3rd Gen Im Stuck...

I havent played fire red in about two years and ive recently been playing a new game on it.
I cant beleive this but Im stuck on it! I cant figure out how to get into saffron city to face the gym leader sabrina and get into the sylph scope place...
can someone tell me what to do?

I have bought drinks for the thirsty guard but he still wont let me through!
please help

I think I can help you. =)
Go to Celadon City first.
Get the tea from the old lady with her Pokemon in one of the buildings.
Beat Team Rocket in the Celadon Game Corner.
Go to the guards of Saffron City and give him the tea. He'll let you enter. Go to Silph & Co and beat Team Rocket. Giovanni will give you the Silph Scope. Then you're free to go to Lavender Town. =)

Yeah, firered is different than the original at that part, you have to get tea from the lady in the hotel.
