't yet come back. If he were there he would have been able to find a water source with his sharp nose.

Jean set off down the volcano, you can't find water there. From the base of it, he headed where he assumed was south. How quickly the terrain changed from the volcano to the lush green grass he was standing on now. There was a forest off to his right, the same one that Kramer was probably in now.

Jean started to walk. His wound's pain wasn't quite as bad as he thought. It was probably because a baby houndoor had given it to him. Onward he went hoping, with much doubt, that he was headed towards the lake.

After minutes of hiking, he finally reached a large water source. His watch vibrated, confirming he was near the coin. He got down to his under layers and began to wade into the lake. It was cool and there were rocks in the soft ground in the water. His feet sank into the murky water. He was never a particularly strong swimmer, he always swam with his water Pokémon for support. He would do the same now, he shuffled through the contents of his bag and released Star and Sid his water Pokémon. They immediately went into the water.

"Let's start. Star I'm going to hold on to your back and guide you where to go. Sid you watch out for wild Pokémon." Sid just blew a few bubbles out of his mouth, they said, I'll do what I want. But Jean had faith that Sid would help enough.

Just as they were about to go down. "Scuba Gear!" He rushed over to a bank where he spotted flippers, a mask, a wetsuit and an oxygen tank. "Perfect." He put on the gear and set off.

The water was dark, you could see only a few feet ahead of you. He occasionally thought he saw a Pokémon but it would just be a clump of seaweed. He was guided by his watch further and further into the depths. He saw a glint of light and indicated for Star to dive deeper. He arrived and it was only a Lanturn. It attacked, Jean shielded himself by curling into a ball. Nothing happened. He opened his eyes and saw that it was knocked out by Sid. Jean would say good job, but all that would come out was bubbles.

Further they went, it got colder as they dove deeper, and he had a limit to his time. He would guess that twenty minutes had already passed, he shrugged it off however that he would lose this challenge. His cut hand was starting to sting and leak blood. Wait, it was leaking blood! This alarmed Jean, he knew that blood attracted Sharpeedos and Carvanahs, he would have to hurry up.

His worst fears were confirmed just as his watch started to vibrate some more. He was really close. From behind him a pack of Carvanahs was speeding towards him following his trail of blood. Jean turned, he heard them. The Carvanahs were closer his Pokémon both attacked, it took out a fair amount between their hydro-pumps.

"AHHH" bubbles came out of Jean's scuba mask. He was bitten by a Carvanah in the foot. It was quickly taken off by Sid. This bite was much deeper than the one he had received yesterday. Blood began pouring out instantly, it formed pillows of what looked like red smoke. Jean's Pokémon were stronger than them though. They over powered the Carvanah with barely a scratch.

They moved on, now Jean's watch was vibrating violently, he was near. Star went towards a gold glint in a patch of seaweed at the bottom. They were very close, Jean was sure they were going to get it easily now. His confidence would be quickly shot down when a Gyrados darted out of the seaweed. Jean was frightened, in fact he was trembling with fear Star and Sid both attacked, it hardly did anything. It encroached on Jean, he dodged out of the way barely. The gyrados zoomed past with open jaws. He swam towards the gold coin swiftly, unfortunately his right flipper was torn from the carvanah bit that was now burning with pain.

He went closer and closer. He was an arm's length away, his watch seemed like it was about to explode. He grabbed the coin! He got it! He was done. But in his moment of glory he found the gyrados to be right behind him, it hit him in the back and he was sent flying forward. He started to slip from consciousness everything went black, but he still had the coin firmly grasped.

He awoke on a desert bank right next to the lake, his watch beeped, 'Challenge Complete'. He saw Star and Sid swimming in the lake in front of him. They noticed he was awake. They looked overjoyed, but injured as well. He wasn't where he started, he was on the other side of the lake, IN A DESERT!

"Uh-Oh." He started to panic. The heat was sweltering. "Guys?" Jean said "we need to get back to the other side" His Pokémon nodded that they knew that already. Star signaled for Jean to get on her back. Jean refused. "No, you two are injured," He pulled out his pokeballs and returned them. He couldn't walk on his injured foot, and he had no Pokémon to use.

He waited in the heat. Grasping tight his coin, he would keep it as a reminder to never get careless again.

Dusk eventually came and the dessert became suddenly freezing, he lie down and tried to make himself warm. He was now buried in the warm sand but still very cold. He needed help.
"I really suck at life." He said just before he went to sleep.

    Day 2
    The egg and the Entei...

    ------

    I woke up with Yorkie sleeping on my face. I reached up and picked him up with one hand, setting him beside me as I sat up. I looked at my watch and noticed it said I had won my previous challenge. There was also another challenge waiting for me. I began to read;

Explore the volcanic area, until you find an entrance to it. Explore the cave until you find a red egg. A pokemon will defend it. Care for it until it hatches. The challenge will be won once the egg is obtained.

Great, oh just great. Back to the volcano, and I get to find an egg in a cave. Why must I keep going to this volcano? WHY? I gathered my things and recalled everyone except for Cinder.

"So, what's challenge number two?" I showed my watch to Cinder and he gave a nod of approval. Oh, did I mention that I could understand him? Well, now I have. We walked until we were all the way back to the volcano. We walked around its entire perimeter, but we found no cave.

"Perhaps a little higher up?" I pulled a pokeball out of my hoodie and let out Valiant. "Fly around and see if you see a cave." Valiant flew off and disappeared around the volcano. Cinder and I continued our search on the ground, and I eventually came across something interesting.

On the side of the volcanoe were just a few, small bushes. A few boulders surrounded the bushes, and everything there was concealing something. I walked over and pushed the bushes back, behind them was a small crevice just large enough to climb into. I called Valiant back and climbed into the crevice, Cinder followed closely behind.

The crevice led into a cave, presumably the one mentioned in my challenge. It was much larger on the inside, much to Cinder's relief. We continued to walk, slowly as we were keeping an eye out for the egg.

After what seemed like an eternity of walking, we came across a somewhat larger cavern. In the back was a large, red egg. It just had to be the egg described in the challenge, which meant...

"TEEEEEEIIIIII!!!!!" There was an earsplitting roar which caused me to turn as fast as I could. Standing in the doorway was an Entei. A freaking Entei! "Back away!" The Entei growled, and I could understand it clearly. It probably helped that most Entei could talk in some way anyway.

"Sorry, I can't do that." I began, "And it seems you won't give it up without a fight." I motioned to Cinder and he stepped in front of me. "You know what to do."

"Right." Cinder said quickly, before sprinting towards Entei. Entei leaped out of the way and launched a Fire Blast. The vicious blast of fire soared towards Cinder and exploded, filling the cavern with fire. I jumped and landed next to the egg, narrowly avoiding being burned. Cinder, however, was not so lucky. Though, since Cinder was a fire type it didn't do too much.

Cinder countered with a Crush Claw. He spread his claws, luanching himself at Entei with the look of murder in his eyes. Though, that last part might have been part of my sick, twisted imagination. I guess we'll never know. Cinder dug his claws into Entei, who gave a roar of pain. Then, Cinder's eyes began to glow blue as he used Extrasensory. Entei began to float, before it was launched across the cavern. It, which I realized was a she, slammed into the cavern wall and slid to the floor. She quickly got to her feet and used a Crush Claw of her own. She did the same as Cinder did, and this time I think the look of murder was genuine.

Cinder leaped into the air, soaring high above Entei as he began to spin. As he spun, fire began to form around him as he used Flame Wheel. He smashed into Entei, who again roared in pain and was forced back a few feet. Cinder then used Swift, generating a flurry of yellow stars that surrounded Entei and created a mini explosion. So far it seemed Entei was a little off in this battle and it was obvious that Cinder was beating her.

I tried to estimate how much more Entei could take, but I had to restart every time Cinder landed another blow. So, eventually I gave up. Entei gave another roar before lashing out with a Flare Blitz, which seemed to do more to Entei than it did Cinder.

At first I was a little confused when Cinder started using a series of Double-Edge attacks. With each blow Cinder seemed to get weaker, but not as weak as Entei. It soon dawned on me what Cinder's strategy was, and it wasn't long before he executed it.

When it was obvious Cinder was tired out, he used Reversal. Entei was launched across the cavern and hit the wall with such force part of the wall collapsed. I gathered the egg, gave a quick glance at Entei before Cinder and I shared a glance of our own, silently agreeing that it was time to go.

As we ran out, I noticed that Entei had barely managed to get to her feet, but apparently had enough strength to give a loud roar. That only made us go faster, and within minutes we neared the border of the volcanic region. When we did, we both collapsed to catch our breaths, though I collapsed carefully so I didn't harm the egg.

When we decided that we could walk, we began to crawl towards the trees. We were just too lazy to walk, and the trees weren't too far away. When we did reach them, I let everyone out and we assumed the positions we had taken the previous night. I watched the sun set before I decided to drift off to sleep, the egg nestled in my arms.

  • [[Too late for that last SU?]]

    Name:
    Ethan Sarvais

    Gender: Male

    Age: 18

Appearance: Ethan's dark chocolate brown hair does as it wishes. It has been cut so that it is long enough to have a mind of its own, but not quite long enough to go past his ears. When the sun hits it at just the right angle, it appears to be black. His eyes are a light grey color and far wiser than they once were, though they still retain a certain level of the arrogant haughtiness that prevailed in his youth. They contrast with his tanned skin, from working outside for hours a day with his Pokemon. As a result of the same, he is well muscled and acclimated to extensive physical activity. Ethan's favorite shirt is still a dark grey one with an smokey abstract Gyarados design, as it has been since he was young, though it is a different one since then, naturally. He stands at six feet even, but isn't very intimidating; his expression is soft and gentle, and his temper is slow to ignite.

His wardrobe generally consists of black or white tanks, fairly baggy shirts of various colors, jeans for casual occasions, and cargo pants when he plans to go training. Ethan's shoes contrast heavily from one purpose to another. He has reasonably clean black tennis shoes for the every day, and plain black boots when he trains. They're thick soled, scuffed, and highly funtional.

If given the choice, Ethan will be wearing the aforementioned Gyarados shirt over a black undershirt, dark khaki cargo pants, the boots, and a short sleeved khaki vest-style jacket with several pockets. There are six on the front, each embroidered with a name in a certain color. The first says Verde in a soft green; the second, Flare in flame red; the third, Maverick in a light blue; the fourth, Kodona in silver; the fifth, Oliver in a creamy color; and the sixth, Calix in lilac purple. On his head he will be wearing a black bandana in the sweatband fashion, with the Sarvais family crest embroidered in gold thread.

    Personality:
Though he tries not to be, Ethan has a tendency to be proud, arrogant, and over confident. In his youth these qualities prevailed over all others to the extreme. Since then he has matured considerably, but there's still a hint of the old haughtiness every now and then, particularly in battle. He has learned a respect for his Pokemon and he never asks more of them than they are capable of delivering. This does not mean he does not push them; he just doesn't expect them to exhaust themselves. His best mate in the entire world is Verde, his Butterfree. He takes pride in their bond, as well as her training, seeing as he has been the one presiding over her training for the last decade.

Somewhat stoic, Ethan isn't the type to gush emotions out into the open where anyone can see them. On the other hand when he cares for someone he always assures that they know it. He is very hardworking and will push his body to the physical limit, though he is expert at figuring out when his Pokemon need rest. His aspirations are to bring the Sarvais family name to the highest glory he can. When he was young his father told him to make the family look good, and he intends to make that happen. As much as his father has expressed disappointment in him throughout his lifetime, Ethan always strives to make him proud.

History: Ethan grew up with his mother and father in Canalave City, where his father owned several ships. Seeing as Canalave is a hub of trade they made a fair deal of money, ascertaining that they never wanted for anything. Being an only child Ethan was spoiled beyond what he ought to have been and given anything he asked for, whether it was essential to his happiness and wellbeing. The family owned a pet Glameow - or more accurately, Ethan's mother coveted a very fat and aggressive Glameow that she insisted was a family pet. Though he never liked it, when he was young Ethan would take it out into the front yard and train it to attack trees and such. That didn't go so well, as it was too fat to move quickly, but it sparked his interest in eventually building a Pokemon team.

When he was ten Ethan's father's business went under, quite literally; a massive population increase of Wailmer caused the sea to become saturated with the spherical fish Pokemon. One by one they sank the Sarvais' ships, along with their evolution, Wailord. With nothing left for them in Canalave they moved to Sandgem. Ethan neither liked nor disliked the move; he never really got along with kids in Canalave. In Sandgem it was much easier to manipulate the more sheltered children into thinking he was a cool rich kid and they should like him because of that. He matured slightly as he grew older, but not by much. He at least learned to be kinder to his peers, to manipulate people less, and to appreciate what he had slightly more. No matter the change, however, he was still a spoiled rich brat at heart. So when the distribution of Pokemon was announced he had to be one of the first to sign up. With his spot securely taken, all he had to do was wait to be introduced to the partner that would be with him, so he hoped, for the rest of his life. The partner was not at all what he had accepted; when he went to Professor Birch's lab he was given a Caterpie. Angered by what he considered to be an unfair twist of fate, he got halfway between Sandgem and Jubilife when he tried to abandon the Caterpie. Despite his best efforts, however, guilt overcame him and he turned back before he got to Jubilife. Then he resolved never to be so callous again and to accept what was given to him. It was an important lesson that would stay with him.

When he reached Jubilife Ethan traded a Rattata he'd captured for Flare, the Vulpix. On his way to the next city he captured Maverick, who happened to be a Magikarp at the time. After his evolution he, along with his two teammates, became Ethan's most highly used Pokemon. This rings true to this day.

Ethan defeated the Sinnoh league and the Elite Four when he was seventeen, two years after he started. After that he returned home to his parents for a while to prove that he had brought glory to the family name. For the first time in his life his father told him he was proud of him, while his mother cooed over Verde, his old Caterpie evolved into Butterfree, and Flare. The next step, he decided, was to move to Hoenn and take that challenge as well. He would not rest until he had at least two Elite Four victories under his belt.

In Hoenn he acquired Oliver the Persian - a Meowth at the time - and Calix the Espeon, in that order. Oliver, he caught. Calix, he he traded for a Noctowl he'd caught in Sinnoh. The Noctowl, named Yoruna, had never been one of his favorite Pokemon. He used her for her strength, but seeing as she'd tried and almost succeeded in eating Verde when he caught her, he'd always disliked her. Calix was a much better addition to his team, primarily because he didn't try to eat anyone.

In the Hoenn league, Ethan was just as successful as he'd been in the Sinnoh league. He adored Hoenn, so when he was finished he settled down in Lavaridge. Training in this area helped his team to build a resistance to Fire and Rock types.

When Ethan first heard of the news of a doomsday, he didn't believe it. After all, people had been complaining for centuries, stating that the end was nigh. Indeed, he didn't believe it at all until he heard a disembodied voice warning him to put together some vital belongings and be ready twenty four hours later. Afraid of insanity but not wanting to be caught unprepared, he packed and sent three of his team home, with the excuse that they needed rest.

    Pokemon:
    -Verde
    -Butterfree
    -Female
-Verde was Ethan's first Pokemon. Received from Birch as a Caterpie, he wasn't a big fan of her at first. In fact, he tried to abandon her. But he came back for her, and since then their bond has grown. Ethan usually lets her stay out of her ball and if she can't perch on his shoulder, she grasps his back and folds her wings, making it look almost as though he has wings. She's wildly territorial and doesn't like other females of any species around him, besides the Pokemon on her team. Other than that she's docile and will only attack when ordered to.
-Verde looks exactly like any other female Butterfree, with dark spots on her lower wings, save for eight lighter purple markings on her right side. On closer inspection it is apparent that they are scars in the shape of talons. This is due to when Ethan's Noctowl from the Sinnoh league tried to carry her off and eat her.

    -Flare
    -Vulpix
    -Female
-Ethan caught a Rattata between Sandgem and Jubilife when he was fifteen. He traded that Rattata in Jubilife for Flare and has never regretted it. She didn't like him much when he first got her, but over time she's grown affectionate toward him. Flare evolved during Ethan's gym battle with Flannery, surprising him. As it turns out there was a fire stone laying on the ground and she accidentally stepped on it. Neither of them regret it, since it has caused a huge boost in her power.
-There is no real unique quality to Flare's appearance. If anything, her forelock is a bit longer. Around her neck she wears a brown leather collar with a little gold tag with her name on it.

    -Maverick
    -Gyarados
    -Male
-Ethan caught Maverick as a Magikarp in a pond just outside Jubilife. He was a total accident; Ethan initially threw the ball at an Abra, that teleported out of the way just in time. When it evolved it became his powerhouse. For every tough battle he sends Maverick in first, because he knows that he is quite capable of winning through sheer strength. Maverick is like nitroglycerin. He is completely gentle, unless someone touches him. This is only unauthorized touching, mind. Ethan and his teammates are fine, but if other trainers touch him he will attack first and ask later.
-Maverick is about the same as any other Gyarados as far as appearance goes, but his scales are a slightly lighter blue than those of other Gyarados.

    -Kodona
    -Lairon
    -Female
-Kodona was Ethan's fourth Pokemon. Captured as an Aron, she has been an integral part of his battling team since. Often he will pair her with Maverick as a double battle team. Maverick will use Hydro Pump, Thrash, and other such vicious attacks, and Kodona will use Earthquake. Maverick is immune to it, so it is a devastating attack that doesn't affect her team mate. Due to all of their battles together Kodona and Maverick have developed a strong bond. It's difficult to have the two of them out at the same time, but whenever he can Ethan allows them to have time together.
-Kodona is meticulous about the cleanliness of her armor. She keeps it clean and shining at all times and prides herself on how strong it is.

    RP Sample:
Whether or not the disembodied voice had been a product of his own imagination, the fact remained that Ethan couldn't afford to be wrong. If he gave in to his arrogance and allowed himself to loaf on the couch, what if this time tomorrow he found himself in a dangerous situation? Worse, his Pokemon would have to suffer the consequences. Ethan wouldn't stand for that. After several minutes of debate he found the biggest backpack he owned and emptied it out. Despite the large inside, he would have to be quite careful about space. He didn't want to waste it.

After some careful inventory and decision making, Ethan had packed as he saw fit. All that was left was to decide what to do with his team. As much as he loved Oliver and Calix, they were so inexperienced. It would not be fair to drag them into a situation where they may not be completely able to defend themselves. However, Verde, Flare, Maverick, and Kodona had been with him since the beginning. They were the Pokemon he trusted with his life, and he knew they returned the favor. They would be the ones he would keep with him. The other two he would have to return home.

With a heavy heart he went to the Pokemon Center. He was greeted warmly at the front desk, and the nurse didn't even seem confused by the bulging pack on his back. That would be, of course, due to the trainers who passed through daily. If only she knew what the truth was, she would likely call the police on him for insanity.

He gave her the two Pokeballs containing his Persian and Espeon for her to send to his parents' home in Jubilife and left before he changed his mind. Though he hadn't had them long, he'd had them more than long enough to grow attached.

All that was left to do was to prep his team. He went home and released them in the living room mercifully large enough to hold Maverick, if he stood still.

"I don't know where we're going," he began slowly. "And I don't know what's going to happen when we get there. But we're going somewhere, and we may be in danger. But I need you all to be ready."

That night he let them all stay out, Maverick with his tail dipped in a small kiddie pool to make sure he kept his moisture level correct. Ethan slept among them, leaning against Maverick, Kodona curled against his side, Flare against his other side, Verde in his lap. Despite everything weighing on his mind he slept restfully and dreamlessly, which was good. There was no telling when he may be able to do so again.

  • ooc: placeholder post. I'll post the rest of Delphinus's day 1, and then I will post his day 2 as well; I've finished Amelia's post, and updated all of my posts' fonts (set to default for whatever theme you're using) as well as enriched a few things, and furthermore added word counts to the end of each post.

    that is all.

completely unrelated addendum: my posts are way too long.

Kianna woke up in the morning, revitalised. She stretched and left her tent and pokemon briefly to wake up to the morning sun still rising. She left sight of her tent for no longer than a minute before she heard commotion. Running back to her tent she screamed in horror.

Regice, Registeel, Regigas and a revitalised Regirock were decimating her camp site, and her pokemon. She could see blood stains everywhere, and torn pieces of the tent strewn on the ground.

Unfortunately for her, they heard her scream. Their revenge for Regirock's defeat was almost complete. She tried to outrun them but that was impossible... Like her pokemon, she was crushed to death by these powerful pokemon, her last thoughts about the people she loved and lost...

The Harbinger was disappointed. The 2nd task had not even been started and a trainer had already perished. This did not sit well with him, so he made a decision to call forth a new trainer would take Kiana's watch and progression and location.

He walked to the location and sent the 4 pokemon on their way as he erased any possibility that a human was here. As he was finished, he called forth the new trainer and gave a somber smile as he too vanished in a flash of light.

  • Logically speaking, if one fell asleep in one place, they should awaken in the same place, barring any instances of somnambulism. That was usually what happened to Ethan. He fell asleep in one place, and when he awoke he was in relatively the same place, even if he slept rather restlessly. However, before he even opened his eyes, Ethan could feel that something was wrong. He was still leaning against Maverick, with Verde against his torso and Flare and Kodona on either side of him. But he could feel a faint breeze against his face, which would not happen in a house. Particularly not his house, which he kept carefully cared for. Frowning, he opened his eyes to have them assaulted by a level of brightness that he was not prepared for.

"What the hell…" he groaned. Verde crooned softly as she awoke, and started violently, her antennae straightening out completely. She looked up at Ethan inquisitively, unease obvious in her large compound eyes.

"I don't know," he answered to the question he knew she was posing. "But we'll be okay. I promise."

One by one he awoke his team gently, first Kodona, then Flare, and last, Maverick. "I don't know where we are, but I promise I'm going to find out. I packed enough for all of us to be okay, at least for a little while. But I don't know what we're going to be facing out here."

He recalled Maverick reluctantly. As much as he would have felt better with him out, the aquatic dragon Pokemon wouldn't fare well in the dry heat. When he thought about it, it wasn't particularly safe for the rest of his team to be out either, so he recalled them as well, save for Verde. She was his most trusted partner. Everything that was his trouble was hers as well. They would face this together.

Before he continued on, he checked his bag to make sure everything was still there. In each of the pockets, exactly what he had placed inside was still intact, which was at least positive. Even better, the supplies in his pack had grown by several items that were vital to survival. But the question was, where was he to go from here? What was he to do?

All there seemed to be to do was to start walking. With his pack on his back and Verde clinging to it, he felt almost as he had when he first started out, taking the gym circuit. The familiar feeling gave him a sense of energy that he hadn't felt since then. The fear still clung to the pit of his stomach, but he felt as though he could find his way for at least a while.

Ethan followed an aimless path for several feet before on the horizon, a triangular green canvas shape grew visible on the horizon. He furrowed his brow in confusion, unsure what it would be, until finally it occurred to him. It was a tent. A tent meant other human life - presumably. He should proceed with caution, just in case it turned out that it was a trap or illusion, or some other dangerous element.

Slowly he approached the tent. Verde attentively peered over his shoulder as though she were ready to attack anyone who dared threaten her master. With his heart thudding he pulled open the flap to see that the inside of the tent was completely empty, save for a watch-like apparatus on the floor. He knelt down to pick it up, and found that on the face, there was a message:

Head north until you reach the Pokemon mansion, there you will must successfully enlist several urban dwelling type Pokemon to take part in a dancing competition, and prepare the dance hall in the mansion for said occasion. The Pokemon you will need to find within the mansion will be a Hitmontop, Porygon2 and a Gardevoir. Catching any of these Pokemon will result in a loss, you only need to convince them.

The reason for the message was not completely apparent to Ethan, but he felt he should follow it. Being in such an unfamiliar place, he did not feel compelled to ignore obvious instructions. Besides, there were worse things he could be enlisted to do. Coming from a wealthy family, he had been taught at a young age how to ballroom dance, and he was sure he could adapt to modern styles if necessary. He would do just fine.

Using the compass on his wristwatch, he headed in a northern direction, his team close to him. Though a mansion sounded benign enough, they had all seen enough horror movies to have a healthy respect for them. Movies such as Rose Red suggested that not all houses were safe havens from the world outside. Sometimes, one was safer outside than in. Hopefully that would not be the case now.

Ethan traveled at a steady pace without stopping, save for once to fish his canteen from his bag and take a shallow sip. He offered his Pokemon some, and they each took a drink, though they were just as conservative as he was with it. They were accustomed to the traveling life, as well. Breathing slightly heavily from the heat beating down on him, Ethan continued on. Finally the mansion became visible on the horizon, next to a fairly good sized body of water. It didn't look dangerous from where he was, but then again, sometimes the things that looked the least dangerous turned out to be the most harmful.

As he drew near he observed the intricate detailing of the mansion. Tall and beautiful, it had obviously once been a very prestigious homestead. A gold snarling Arcanine knocker hung from the door, and twin roaring Charizard stood as sentinels on the roof, made of black marble. The vegetation outside was overgrown and the rose bushes that had once pleasantly flanked the front steps had grown into feral growths, their thorny branches reclaiming the steps. With a little love, it appeared that the mansion could someday be restored to its former glory. But Ethan had not the time, and he had far more important things on his mind than that. Mindful of the fact that the structures of the mansion may not be stable, he climbed the steps and turned the knob slowly.

  • Day 2

Beep.Beep.BEEP. "Uggggh." Xavier groaned, glancing at the watch. 'Where's the snooze button on this thing?' Xavier stretched and clambered out of the tent. Walking to the nearby stream he splashed some water on his face. The persistent beeping began again.

'Oh yah, the watch.' He looked down to see the device.

    It read : Wins: 1 Loss: 0
Head south to the open grassland where you will find 3 Harbinger Flasks. You will use those to fill it with Oddish pollen. Be weary as they will not be so kind to give it up. Once this is done you will fight a dual battle. The challenge ends when the flasks are filled and the battle is won.

'Well that sounds easy.' He turned his gaze towards his sleeping Pokemon. "Hey Omega wake up!" Omega stumbled on his feet going to Xavier. The shaggy haired teen chuckled at the silly behavior. "Heh it's okay we'll ride on Guardian today." He released Guardian. Then he and Omega proceeded to climb on his back. "Okay so that's north." He pointed the opposite direction. "So that's south, let's go."

    *******

Overall the ride had been going well. They were just about to make it past the forest too. That is until Xavier overheard a cry. Omega perched his head up while Guardian paused. "You heard that too?" Xavier asked. Omega and Guardian nodded. "Guardian you stay her and keep watch. Omega you're coming with me." The two clambered off Guardian's back and headed to the noise.

The walk didn't take very long. Five minutes to be exact. The noise now sounded more like a plea for help than a roar. Xavier peered his head through a bush. His eyes widened at what he saw. A mother Ursaring was paralyzed and her Teddiursa cub was getting beaten to a pulp from an Electabuzz. Anger boiled within Xavier. 'Whether he's human or not that's still wrong.' The angered teen pointed at the Electabuzz. With a monotone voice he said "Let the battle begin." Xavier and Omega burst out from the bush.

    (Insert Battle Music Here)

Before the Electabuzz even had a chance to turn around he was hit with a Slash, courtesy of Omega. Blood trickled from the Aggressors cheeks. He turned back at Xavier, with rage clear in his eyes. The same pokemon however seemed surprised to see the teen match the ferocity in his glare.

"Electa!" The electric type charged at Xavier. He made it halfway till he was hit with a monstrous flare blitz from Omega.

"Charrrrr" Omega let out a roar to ward off the Electabuzz. Because no one is going to hurt Xavier as long as he's around. The Electabuzz now had numerous burn marks and has surrendered, leaving the area.

Xavier got out one status remover and sprayed the Ursaring. "Teddi!" Xavier got glomped by the Teddiursa. "Ted! Teddy! Ted!" You don't exactly have to be a pokemon to know that meant thank you.

"Haha it's okay…..uh…" He noticed the Teddiursa had the crescent moon on her stomach rather than on his forehead.
"Ursa.Ursa." The Ursaring surprisingly had a calm outlook of the situation. The mother pokemon grabbed Xavier's arm, leading him to a spot close by. The Teddiursa decided to catch a ride on Xavier's shoulder and Omega followed by his side.

"Oh.My." Hidden by the forest was a enormous hill of berries. The mom grabbed Xavier's backpack and started putting some into it. "Oh you don't need to" But He was cut off by a wave of the paw and a grunt from the Mother Ursaring. The Teddiursa gazed at Xavier's watch and said something to her mother. Once they felt he had a sufficient amount, he had his backpack back. "Well I have to be on my way" He was once again cut off, but this time by Teddiursa. "Teddy. Ted." She tapped my watch.

"What about the challenge?" The Teddiursa pointed at me and Omega. "Uh, do you mean…..help?" Teddiursa quickly nodded. "Uh well I don't see why not. So I guess." The cub gave Xavier a small hug.

After a long ride to the meadow they had finally spotted the flasks and the location of the Oddish's. Teddiursa had negotiated with the Oddish's and got Xavier the pollen. And Ursaring agreed to fight with Omega for the double battle. Xavier spotted two pokemon coming their way. "Get ready guys." As they got closer there shape became clearer. 'Ah it's a Vileplume and Bellosom.'

Omega began to run befor Xavier caught him. "AH. Wait till they come to you." 'What is he planning.' Omega thought. The enemy pokemon were now about 25 yards from where they were. "Okay, Omega watch the Bellosom, Ursaring charge a focus punch." Around the mother's fist began a red aura. Omega circled around the pair of enemy pokemon with vigilance. That however was cut off.

Omega got hit with a tackle but remained standing. "Omega flamethrower!" A burst of fire escaped the pokemon's mouth, but before it could hit the Vileplume it was stopped. Xavier muttered under his breath "Damn Bellosom…" The latter had used protect and got in the way. Ahhhh. A plan had been made. "Okay Omega use ember." Omega sent him a look as if Xavier was retarded. "You'll see." The teen replied. He sent a small flame that was once again blocked with a protect. 'Well this is going to be easier than thought.' A smirk replaced Xavier's blank face. "Continue, Omega." A soon series of embers and protects was put into play with, few times Omega had to dodge an attack. To put it plainly Omega was exhausted. "Hold on Omega! This time use flamethrower." He sent a wave of fire. But no protect could meet this. The Bellosom was decimated by the flames. Covered with bruises and burns that Bellosom fell to the ground, fainted. "Okay before the Vileplume can run, use fire spin!" A tornado of fire soon surrounded the Vileplume. "Tighten it." The fire closed in on the Vileplume burning it as it spun. "Alright flare blitz the Vileplume towards Ursaring!" Omega was surrounded in fire and slammed into the Grass-Type, sending it hurtling it towards Ursaring. The latter's arm was surrounded by the same red aura. "Ursaring, release." The aura released and the fist slammed into the Vileplume, leaving it fainted.

After a quick dinner and a setting up of camp, the teenager wished the Ursaring family good luck. With a final thought of the night Xavier worried. For some supplies were gonna run out.

    End Of Day 2

OOC: Spoiler Alert: I plan to have the Ursaring family meet up with him every now and then. Rarely. But they'll meet up again.
