STOP MAKING MOE SERIES, AND MAKE A REAL SHOW, DAMMIT. D:<
"Moe" sells. Mecha sells. Shounen sells. Ghibli sells. Most everything else doesn't. People don't buy merchandise for the "mature" shows for "mature" people, such as yourself. Therefore, it's not produced as often. Don't like it? Don't watch it.

Also, >implying anime hasn't always been about the "moe"
Anime has always been moecrap. Don't delude yourself.

Any of you guys seen Hidamari Sketch?..I've seen the first few episodes and wow it's funny. Relating back to a topic a week or so ago it has potential to be better than both Lucky Star and Azumanga.

God awful Slice of Life by lol Shinbo with lol SHAFT. ENJOY YOUR SLIDESHOW AND NOTHING HAPPENING. At least Lucky Star and Azumanga were, I dunno, well written? HidaSketch is an otaku pandering pile like all other SHAFT shows. Hell, even K-ON! is better than HidaSketch.

Well someone is a Mr. Negative about things. and don't lie, mecha doesn't sell, mecha is poop

Mecha does sell, a lot. I don't really like it but obviously it does sell, i own a "Giga Drill Breaker" t-shirt which proves this xD

Lol Jigglypuff, you didn't seem to rate it so badly when you watched it. Or is your list (or that comment) trolling? :L

I'm not too big a fan of mecha myself, but regardless of what you think of it, mecha franchises are still popular, like Gundam, for example. They're still making new iterations and selling model kits, aren't they? The Gundam Unicorn OVA BDs and DVDs made top rankings when they were released. It's undeniable that mecha sells.

Also, my MAL is as honest as possible as it's my own reference. What I say elsewhere may need to be taken with gallons of salt though.

But there are variations on those genres that some shows have pulled off epically, rather than join the hordes of anime that are basically "Worn out formula... with X!"

Eh? I'm not into the "Mature" stuff either. I think most of that is crap too.

I'm just saying... We need more... weird series.

FLCL was good. Paranoia was good. None of them made moe the main focus. Hell, Serial Experiments Lain, A.K.A. Mind Rape in a Can, DEFINITELY didn't go moe.

Also, >implying anime hasn't always been about the "moe"

There were few Mikuru Asahinas in 90s anime. Don't get me wrong, I like Mikuru, but she's a side character. I'd hate to see her in EVERY FREAKING EVERYTHING OF EVERY FREAKIN' SHOW. *Foam*

...so, yeah. I don't hate moe, I just hate it when it's the central focus of a show, because it gets old fast, leading me to hate most moe characters in general.

Mikuru (along with everyone from Higurashi) is a special case, because it's heavily implied that she moes it up specifically to fit the stereotype.

Well, at least by Koizumi...

But, yeah. I guess I've been over-exaggerating the loli hate (Ocrap, I started a minor flame war!), but...

I stand by my point: I don't like shows that focus entirely on the moe.

*Glares at Magical Girlfriend genre*

*takes a glance at Touhou, then back at Alice, then sighs*

Just watched Kimi ni Todoke 2 00. I think it was nice that they retold the story of the first season through the eyes of of Kurumi instead of just doing a straight retelling.

Hey, now...

Touhou is one of the major reasons why I hate anime series, personally.

Sure, I enjoy reading Touhou fanfiction, and create.swf makes me lol, but I've pretty much sworn off all the "cutesy" Touhou art. It got...

Old. And depressing. Very quickly.

EDIT: I stand by "I don't mind moe in a series, it just shouldn't be the whole damn point of a series."

And Touhou is mainly a genre of shooters. So ha. :P

Still sounds like you're someone who prefers "'mature' programs for 'mature' people such as myself." Oh whatever.

Gotcha. Want more "weird" shows? Go watch noitaminA programs. They air most of the artsy, hipster shows (Kuchuu Buranko, The Tatami Galaxy, etc).

Also, I can't really understand how you can hate moe if you like K-ON! It's the epitome of the so called "anime companies making nothing but moe". It's like saying "Apple products suck ass" and then using an iPod. And don't even try to defend K-ON! by saying it has some kind of plot. It has as much plot as those shows that "have moe as the whole point".

So anyway, just saw Rio: Rainbow Gate 1. Retarded fun right there. I just love the environment of casinos for some reason.

*Shrug*

Alrighty.

Anyways, for more hypocritical humor...

Have any of you heard of Kill Me Baby? It's a 4koma about an Osaka expy and her assassin friend...

Or something. I dunno. It's funny, though. :D

Kill Me Baby was ok, i stopped reading it though. I guess I don't really like 4koma, K-On! will probably be my last (unless i pick up azumanga that is)

Haven't read the K-On! 4koma, is it good?

And... I dunno. KMB was a little hard to stick with, especially from 10-19. Agiri is the best, though.

You should pick up Azumanga. It's all in an Omnibus, it doesn't take much volume dedication XD

Ah, Azumanga... The-

Wait, no, I've already ranted about my love of Azumanga.

To sum up my feelings: Yay! A series that focuses more on character interactions and actual school life (The characters actually go to class, have field trips, etc. Gasp.) than pure comedy. But it provides comedy. In spades.

Oh, and as others have put it...

One of the strong points is that the characters are not only believable, but they are people you meet IRL.

How many other series can you watch, look at the characters, and say, "Hey, I know people just like that!"

Sadly, very few. Though, It'd be awesome being in a club with God.

K-On! was ok, nothing special though.

How many unused chapters are there in the Azumanga manga?...I will be looking for a new manga after i've got up to date on Kekkaishi.

Unused chapters...?

Well, the series has *Counts* 62, I think...?

The anime has 26 episodes as well.

EDIT: I haven't played the Touhou Games in... quite a while. I'm still a fan of the series due to IOSYS (Until I wiped my iPod), and the really awesome fanfiction by UsuallyDead and others.

Now, the "Gensokyo is Badass and Traditional" view is burned into my brain.

Ok I'ma change the topic. Have all of you heard about the live action Akira movie? It was to happen a long time ago but then it was dropped, but it's starting back up again

*Ignores the name "Akira", and chooses to replace it with Crimson Echoes*

*Foams at the mouth* THANK GO-

*Is dragged back to reality*

Oh...

Nah, I actually haven't seen Akira. Probably will eventually, but... Eh.

I'm still against it taking place in America (because I feel that may be an excuse to change enough of it), but hey, as long as they keep it generally faithful.
