6th Gen Is this even legit?

So recently, I've gotten a Friend Safari with Munna, and I thought that if I bred Munna then evolved them, I could get good legends by getting something like an Articuno, then trading that for Yveltal, then trading that for good legends.

So, I traded a Level 10 Musharna, hoping to get an Articuno. The next day, I come on, and the Articuno arrives. I looked for an Yveltal for Articuno, but as I was about to trade, I noticed that the Articuno was Shiny and level 100.

    The stats and stuff:
    Spoiler:

So is this safe to use, or could it corrupt my data or something?

The Articuno was likely made through non legit methods (most likely Poke Gen) but if it has got through to X/Y from PokeBank, it is "legal". It shouldn't corrupt your data or anything seeing as it has correct ability(there is nothing unusual about it)

If you're just worried about it not being legit, you could always take it to the guy in Kiloude City that judges the IVs. ^-^ It's more likely to be a hack if it has perfect IVs in every stat. I wouldn't worry about it corrupting your data, though. If it was passed through the PokéBank then it wouldn't have anything obviously indicating that it was hacked to the point where it would mess with the game that way.

Whew, I was getting really worried, thanks for the info :)

The pokebank does not catch every single hacked pokemon, however, there is no indication that it is fake. You can catch a shiny articuno in HGSS I think.

Also, most hacked pokemon, cannot corrupt your game file if done right.

If it's got a Lonely nature, yeah, it's totally legit (I don't get why people ALWAYS presume EVERYTHING is hacked. Not directed at the OP, but rather at Ultan ;-) Just because something is Shiny doesn't automatically equal hacked) Now, IF the Articuno has a Lonely nature, then it's IVs are 19/22/7/19/2/27 and therefore quite obviously not hacked. If it's not a Lonely nature, then I dunno (post the nature for a definitive answer) Now as to why they would trade an Articuno for a Musharna, well, those IVs are your answer right there! EVERY legendary in X and Y have a guaranteed 3 perfect IVs, so if I chose the correct starter to get Articuno and got the 3IV version in X and Y, I certainly wouldn't bother keeping the one with those IVs

Edit: to further that, MOST LEgendaries can be shiny, just like every other pokemon. So every game the birds were in they could likely be Shiny. The only legendaries that CAN'T be shiny are Celebi, Jirachi (unless from the event), Victini, Reshiram, Zekrom, Keldeo, Meloetta, Arceus, Xerneas, Yveltal and Zygarde. All the rest can technically be shiny

That is absolutely true, but who has a level 100 Articuno with 0 EVs that is shiny, from Kanto... it is possible it is legit but you and I know it just isn't (who would trade that away, and if they did who would go through the trouble of transporting it through so many games just to trade it).

The OP never said anything about EVs, but you'd be surprised at what people will trade away. I got a shiny level 100 Kyurem offa the GTS once last gen, and I'm pretty sure its legit.

Who said anything about it being from Kanto? The original post never said anything of the kind. You can get Articuno from Fire Red, Leaf Green, Pokemon XD, Platinum, Heart Gold, Soul Silver, Dream World and X and Y. So if I had potentially up to NINE Articunos (up to two of them guaranteed to have 3 perfect IVs or more since they're from Kalos) and someone was offering a pokemon I really wanted, I absolutely would trade one of my lower IVed Pokemon, even shiny, if I had a better one in my PC. I've got an Azelf sitting in my box (with 0 Evs because I just don't use it since I already have one I do use) that I would absolutely have traded for a Darumaka with Inner Focus because I was getting desperate to find one, as well as I have another Azelf that has pretty good IVs that I fully intend to keep, so any other ones I find, even shiny, I would gladly trade for a Pokemon I wanted over keeping a shiny rotting away in a PC box somewhere. You have to logically think about it, if it was hacked, why would they give it terrible IVs? If you're going to hack something, you're going to make it good.

I just like to point out that this method is only used for hack checking kalos born pokemon only. Apparently, all of the pokemon that's transferred from previous gen or received through the gift events would be mentioned to have a good memory but not be able to remember. If a kalos born pokemon were to have this assessment, then it's a hack.

BTW, have you compared the trainer ID and OT of the shiny articuno with the trade corner hack list? you can check it in this link: https://www.pokecommunity.com/threads/304470

She was talking about the IV Judge in Kiloude City, not the memory girl in Anistar City. Non-Kalos born pokes have their IVs checked just the same as Kalos-born ones.

Though you are correct that if a Kalos one doesn't have any memories at all, it's most likely a hack.

Checked the nature, and it said it was Lonely, but I also discovered that it has no blue hexagon symbol thingy, whatever that's called, but has a red star?

The red star means it is a shiny. The lack of a blue pentagon means that it was not born or caught in Kalos.

From my experiences of trading in X&Y, there seems to be a lot of shinies being WT'd or GTS'd, mainly because cloning is quite popular and shinies aren't the enigma they used to be. I've gotten Pokémon that had perfect IV's, shiny, EV trained with Smogon spreads, and egg moves, as well as the right nature, all through Wonder Trade on one Pokémon before. Albeit, it was a Kabutops, but still it turned out to be legit. People will probably tend to go ahead and clone these though and just ship them out to make someone's day.

It is also quite possible that this person had no idea what they were doing.

Another thing people are doing however is (for breedable pokemon, not legendaries or anything) They have a perfect egg moved pokemon but when they trade them to Kalos they find that more and more online competitions don't allow pokemon that aren't born in Kalos, so they breed the pokemon they have (with moves, IVs, etc) so they are Kalos born and once that happens, there's no real reason to keep the old pokemon anymore so they wonder trade it.

I find a similar thing happens with Legendaries, I have been trading, on the GTS and sites like here and Facebook, shinies for just about any legendary I want it seems and while I did wind up getting all the gen 1 - 5 legendaries this way (not to mention 2 full boxes of duplicates of the same legendaries) going by their movesets and where they were found, I discovered that all my legendaries were either the oldest versions of the legendaries or one of the oldest versions, likely because they got a newer version of the legendary and have no need for the old one. (case in point, the Victini I have does not know V-Create, nor do any of the Rayquaza's I have. most of my legendaries are in this boat, OR they're from games like Heart Gold/Soul Silver where there's a glut of legendaries that people can get over and over again)
