Internal Batteries

So I hadn't touched my Gold version in a while and after I saw a post talking about internal batteries drying up, I decided to check and see if anything had happened within the four or so months I last picked it up. (Yes, my internal battery has managed to last for this long.)

Once I booted up the game and got to the Save Menu, to my utter detainment, my CONTINUE file was apparently corrupt and the menu on the bottom of the screen read "TIME NOT SET".

So, seeing as I had nothing to lose, I started a new game to double check and see if it was just the corrupt save file, that the internal battery was still working. I set the default time, ("Whoa, 0 min?") and saved the game. Once I rebooted and got to the Save Menu, however, the time on the bottom read

    "10:[glitched symbol]4"

and the in-game clock was running in real time, as in the minutes were changing as I sat there and stared.

Anyone know what this is about? How long have your internal batteries lasted?

My crystal still works a-ok. We had to replace the battery in my yellow last year, so I guess it lasted 14 years. About your problem, I think your cartridge may be corrupted. This happened to my red when it fell behind a seat in my dad's car for about five years.

You must be right, 'cause I just booted it up again and the new CONTINUE file was corrupted. :cer_cry:

Quite the downer, but it had a good run. Doesn't make much sense though, seeing as I left it in a case in my drawer which left no potential for poor treatment.

    EDIT:

My Blue version still works! :cer_boogie: Oh, the irony...

As far as I know, all my older games still work. I just recently restarted my Gold with no trouble whatsoever lol...anyway, just so no one reports this, since RSE also run on internal batteries, I'll leave this in PGC rather than moving to Metal/Color. That in mind though, I think only my two Emerald cartridges still work out of my RSE games. I did get the berry glitch fixed in Ruby with the Colosseum bonus disc, but that fix has since then died, obviously. lol It would only keep it fixed for so long. ;(

This is the exact reason I left it in this Discussion, tbsrs. LOL
