3rd Gen Improved Soundtrack

  • Greetings traveler, I have remastered Pokemon GL/FR & R/S/E soundtracks to sound MUCH better, and the same at the same time!
In short, what I have done is extracted the sound files (into midi) and sound fonts, then put them back together so they have a superb audio quality (No GBA-fuzziness/bad audio quality). Nearly all the songs are more crisp and you can hear the different instruments clearer.

    Downloads:
    POKEMON R/S/E - HOENN

Update: New revision - added metadata to the songs and added one missing song from the soundtrack

    POKEMON LG/FR - KANTO

This release may not be as done as I will eventually get to doing, but it is what it is. Most of the music tracks should be present, though metadata can be sketchy. It should do if you aren't a stickler for proper metadata. Maybe one day I'll get around to doing that. If you notice any missing tracks let me know

  • Thanks. If I upload them to PC, it would be through mega or mediafire. I'll post some examples via soundcloud now (I will edit the main post)
I'd also like to know if there is interest in the OST to begin with, I'm probably not going to finish it if nobody wants it (I've had this for a few months now, but never finished it because I didn't think I'd release it. Also, by finish I mean finish renaming which has been a big hassle).

    Edit:
Ok so I'm uploading them both now, and I would love it if you guys could give input on track names (if they are correct, need revising, that sort of stuff). Once they are done uploading I'll edit the main post.

If you really want to take it a step further, most of the samples in these games were made using a Roland SC-88 sound module and downsampled to fit into a GBA cartridge.

I was playing around a while ago with the Roland Sound Canvas VA plugin that replicates the high-quality sound of the old hardware. (The only things that can't be perfectly simulated are the square wave synths made by the Game Boy itself)

Huh, it does sound pretty good with minimal differences (as in still highly recognizable). I don't think I'm going to redo the OST again though, I mainly liked just having the OST and my ears not bleeding from the fuzziness. (Also I broke your post in my quote because I can't post links yet :p)

  • Hoping that posting this this isn't against the rules (considering how old this thread is) but anyway I've updated the RSE OST to including better metadata and also I added one song I didn't realize was missing from before. Enjoy!

  • Just wanna say this is such a great thread. Thanks so much for the free HD Pokemon music! Could be useful as romhack resources/background music for YT videos.
