And yet California used to be the richest state before Conneticutt (sp?) took it. According to Ashley, anyway.

Nothing, really; it's just a very direct and effective means of.....erm......something or other. But I assume that everyone in America hates each other, so we'd just join the people with the cooler uniforms and fight away.


I just had clam chowder for dinner; it was FULL of sand grit......I can't say I'm used to that.


It was strategic, maya--at the time we needed a buffer in the pacific against the spanish empire in the far east. Not only was it profitable for a lot of rich plantation owners, but the government thought they needed a place to land their new ironclad navy........I think.
 
I'd rather be discussing Gundam SEED. However, civil war's also an interesting topic. XD

What Spanish empire in the Far East? All Spain had was the Philippines, and the Americans took it in 1898.

And guess who worked those plantations in Hawaii? Filipinos.
