    I was currently watching the news and the Hacking Convention is in my town today. And guess what! iPhone's are being sent text messages of a single symbol that will give you a virus.

    The effects of the virus is unknown. They best advice all iPhone users to shut down their iPhone until the convention rolls over. Beware guys.

    Anyone who finds a link to this news cast, please post it. I heard this on CNN, but it apears to not be on the site yet.

    Edit: Information brought to you by PMP Today found by Ctep.

    PMP Today said:
    On an infected iPhone, the sender of the virus takes total control remotely and can make calls, surf and send SMS through the infected iPhone.

    Wow.. D: Sucks for the people who own iPhones.

    & Now I'll be paranoid if I ever do get one.

    well it was inevitable really. though I do hope that the fix comes soon. I'm sort of glad I can't afford an iPhone plan, and suffice with a great iPod Touch.

    Haha. It's so ironic that my dad decided after he got my iPhone that he wasn't going to be activating it for me, much less getting me a number and everything, until the school year starts. So much less stress to deal with. I'd probably cry if my baby got affected by it. ;;

    Well didn't you get lucky d:

    I suspect it's all a ruse orchestrated by Apple to get people on 3.0 to upgrade to 3.1 asap once it's "pushed forward"; thus neutering Hacktivation and Ultrasn0w for most users who won't upgrade properly.

    I can't see Apple doing this. If this was their play, they'd do the same things with Macs. But they know the fact that they're "virus proof" is boosting sales.

    Mac's aren't "virus proof". They just have
    a) an inherently more secure foundation
    b) users trained to expect to be prompted for root access, instead of users who TURN OFF the extra security features (Vista users, for example)
    and
    c) protection through obscurity.
