I recently got a Ralts (by chance) and was wondering if it was a good Idea to train it into a Kirlia and then use the dawn stone on it. Also is there another place to get a dawn stone other than the one that is near the survival area?

  • You can always ask for a Dawn Stone in the Wifi forums.

Anyway, Gallade is a pretty good Pokemon. Gallade works very well with status moves, and he's given a good number to choose from (Thunder Wave, Hypnosis, and Will o Wisp). Or you can make him an all-out attacker, with a Scarf and Adamant Nature. He rivals Medicham in that department, in my opinion. I can post some movesets once this gets moved to S&M.

  • Gallades are real power houses and can be used as tanks....well, mines is anyways.

If you IV breed one, You can go Jolly for Max speed and Atk, but I can't see it as a special attacker.

If you make a tank, Gallade has notorious sp.def, and it's def is pretty good, so you might want to sacrifice one to boost the other.

Speed would be an issue, thats why you givie it the Eggmove Shadow Sneek or teach it Trick room.

  • No, Gallade doesn't need Shadow Sneak- it's far too weak for Gallade. And he's not really the best Poke for setting up TR. If speed really is an issue, give him a Scarf.

YES. Gallade is a very good pokemon. Make sure it's male - Kirlia -- and use Dawn stone to evolve. Probably a physical Gallade imo. - Good luck!

  • Response to thread title: Yes.

Gallade is one of the nicest new Physical attackers in the 4th gen. Hypnosis ftw!

Gallade @ Choice Scarf / Choice Band / Wide Lens / Muscle Band / Expert Belt
    Trait: Steadfast
    Adamant / Jolly Nature
    EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spd / 4 HP
    - Close Combat
    - Hypnosis / Will-o-Wisp
    - Psycho Cut / Thunderpunch / Leaf Blade
    - Swords Dance / Thunderpunch / Leaf Blade

Now, Leaf Blade may not seem to be the most promising of attacks on a Gallade, but I like it, so it's there. You may want to consider it if Swampert is a threat to your overall team.

  • Gallade is a decent physical hitter, but personally I don't like Gallade cause he's got some really frail defense.

  • Gallade can also work with Bulk Up:

    Gallade @ Leftovers
    Trait: Steadfast
    EV: 200 HP / 92 Att / 144 Def / 52 SpDef
    Nature: Impish/Careful
    Bulk Up
    Psycho Cut/Ice Punch
    Brick Break/Stone Edge/Thunderpunch
    Ice Punch/Wish/Will-O-Wisp/Hypnosis

Better to focus more EV on defences so he can survive to Bulk Up and sweep.

  • Gallade @ Life Orb
    Trait: Steadfast
    EVs: 252 Att, 252 Spd, 4 HP
    Nature: Jolly
    -Hypnosis
    -Psychocut
    -Close Combat
    -Thunderpunch

Hypnosis works awesome if it hits. I was going through a Battle Tent with a Ralts, Hypnosis hit most of the time, and then I just swept away.

Meh Gallade is better as a status plateau tank or even a Choice Band user than a Scarf user, Medicham outclasses it in every way shape and form if you want a Psychic/Fighting Scarf abuser (PURE POWER FTW) . You need more bulk on its Evs btw.

    Try

Gallade@Leftovers / Choice Band / Expert Belt / Life Orb
    236hp/252atk/20speed
    Adamant Nature
    - Close Combat
    - Psycho Cut
    - Night Slash
    - Hypnosis / Thunder Wave / Will-O-Wisp / Stone Edge / Leaf Blade

Close Combat is obviously there for STAB, Psycho Cut so you dont get walled and lol'd at by Weezing and Heracross. Night Slash for Cresselia etc and Dusknoir. Last move is up to you either a status or Stone Edge for Gyarados and Salamence etc. Leaf Blade should only be used if you have some sort of weird Swampert or Bulky water problem.

EV spread gives it 201 speed, not like it really needs to outspeed anything important, if your really scared of faster foes thats why Thunderwave is there (Dont say Gengar, if you invest speed evs and give it a scarf it takes away its Bulkyness therefore its tanking ability, with Scarf on Gallade, Gengar will switch in on Close Combat regardless, forcing you to switch anyway) its actually bulky and can take more hits than youd think with the Hp investment. Also it has fantastic special defense, which it should be given credit for.

Alternately you can go double status and replace Night Slash.

EVS give it the following stats : - 336 HP / 383 ATT / 166 Def / 201 Speed /266 Special defense . The perfect tank in my eyes and very hard to counter if your good at predicting switches. Which is what you should be doing with it. Send it on something that dies to it and 9 times out of 10 if your opponent is a remotely good player they will switch, this is when you either sleep/ Paralyze/Burn their Gallade counter on the switch in and take it from there, either switch if you cant beat it, or lol at a paralyzed Gengar, burned Metagross , or an asleep whatever etc. and Psycho cut/Close Combat <insert move here> the living daylights out of it.

EDIT: TO PROVE HOW BULKY IT IS

Max sp.att Timid Gengars Shadow Ball does

Defender HP: 336 (This is with 236 HP EVS and 0 sp.def evs)
    Damage: 236 - 278
    Damage: 70.24% - 82.74% (lol)

    fails to even OHKO it.......

You basically beat Gengar if you paralyze it on the switch in even if it has a Focus Sash.

    You send in Gallade

    Opponent switches in Gengar

    Gallade uses thunderwave

Gallade uses Psycho Cut, Gangar hangs on with its Sash, so what ?

    Gengar uses Shadow Ball

    Gallade: lol

    Gengar uses Psycho Cut again.

    Gengar: Ouch

  • Dark Azelf is so so correct. Since Medicham destroys it in the means of attacking with teh scarf, the status abuse is oh so fun to use.
