After playing a fan-hacked version of Platinum and winning, I'm very close to completing SoulSilver as well...but a little disappointed with some moves not being legally available to species that would reasonably have them. For instance--

    • Kangaskhan, Kricketot, and Buneary are all based on high-jumping animals in the real world. They should get access to Bounce at some high level, but don't.
    • Ponyta is based on a horse, which often attacks with a kick in the real world; it should get access to Double Kick at some moderate level, but doesn't.
    • Some non-animal Pokémon also lack moves suggested by their real-world counterparts. Bronzor is a Steel type and based on a mirror, but it doesn't get Mirror Coat or Mirror Shot in the standard games.

Are there any particular species/move combinations that YOU would add if you could, just because the change makes "game sense"? Please post them here, including the logic behind your suggestions. I just might use them in a re-hacked game once I get the hang of using the editing tools. ;-)

One of the more noticeable ones, is Zangoose and the move Cut! This is a Pokemon with sharp claws that cannot learn cut, but is able to use slash, crush claw and false swipe...

One of the moves that's always bothered me is Fly- not necessarily for its in-battle use, but for the HM function itself. There are quite a few Pokemon that are Flying type that you would think should be able to learn it (Butterfree, Scyther, Yanmega, etc.), there are those that shouldn't realistically be able to carry a human (Zubat, Taillow, Swablu, etc.), and then a few more that make very little sense in general (Doduo/Dodrio, Drifblim, Genesect).

    Altaria
    - Cotton Spore
It's a giant flying Cotton Ball and already learns Cotton Guard.
    - Air Slash
    - Hurricane
It does have equal Special and Attack; not having to rely on Hidden Power for a special set would make it more attractive for ingame use.

    Entei & Flareon
    - Flare Blitz
    - Wild Charge

    Flygon
    - Dragon Dance
    - Bug Buzz
It's a dragonand it's a dragon fly, in my opinion a good enough reason for both these moves, while it doesn't make it that much more powerful it certainly makes it more versatile and Bug Buzz is a nice bonus for special based Flygon.

    Yanma / Yanmega
    - Dragon Pulse
Yanmega should always have been Bug/Dragon, making it unique and quite powerful compared to what it is now, oh well.

    Furret
Learns mostly Special TMs, has horrible Sp. Atk
    - Wild Charge
    - Fire Fang
    - Ice Fang

    Gengar
    - Nasty Plot
Gengar is the definition of nasty ...

Pretty good suggestions all round, especially with Fly: the Doduo and Drifloon lines should indeed lose that move, and some of the larger Bug/Flying types should be able to learn Fly. (Doesn't the Pokédex entry for Yanmega describe it as carrying people off in mid-air?)

Please keep the suggestions coming; the more constructive discussion, the better. I may not be able to add Gen V moves/animations to a Gen IV re-hack, but the members who play and/or hack Black and White can still use those ideas.

I would make Golduck learn Aura Sphere...I don't know why...I always image one using it. Maybe cuz they're both are blue. *shrugs*

Adding Aura Sphere to the Psyduck/Golduck line does make game sense, given their affinity for Psychic moves (and moves that should be re-typed as Psychic, but that's another thread). Keep 'em coming!

Mantine can't learn fly, perhaps maybe because it's 220kg? haha, but still, it appears it would have the skill to fly just by looking at it's design and type...

Gyarados cannot learn Crunch despite it's large Jaw but it can learn Ice Fang though.

    1. Zubat shouldn't learn Mean Look, he doesn't have eyes.
    2. Doduo shouldn't learn Fly, he doesn't have wings.
    3. All part flying bugs should learn Fly.
    4. All pokes who can learn Metronome should be able to learn ALL moves (mainly TMs), it's obvious why.
    5. Treecko should learn Mega/Giga Drain at some point, I can't live with Absorb forever.

I'd probably give Flare Blitz to Flareon so it has a move that can really take advantage of that great Attack stat.

Also, as for moves that a Pokemon can learn but shouldn't I'd say Doduo/Dodrio shouldn't have learned Fly cos they don't even have wings. But then again Delibird can also learn it and it's based on a penguin. which is also a flightless bird.
