Question: Is Cloning illegal on here?

I was wondering if we'd get banned or anything if we made a thread saying we'd clone for people... Can we do that? or is it not allowed?

Offering a cloning service publicly is prohibited. Traders can easily be scammed if someone offers to clone, takes their Pokemon, and never gives it back... The forum is not responsible for stolen Pokemon so that is why a public thread about cloning (or asking for cheat codes) is prohibited in order to reduce the chance for scamming.

However, you may personally clone or advertise said service in your signature.

Btw, a minor offense like this would get you an infraction, not a ban.

Addressing the question about being banned:

Cloning threads...
To avoid users from being stolen Pokémon, it's now against the rules to create cloning threads, so such threads will be closed instantly. If you see a thread offering to clone Pokémon, DO NOT ACCEPT, because that's the easiest way to steal Pokémon. Instead, report the thread. If you want someone to clone you a Pokémon, you may ask it through PM, but remember this is at your own risk, so make sure it's someone you know well. You may also not sneak cloning services into your threads. We WILL find it and remove it.
Also, if someone offers you to clone Pokémon, never accept it from a new member.

Says nothing about being a ban-able offense. Though, I'm sure you'd get infracted for it since it's against the rules and everything. If you continue, you'd probably get banned by repeated infractions, though. Seeing as how some may view it as illegal materials and if you post services to do so publicly, that warrants an infraction or warning. It depends on the moderator who infracts you, though. Posting illegal materials is a 4 point infraction and lasts 4 months. 5 more and you're temporarily banned.

But if you were to put it in your signature, don't ask them to PM you or anything. Link to a place where cloning is allowed and you can do so there.

That's just my advice. I'd wait for Aoriaku or a current DPPt mod to come by and clarify.

No. It's not illegal by law. You just aren't allowed to arrange cloning pokemon trades on this forum by the rules. This is simply because it's easy for scammers to steal pokemon this way and never return them. If you want to arrange cloning services, you can advertise them in your signature, in PM. Cloning threads are strictly prohibited.

Though I believe the staff prefers you not accept or offer cloning services at PC period. People who take cloning offers and get ripped off won't be helped, the scammer probably won't be infracted or anything like that. You accept such trades at your own risk.
