I wont lie but I use to own every Pokemon game inside a 4 GB A Data Turbo MicroSDHC.
I currently do still have it and a CycloDS Evolution.

But now I went back to search for all the Pokemon games and yes I have bought every single one.

I think its horrible people downloading ROMs and such because Nintendo and other companies are losing money. And Honestly I think Nintendo shouldn't even release any new Pokemon games because people will simply download it.

And Yes I know I use to do this and had almost all the best games but its true Nintendo is now trying to block flash cards like CycloDS, R4DS, Acekard, and so many others.

I havent touched my CycloDS Evoultion in 2 years!

I suggest everyone just to buy the new Pokemon games and every other Pokemon they have emulated/downloaded.

I have all the games I have bought, but I play them on R4 just because the save and load times are so much faster, and I can use Pokesav when needed.

You try buying a game when your dad believes Pokemon is retarded and for little kids - and you don't have any money of your own.

R/B/Y, G/S/C, R/S/E and FR/LG (sorry for too much briefnotes) were all best-sellers of their time. I've never heard of anyone having a rom of these games, without having bought them first. The only exception is having missed a title and it's no longer on sale.
And then, Emerald came out and everyone thought it would be a cool R/S semi-remake. But then, NINTENDO created a psychic dna pokemon with tentacles, instead of hands and the ability to change into 3 awesome forms. The bad news, this pokemon was not in the game! (brilliant, isn't it? a game with an event that is not in the game. it's like a jar with a "chocolate cookies" label on, which turns out to have plain cookies)
The result: Emerald is - up to now - the least-selling pokemon game. And although D/P/PT were successful in Japan and the US, they had the most minimal interest globally.
Don't worry, though. NINTENDO will never become poor!:D

Yeah this is why I have to use roms, I would really like to play Pearl/Diamond but I would have to buy a DS too. About $160 that I don't have.

Considering how much money Pokémon is STILL making, I don't think piracy is a problem for them. :P They're losing a little bit of money when they have so much money that it doesn't actually make any difference to them. It's like the difference between having a million dollars and having a million dollars and twenty-two cents.

Personally, the only ROMs I've downloaded are either ones I already have, or ones that my brother has and would be willing to lend. In other words, ROMs that my family has already paid money to obtain. My only exception to this was Mystery Dungeon Red, which is why I deleted it. :P

I think most fans of something--whether it's a video game, a band, a movie, or whatever--will find ways to support what they love, even if they originally pirated the thing they like so much. People who pirate CDs of bands they love might go back later and buy t-shirts of the band, or tickets to their concerts. People who pirate movies they like will get the DVD with special features later, or watch the sequel three times when it's in theaters. People who pirate video games will track down the games later and obtain them legally, like you did. Some people are just lousy creeps who get the stuff for free and never pay back, but I think the majority of piraters will also try to do something to support the thing they love, even though that support may not include renouncing their lives of online crime.

I just thought to add something else.

Imagine you had 2 million copies of a recipe for cookies and you wanted to sell them for $25 each. You sell them, but some people copy your recipe and distribute this recipe for free around. You still gain the $50 million from selling them, but other people gain them as well, but you don't actually lose.

Yeah, the only pokemon games I play on the PC are hacks. I don't get the same feel playing Silver, or even Platinum that I'd get on the DS/GBA.

Nintendo will do anything to bring in more cash for themselves. :P

Yeah.. I always buy the pokemon games. But emulators are nice, in a way, so (as others have said) if people can't afford them, they can still enjoy the games and share in the experience.

I usually buy the games, but for the more recent DS version, I found myself using an R4 to play them.

If Nintendo are happy to release what is fundamentaly the same game over and over again then I don't see an issue with people downloading them, after all it barely effects Nintendo's huge wallet anyway.

I don't like downloading pokemon games because, after a lot of hard work to get high leveled pokemon you can't send them to a real pokemon game.
