Improved catch chance for Pokemon you have?

This question has probably been asked a few times, but I couldn't find it on this forum. My question is if holding a specific Pokemon in your active inventory betters your chances of catching another?

In other words, if I hold on to a Pidgeotto in my active inventory, will I have a better chance of catching another wild Pidgeotto than if I just have it in the Pokedex but not one in my inventory? A couple of my friends seem to think so, and I am pretty sure they are wrong.

At first they were saying that it would increase your chance of finding one but I called them on that right away since everyone sees the same Pokemon come up. But now they are saying it must make it so you catch it sooner (IE less Pokeballs).

Can I get a confirm/deny? Because holding on to all this would really clog up my inventory for big hunts...

Nope, doesn't help it at all unfortunately. The 100th Pidgeotto will be just has hard to catch and find as the 1st.

Thanks, honestly that is what I was hoping to hear. I had to essentially do two inventory transfers while I was out today because I have been holding on to one of each type. But I know that in the next few days theres no way I am not gonna get another Pidgey, Rattata, Mankey, etc..
