The title speaks a lot about what I want to discuss about.
What do you think would be the pros and cons of Ash traveling all alone through a region without any companions? We all know that this isn't happening in the Best Wishes series, maybe sometime in the future?

    First post yes.

Well.....ASH:Im hungry no money and pikachu went and never cameback because of hunger.

And ash will be a hobo in search of pikachu.

There are no pros. It would be boring because Ash interacting with no one would be boring. Ash doesn't have enough personality and one person going on an adventure is a bad idea because it limits character development.

Right. A good...anything, Needs proper interaction and more than just one main character. And there'd be no one to ship Ash with as well D: Imagine the agony.

well if some more episodes were like that acient baltoy ruins one, back in hoenn where ash gets lost, from the main group. itll be more interesting, i mean most other trainers go alone..
but i like to see ash being hopeless xD

As long as he had some interesting random characters to interact with, I think it would be alright for him to travel alone. Having more than on personality type certainly livens things up, but I don't think it would be impossible to have a series where Ash interacts more with the people he meets in his travels, rather than with another main character. It might even present the opportunity for him to make more meaningful relationships with the new people he comes in contact with.

I think it would be very boring if every episode ran into some random character just to move the story along especially if we never see the character again. He won't have a group dynamic to make him a better character because Ash on his own isn't interesting and there are only so many different kinds of personalities that random characters can have before it becomes repetitive.

I actually think that Ash would become a good trainer if he traveled alone!
Just compare him to Gary! Gary is 10 times better trainer then Ash is!

Gary lost to Ash in the Johto League which helped propel Gary into becoming a Pokémon Researcher.

True, but then again, Ash won a lot of battles by pure luck!
But sereously, since the last gen, not all of his Pokemon fully evolved, they were poorly trained, and basically whenever a real challenge, and a real trainer came to battle, Ash would lose Big Time!

    Gary was never really alone.
He always had those weird cheerleaders following him like he was Jesus.

OT: As already stated, it would be boring due to the lack of interaction between people.

Those idiots were there only for the first season. After that he was alone.

    Ah, good point.
I never really watched past the orange islands, so I didn't know he got rid of them.

...I guess Ash would have wound up as a stronger trainer, with less emotional attachment for his Pokemon, sort of like all of the Rivals so far.
It still would make for an incredibly boring series though.

I wouldn't watch the anime if ash wasn't with friends, I don't know why, I just like dawn's fashion contests, they're really cool ^.^

The cons: Ash wouldn't have anyone supporting him during important battles. When he's up against a villianous team (Rocket, Galactic, Plasma, etc.), he also wouldn't have anyone with him to stop that team, as he can't do everything by himself.

I don't know of any pros, though.

Gary beat Ash before he decided to travel to Sinnoh.

In a one-on-one battle using a Pokémon that Ash had never seen at that time. Also, don't forget that Ash has accomplished more than Gary and has been traveling as a Pokémon Trainer for a much longer time.

Yes, it was a one-on-one battle, but Ash's strongest Pokemon still fell to Gary's Electivire. And for all we know, Gary could still be finding the time to train.
