I think this is the right place to post this.
I'm attempting to make a hack of Pokémon FireRed, and I'm using Advance Text to edit the text entries. I've been having problems, and it seems no one else on the Internet is having these problems. I've had to restart the hack and reinstall Advance Text nearly 12 times due to these issues.
The first and foremost problem I'm having is text swapping with other text. What I mean by that is, say, I change the first text passage in the game, "Hello, there! Glad to meet you." to "Hello, moron! Glad to meet you." That's done and no problems occur. Meanwhile, after testing the ROM and its newly edited text, a text passage used by Lance from the Elite Four swaps itself with a few words from the first text passage in the game. So when I come back to edit text, the first text passage, "Hello, moron! Glad to meet you." has changed to "Hello, morAh, so you've returned, [PLAYER]! to meet you." And when I try to edit the text back to its normal state, I get a repointing error, something like "Text pointer wasn't found!" Great. The ROM's text is screwed.
I have searched far and wide on the Internet for a solution, but nothing. And no matter how many times I've reinstalled the application, the problem keeps coming back.
The second issue, is that not every text passage shows up for me to edit. For example, Oak says "This POKéMON is really quite energetic!" after you pick your starter. In Advance Text, I do not have the option to edit this passage, and I can't find it anywhere. Also, you know how when you beat a trainer they say something before you're paid; for example, Lorelei from the Elite Four says "...Things shouldn't be this way!" before you are paid. I cannot edit ANY of those passages, as they do not show up either.
These are some extremely frustrating problems; and what's more frustrating is that is seems I'm the only one on the entire Internet that's having these two problems. I hope someone can help me out here.
