Okay so, I have an idea for a fanfiction, but I'm not sure if I should do it or not.

The main character would be the brown-haired girl seen at the beginning of Lucario and the Mystery of Mew, and who also makes a cameo appearance in The Rise of Darkrai and Giratina and the Sky's Bouquet. I would most likely name her Ayla, and she would somehow be the descendant of Sir Aaron.

I know, kind of Farfetch'd. (xD) This would probably have CastleShipping hints, though I'm not sure. (For those of you who don't know, CastleShipping is Sir Aaron-X-Lady Rin.)

The idea is that she's always loved Pokemon, and one day (I'll say she was seven.) she snuck out of her house and went exploring in the fields and such around Rota. She got lost, but eventually found her way to the Tree of the Beginning, where she made friends with a Riolu. (I'd prefer the Riolu to be shiny, but that would probably be too much of a stretch. ^.^')

The Riolu (who I still do not have a name for) would help her get back to her home in Rota.

But happens after this, I'm not quite sure, as I still have to work out if the Riolu stays wild or if she keeps it as a "pet". (I say 'pet' because technically she wouldn't be allowed to be Riolu's trainer.)

Eventually she would turn ten, and go off to start her Pokemon journey. Riolu would come with her, of course, as a kind of "Ash's Pikachu" starter- staying out of the Pokeball most of the time. She would start off in Hoenn, taking the journey to Littleroot Town to recieve her Pokedex from Professor Birch. Right now the idea is that she will collect Contest Ribbons, while a travelling companion will collect Gym Badges.

Would starting out with a Riolu be "too strong", though? And would her gradually discovering that she can use Aura be too "Farfetch'd" as well? This is what I mainly need help with.

Also, what about a plot? I really can't think of anything I could do concerning the Hoenn legendaries, although the 'Aura' concept may be enough of a plot. And then there's Team Aqua and Team Magma. Unfortunately I really don't know much about them, so it would be difficult to put them into a story without making a mistake...

So, what do you guys think?

That is a good idea. And don't worry, nothing can be too 'Farfetch'd' in the Pokemon world. (I'll leave it like that, because I don't want to launch into a giant 'realism' rant.)

As for a plot, don't use people you don't know that much about. How about making up your own stuff? A team whose sole goal is to capture legendaries, and now they're coming after Riolu... Maybe Riolu could leave the girl to protect her? Many possibilities here...

It would be interesting to see many of the Gym Leader's reactions to a ten-year-old holding a Riolu (Lt. Surge especially) - try making the Riolu have a strange quirk that gives it a disadvantage, e.g. s/he's a pacifist or s/he can't use fighting moves or something like that.

On the whole, there are loads of ways this idea could swing. It'll be great to see it made into a fic!

I like the idea, too.

You just shouldn't make it too... too "seen that". I mean, does there have to be an evil team? The antagonist could be, say, a professor wnating to examine Riolu, or the president a super-sized multicultural company, or an elite four -member gone evil... Whoever has the power and motives to make the plot go on.
And I see no reason the Riouly couldn't be a shiny.

Almost nothing is Farfetch'd in Pokémon world, the only exceptions being certain bird Pokémon and plots that follow no common sense at all. Like if Riolu was actually the soul of deceased Sir Aaron that came back because it had to warn the protagonist about a disaster that would destroy the world otherwise... Hmm, wait, that wouldn't be too farfetched either. In the world of stories, nothing is too unbelievable!

This is a good concept, but I'll say two words;

BE CAREFUL.

One thing you do NOT want to do is have Ayla become a Mary-Sue, and I fear that she is leaning ever-so-slightly towards that denomination. Riolu as a starter is pefectly okay as long as it isn't UBERHAX. Mayhaps she and Riolu have great difficulty controlling Aura until...say...some kind of teacher figure instructs her in the art?

As for the "evil team", you might want to put some more thought into that. Here's an idea; a wandering clan who has searched for the secrets of Aura for generations, dating back to a knight who did something drastic out of jealousy over Sir Aaron's powers and was exiled from the kingdom. When they discover Ayla's existence, they go after her and Riolu, intending to...do...something...to get their Aura. Just an idea. ^^

All in all, though, I like the concept you've come up with. I've never seen a story about that particular character (does her mom stalk Ash or something? Seriously. o////o), so this could turn out to be a fresh and original story. I'd be happy to help you with any aspects of character or plot you need an objective view on, if you decide to carry through with this idea. Just drop me a PM whenever. ^^

Everyone, thanks so much for your replies and ideas! Some times I just need to talk to some one to get an idea, and since the only person I can talk to whenever I have an idea, my Mom, knows next to nothing about Pokemon, I've had to start asking people online for their help!

And I'm sorry I haven't been on in so long. I got busy, and I ended up forgetting about PokeCommunity!

Anyway, I've done a lot of thinking about this concept. Aqua059, I really like your 'teacher' idea. I have a character idea for a boy who is blind, but uses his aura to help him see. He could be the mentor. And your other idea is really nice, too!

Hey, why not do it in the time of Wishmaker (movie for those that don't know). She could be wondering around Hoenn and chance apon an advert for the festival. She could also appear where the monster "Groudon" is and get sucked in and witness the destruction of it. Or team Aqua could appear with Kyogre (bassically the opposite). Up to you. I like the teacher idea by Aqua059. Just try not to make it too sort of filled. Just use one of the legendaries. Maybe use one of the Regi's? Up to you. I like the aura idea as well. Maybe merge all of the idea's from other people to fit it. Idk.

I've been thinking, and I think I'm actually going to combine Rory and Ayla into one character. One of the ideas I had was that Rory and her friend (I'm calling him Eli King for now) enter the Festival of the Guardian, like Ash did in the Lucario and the Mystery of Mew movie. Eli would probably win, which would mean he'd have to sit in the chair and do all that other festival stuff. But, being hyper as he always is, he sneaks out with Rory to explore the castle and look for Mew. What happens after that I'm not entirely sure, but maybe Mew could teleport them to the Tree of Beginning where Rory would meet the Riolu. The Tree would go crazy, and Riolu would have to help them escape?
