Every time I want to try and go on the chat, I can't because of some sort of start up error. When I run it, I get two pop ups: One asking me to "Run" the program and another right after asking me if I want to block potentially dangerous material or something. And even if I close out of the website and come back on, it doesn't try to run it again... When the "block dangerous material" message comes up, it doesn't matter which one I pick, it still won't work.

I don't know what to do; do I need to install something? :\

I have a picture of the error I get in an attachment:

Well, you could always use mibbit or any other third party software to access the chat.

I have an old version of Java, so I'm downloading a newer version. Hopefully it'll work.

EDIT: It's not working; it keeps saying it's unresponsive. >:\

I usually use Colloquy (or another equivalent) buy when I need it, I'll use chat.mibbit.com . I've found that it uses dynamic HTML or sumtin' so no java is needed (or so I think).

As others have mentioned, you guys are likely better off using an IRC client for the time being. On Windows, there are lots of choices such as mIRC, XChat (HexChat if you don't want to pay for official builds) and for Firefox/SeaMonkey users, Chatzilla. There's also Colloquy for OSX (already mentioned). If you don't want to use an IRC client, then use Mibbit.

Trust me you're not missing much. Mibbit is much better than the Java Chat anyway.
