If you hadn't been born human, what do you think would be the next best life form to be incarnated as?

I would probably prefer to be a tree, a really old one that is protected and respected as a historical monument, and not going to be cut down because of it's cultural significance like the 2,000 year old fig tree Jaya Sri Maha Bodhdi at Mahamewna Gardens in the holy Sri Lakan city Anuradhapura.

What might you be? Species from fictional universes are allowed.

I always thought about animals, but a tree is a good one! To be like an eternal observer.

If fictional universes are allowed, then I'd like to be some kind of god, mostly to be able to come down to earth disguised as a human and live many lives and love many times and grant prayers.

Going with a more humble answer, probably a cat in a medieval monastery (love me some romanic buildings), just enjoying slow and easy life while leaving paw prints on some random monk's writings.

It is very intriguing to think. I am very grateful to be a human at first place.

So if I am not human, then I will think for being very, very away from anything. Something like being a vacuum, which has no physical existence, yet exists physically, making it identifiable. Hard to describe this, but something is which is nothing is quite complex😅

Fictional: Maybe a phoenix? Never needs to worry about dying or being prey (barring some humans). Imagines flight to be nice. May have other handy powers, depending on what abilities it actually has.

Non-fictional: Thought of a cat first. Cannot rely on having a good owner or a particularly interesting life, however. Prefers a more peaceful animal over, say, a big cat or large bird. Perhaps a Dreadnoughtus? Is just a big dinosaur that eats plants and probably had no predators (when older, at least). Could be in for a bad time in the event of being reincarnated into the modern day. Inevitably deals with some dumb humans.
